There are so many references in this MV, I feel I can write a thesis and everything but for now, I'll only point out a couple of things: *I)* That fox is a main character from Jjong's favorite book, "The Little Prince". The "bad" cgi on the fox is intentional and alludes to The Little Prince book animations. *II)* In several cultures the fox bears a symbolic assosiation to the afterlife. In Celtic folklore "The ancient Celts considered the Fox an expert on the layout of the forest and held this particular animal in high esteem for it’s wisdom. They also relied upon the Fox with his intuitive sense of direction to be their guide on the path to the spirit world" Keep in mind that we did see the boys run through a forest. *III)* There is an 5th empty chair in the beginning. Also at the part where they are at the well, there are 5 trees behind them and there is also a 5th person as a shadow inside it. The point when they are looking inside the well itself is also a scene from "The Little Prince" book animations and I am a crying mess again. *IV)* The pearl aqua blue lighting throughout the MV and the pearl aqua "stage" the dance on is a shoutout to SHAWOL (pearl aqua blue is the fandom's official color). *V)* The song's lyrics are very heartwarming and touching and, imho, the are for both Jonghyun and SHAWOL. *VI)* I also think that the reference to 112 Cupid is more than an hommage. It's more of a message for all the negative things they've been hearing this whole time since that day. I won't elaborate further on this, fans know what I'm talking about. Esp the part of the lyrics of 112 Cupid that go: "Girl if I told you I love you That doesn't mean that I don't care, oooh And when I tell you I need you Don't you think that I'll never be there, ooooh Baby I'm so tired of the way you turn my words into Deception and lies Don't misunderstand me when I try to speak my mind I'm only saying what's in my heart" There are so many layers to this song & MV, I could write *so* much more but I'll stop here. I hope what I did write made sense, If not, forgive me; my mind and heart are racing, I'm too shook right now. *5HINee's back everyone!!!*

CER15E KPOP I want to write a more detailed "analysis" on the official MV comment section once I manage to calm down a bit. Also I wanna know who the man in the shadow behind Jinki is in the MV (here he is at around 3:55 and on the official MV at 1:11 approx) I swear he looks familiar but I really can't remember who he is. The Fox isn’t supposed to look realistic. It was put in for Jonghyun and a shout out to the art style of one of his favourite books. It’s not always about being realistic or the special effects. :) Look at the rest of SM’s MVs. It’s not like they can’t afford it. It’s just very meaningful.

I cried watching the mv. It's bittersweet. This is such a great moment for them and they've proven time and time again that they deserve the recognition they receive. We all wish there was one more person standing by them in this mv but I think he would of been happy with this one. Thank you 5hinee for never letting us down.

Jonghyun's shadow appears at 6:41 and is still there at the end. I cried at that part. Some also say that the fox represents him.

I wonder why Key is bashing in a piano so angrily (for any musician, that is a pretty symbolic thing). And they look so unimpressed in the media room. Maybe to express their disappointment with how the media handled JH's death, or Shinee? Or having to do interviews where people ask them intrusive questions about their grieving? Anyway even with the lightheartedness of the MV and the good vibes, you can still see some anger beneath and thats pretty cool. I'm glad their company is letting them express themselves like this.

It might be signaling the frustration towards being a musician, the creative demand it implies and how mad he is that music actually betrayed the musician (you know, Jjong not feeling good enough with what he was most passionate about...) I don't know. I might just be rambling, but that's my personal interpretation.

Interesting... you made me think about this more.... Here are my little thoughts on the subject: I have been watching one hell of a lot of videos of Jonghyun ever since his death. And there are times when I come across some performance that is mind-blowing in its artistry and I literally find myself yelling at the screen in fury !! Out of the blue a flash of such anger at Jonghyun -- that he murdered this beautiful, talented, deeply good and worthy person! How could he? How COULD he???!!!! Suicide elicits so many feelings in those who survive. I didn't know him personally. I didn't live years in a dormitory with him and go through the incredible hardship of building a dazzling career together --- yet here I am with these feelings. So I can only imagine the roller coaster of emotions that SHINee members are experiencing as they face the tragic death of Jonghyun. And of course some of those emotions must be blinding rage -- all the more intense as their love was so deep. Let me just be clear: My heart breaks for Jonghyun and I admire the strength he demonstrated soldiering through many years (according to him) of horrible, hideous emotional pain before he finally succumbed to it -- I am not in any way blaming him for what he did. I think also the rage one might feel if one was close to him is self-directed, "Why was I so blind to his despair? Why did I not save him???" What I so admire about SHINee is they are not sweeping this devastating tragedy under the rug -- they are dealing with it and they are honoring Jonghyun and not pretending that "all is well." They are treating themselves and their fans like full and mature human beings who know that life is about more than entertaining and being entertained. They are telling us all the time that SHINee will always be five -- that Jonghyun, in all his complexity, will always inform the group's future work and he will forever be part of their story. It's really beautiful stuff....

Interestingly enough most artists don't feel they measure up -- in a way that's why they might be deemed "artists". They have a vision that they rarely feel they achieve and it is what keeps them striving and also often unhappy. I've often heard very high-level musicians whom I've personally known (principally concert-level classical musicians) say after what they deem a "good performance" that they've been channeled by God. So a self-satisfied musician would have to have a bit of a God complex if they felt too good about their own work :-) And most of them, thankfully, feel like mere mortals. From the little I know of Jonghyun his sense of inferiority was across the board -- he said it in his suicide not: He hated himself. Music didn't fail him. He failed himself -- meaning, he failed to see what all of the rest of us so clearly saw -- that he was extraordinary in ALL ways -- we saw an exemplary human being whose presence made this world a better place. It's a great tragedy.

I wrote this is my comment and I'll write it again, I think it was made to look "cartoonish" to reference the drawings of the fox on "The Little Prince" book which is amongst Jjong's favorite books and it (the book) is also their theme for this comeback. Man, I love 5HINee and their artistry 💙

Don't even give this fellow'Brisbane comment (?? Oops how rude of me that I might have forgotten his name. My apologies) a second thought re the supposedly bad job they did with the fox -- SM's art directors, et al are some of the most sophisticated and aesthetically evolved professionals on the planet and with a budget commensurate with the legendary stars for whom they're producing this MV. The fox looks this was FOR A REASON. Every last little detail on this MV was conceived with meticulous purpose and intent! Might as well say right here Lily M X that I await your thesis :-)) I loved your commentary on this MV and hope you continue to share more thoughts on this comment space so we can continue to read your analysis. I was really moved so much more so by this video because of what you said re the fox and Jonghyun. I found this MV actually rather sad...It almost looked like they were lost in a world of cameras that are watching them and which was also the world that they had inhabited with Jonghyun as stars. There seems to be a feeling of aimlessness and mourning. And then they're liberated in the end, like you say, maybe through entering a spiritual plane (the forest) where they'll always be together and maybe guided by him -- hmmm? Who knows. All I know is I do find a sadness to this video. The melody is melancholy and they're dancing is limited and staccato as if there is no cause for exuberance at the moment (great choreography, the little there is of it.) So thanks again for your insights! Sure do miss precious Jonghyun but they are carrying on beautifully.

The hook is from 112's 'Cupid'. They did the same thing with 'Juliette'. They used Corbin Bleu's (From High School Musical) song 'Deal With It'. I love how they take songs from the past & make it their own. I give them so much credit for doing this comeback. I can't imagine the hurt they must've felt while filming this mv. But I know that Jonggie is there with them cheering them on. Ugh, I need a tissue. I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!. Lol. RIP Jonghyun, We love you. 👑😢💕 Wait, Was there an extra shadow while they were looking down the well?!.... Jonghyun?!. 😱

I am glad that there are people who are "a bit late to noticing." It helps us all see with fresh eyes! I too felt a sense of relief and also, to be honest, scared. Relief that he was remembered and scared that this vibrant and beautiful young man is now just a ghost. Rest in peace, dearest Jonghyun....

This is such a great song! It shows them looking back but then running forward smiling. It symbolizes that the obstacles in life, that you can recover and surpass it. Edit: Some theories are that the fox is supposed to be Jonghyun since his favorite book was ‘The Little Prince’.

The fox looks like that on purpose. It is from a book that Jonghyun loved. The cupid 112 people are credited with helping write "good evening", so I am sure that's why they used that tune. Thanks for reviewing. Also, Key gave another nod to Jonghyun by using the cane in the same way that Jonghyun used it in the song "Everybody".

BRIS i wanted to let you in on the meaning of the FOX . I decided to look into the meaning of the fox because i know everything has a meaning with SHINee , so the fox if something that as honored for its wisdom .
