I done my run in jan just before lockdown, everyone was shitting it at the start but the adrenaline & all the other lads running alongside you makes you want to get the best time you can. I’d much rather do a 2km run that a bleep test though 👍🏼

2k run is a load better than a bleep test. If you're a big lad whether thats being tall, or muscly or a bit fat then bleep test only suits the small skinny type. The 2k run allows the tall, bigger built lads to compete.

Great rule of thumb is the 80/20 rule. 80% steady pace (building the aerobic capacity) 20% hard effort (speed runs, Hiit training, hill repeats etc) give it 2 months and there’ll be a huge improvement in fitness.

I’ve been to ac before when i did the old 1.5 mile run and all i did was run the same distance 4x week. I got my time but this time around it isn’t the same and you’ve just confirmed what i am doing now is correct. I started off in May with 2k of 12:30 and yesterday i got my time to 11:20. I do recommend running further every single week because it helped me so much with stamina. Also those who reading this to download strava and go running with headphones and running belt. If you put the settings to audio cues it’ll notify every 1k or o.5k of your average pace per km :)

Hill sprints are so good to improve. I did a bunch nearly every day first thin in the morning about 5am or 6am for a week and did them to failure, even to the point of throwing up all my liquids I was drinking one time. wasn't doing any 2kms 1kms in between etc. then did a 2km the next week and it shaved a minute off my run time right off the bat (granted my initial runtime was around 11:30 so bare minimum!) but incorporating that into my training eventually lead to me getting a 9 min 2km runtime before I went to AC, nearly scraped an 8.0 on bleep test. Won't be turning any heads for the infantry or paras but for what I was going for I was better than some others who rocked up

My PB 🏃 time was 9.20 in 1985 aged 33 on my REME reserves recruit course on the individual best effort run for the old BFT. Dress was boots, lightweights and T 👚 shirt top on tarmac. The OC could run a BFT in 7.5 minutes and he would buy a 🍺 beer for whoever beat him to the line. Another notable BFT was on my PT leaders course (CCPR community sports leaders award) which took a minute longer as it was on grass with slippery wet corners in winter. I was certainly noticed by the staff in the swimming 🏊 pool by the method I used to pull in a lane rope ending with it already loosely coiled in my arms ready to hang it on its peg. Happy days.

I thought I was quite fit, but jesus they are both unreal!! The para guy was way fitter than me, but the ex sas lad was running rings round him. We had 55lb bergens on and we was doing hill work on kinder scout (northern edge from the snake pass up to seal stones). Basically just straight to top then back down over and over again for 8 hours. I have never thrown up as much in my life from pure exhaustion 🤢 I got up and down 7 times. Para lad did it 11 times and sas lad got 15 or 16 times and was still in shape for battle after. Either straight off within I think 27m30s , or 1.5 miles as a squad jog timed to 15 minutes, then turn round and run back in 10.5 minutes or less. I don`t know why the two different standards. THEN they removed the need for boots as it was wrecking peoples tendons in boots, and using trainers instead.

I would say go to a ruuning coach for 1 session, decent pair of running trainers learn that you will be uncomfortable, focus on technique and focus on stretching

Honestly, run faster and you will find it easier. Go on a treadmill and do 13km/hr, it’s hard as it takes 10 minutes. 15km/hr feels easier as it is only 8 minutes. Just try it.

Try this stretch mate, lean forward over anything worktop, top of stairs anywhere, put one leg out in front and the other leg as far back to a good uncomfortable. Keep feet flat, push down slightly and feel a stretch up the back of your leg, switch feet.

Unfortunately they've scrapped the 2km run for army reserves. I'm trying to join the Rifles as a rifleman. Their run time is 2km in 10.15 mins. I started off with a best time of 25 mins with lots of breaks but 2 years later I now have a run time of 2km in 9.15 which I still can't believe I did it!! Just shows if I can do it anyone can do it. Shame they've now replaced the 2km with a beep test why keep changing it. They changed it before with the water jug test which is now a medicine ball throw and bar pull of 70kg which I smashed with a PB of 200kg. Just waiting for the csm to get me on selection but apparently they're only taking on regs at the moment.

What diet/supplements would you recommend for improving endurance and stamina
@me5969
@me5969 3 жыл бұрын
There’s nothing really in terms of supplements aside from making you have all your vitiamins and people Creatine. And diet, there’s nothing really that specifically helps with stamina but just the usual make sure you hit your needed intake for protein to enable protein synthesis. Also diets can vary on the individual. Broccoli and stuff bloat me to fuck so I have to stay clear of that and just smash the sweat patio chips in instead.

If you don’t train the correct way then it’s hard, but hard work pays off aswell as watching thins like this on how to improve certain lacking areas, the runs the hardest but it’s better at selection as you are running with other people which eggs yourself on to get a better time than them for bragging rights

The screen is touch screen, so that will save time rather than using the mouse. Also, you will be asked - River colder than lake, pond colder than river. Then underneath it will ask - Which ones is warmest? Read the question at the bottom first, then read the info above it, it makes it a lot easier.

What if I told you that when your at the point you feel you can’t go anymore, your body is only around 30-40% of its capacity and it’s just your mental state telling you that you can’t do anymore. Mind will give up before the body every time. This is how Paras, Marines and UKSF lads can get through there training, by overpowering your mind. Obviously stop if u get an injury though, you know the difference between u comfortable pain and an actual injury 👍
