Good idea indeed. I've been listening/watching for a while, but it took quite some time before I learned the names of everyone, especially the less regular people. Also maybe a one sentence explanation of who they actually are. For example it shouldn't take a couple of episodes of listening to Philpot to know that he has a serious racing background.

I'm with Matt on "The final thing" of no safety car. Like 4 laps to go and it hit me. Tracks drying, no one has crashed to this point, no one is really near enough to get into a battle crash, we've been through at least 4 wet-dry transitions and Logan's still on the road.. Holy shit.

TBF it's a lot easier to keep a car on the road when you're traveling at the speed of a tractor. Especially Logan, but they all were nursing their intermediates because they knew they had to keep them for 10 laps till the rain passed, they already had info on how fast the inters would wear out. Usually rain makes races more exciting, this weekend it probably did the opposite.

Lewis move wasn’t a mistake. He was at risk having no seat at 2025. Mercedes only give him 1 year. Which is 2024. The +1 is an open option to ended the contract in 2025. With Antonelli coming up. Lewis will sure be force to retire in 2025 if Mercedes decide to take Antonelli in. Mercedes gave him solid 1 year, Ferrari gave him solid multi year. Off he go to Ferrari. This is not a mistake, this is calculative move because he still want to race in F1.

Oscar commented after the race that as soon as he saw the first corner he knew they’d made the wrong decision. What he should have asked was why no one at McLaren bothered to stick their head out a window & see the heavy rain at turn 1.

Looking at how fast the McLarens were in the rain, I think they set up those cars for that condition with a less stiff setting, meaning the tire wear in the dry became a problem meaning they had no chance with a used soft. They should've gon for medium.

Completely agree with Stuffey about the prices at Silverstone. I paid for 2 hotdogs and 2 bottled fizzy drinks and it came to around £30. Just a burger was around £13-18. Mental! If I go again it will be sandwiches for every meal😂

Hamilton: great faultless race and a well deserved first place, I can understand how much this meant to him on his home track and last year for mercedes. Lando: could have won this race were it not for some bad decisions, he was gutted which compounded on the end of the last race as you could see by his body language. Max: clearly lacking in pace vs McLaren and Mercedes on this track, somehow pulled out a P2 thanks to pretty much the perfect strat under treacherous and changing conditions.

Used to hate watching Lewis win everything. Now I was sheering for him. Lando is a clueless bottas grade driver, who cant even pick the right tire for the last stint. Team told him, they have Brand New mediums which is best option and he goes with USED SOFT only because Lewis picked Soft. How Stupid do you have to be to go with inferior tire, I guess when you are using 110% of your mental capability on driving the Car. You make stupid choices like this..or not being able to avoid an accident in Austria. He was overloading the brain and it couldn't do a simple task to avoid contact. BTW Sainz last year PUSHED Max out of the track under braking, and NO CONTACT and Max overtook him down the next straight. Something Jenson Button Talked about. Also Eddie Jordan blamed Norris for the accident.

Mclaren were just doing a split strategy - they took the good strategy and split it by giving Oscar the right tyre at the wrong time, and Lando got the wrong tyres at the right time!

Post race, I know, but can't McClaren run a simulation of the tire choice on the sim? Input the weather, keep Max and Lewis' performance constant and have Lando run the end of the race on mediums. I would think they would have enough data on Silverstone to get an idea of the correct tyre choice. Or, do they put Silverstone in the rearview mirror and concentrate on Hungary?

Kudos to Lewis and Merc!! McLaren made mistakes for sure. They really seemed to second guess themselves today compared to the rest of the season. Every choice was a gamble. In changing conditions, the last to act never wins. McLaren will learn. Red Bull and Merc have both been through this. Great that everyones so close though, makes strategy even more cruical!

I appreciate your approach to talking about Lando. I feel like both he and Leclerc are often put in unfair positions by their teams pushing the strategy decisions onto the drivers. Even if the teams know the correct strategy, the way they present options to the drivers just isnt effective to executing on the best strategy. And then those drivers go and blame themselves for their "bad" decisions on things that shouldvetnever been theirs to decide in the first place! Loved the cooldown room and everything about Lewis' emotion around this win.

So what if they never switched Alisson and Elliot's jobs at Mercedes? I thought it was impossible to catch up to RBR, but they seem to have done it. With McLaren it depends on the race, but Mercedes seems to progress more steadily, more methodological.

Alonso had overtaken Stroll in the first stint. When the time came to change to the intermediates, Alonso magically found himself 10 seconds behind Stroll. I missed what happened, but did the team pit Stroll first while leaving Alonso out on slicks in the rain for an extra lap? That would explain it.

So to Spanners' Q would Lando have dead set won if either of the two big mistakes not happened??? Yes he would - on 1 for sure. 1. New mediums v used softs - hi deg dry track, the softs had to be protected to go 10 laps, while Oscar was setting fastest lap after fastest lap on NEW Mediums. Oscar gained over 10 seconds on Lando in 10 laps. 2. Less obvious judgement error, stayed out 1 lap too long on first set of tyres - how much did he lose to Max??? Lewis would have had to pass him on track on intermediates, then again on softs at the end - hard work with the speed differential. Taking away the emotional victory by Sir Lewis, Oscar was Driver of the Day, faultless drive, not his fault he lost 20 seconds.

McLaren costing piastri another win because they are worried about upsetting his childish team mate. If they double pitted piastri he would have beaten lewis by approximately 7 to 8 seconds. They got what they deserved with lando bottling another win and showing he isnt that guy. McLaren will lose their best asset if they continue down this path. Good to see lewis win even though i'm not a fan of the bloke.

Unfortunately Lando really dropped the ball today with his choices on pits, he knows he should have won it and you could really tell by his body language after the race. Considering he wants to take the fight to Max this season it is both very unfortunate for him and for the fans who want to see a tight points finish till the end of the season that he lost points to Max for no reason other than strategy.

As Lewis pointed out to him in the cooldown room, came in a lap too late and picked the wrong tires. Ouch. Imagine having that being rubbed in. He had a fresh set of mediums available, if he came in a lap earlier first stint and went medium last stint it would have been Lando P1.

So how exactly did Red Bull “drop the ball”? In case you missed it max drove well and they had the best Strat out of any team to maximize their car…..not having upgrades that makes you car by far the fastest is not “dropping the ball”. At the end of regulations finding gains is tough, track conditions weren’t what was expected for this race when planning beforehand for the weekend. It’s amazing how Derek on his couch can chime in as if they are not only the foremost expert, but also said expert who was not only there, but imbedded with Red Bull for months knowing every move and decision.

They only have a little less windtunneltime and had a huge advantage. Don't forget Max was by far the fastest and if he didn't make the mistake in qualy messing up his floor, he still might have won it despite the lack of pace. Because he could still follow and in the end it was a

Lewis can still win races. But he wont get a tittle at Mercedes or Ferrari. He has to go up against Max. And a new generation of drivers Piastri, Noris, Russell. And i think Alonso and Albon and Ferrari can get up there if they get their act together. So he has more against him with younger talent.

another race and another win lost by Lando. AMAZING how clueless of a driver he is. Wasn't smart enough to avoid Max in the last race, even Jenson Button and Eddie Jordan are Blaming him for the accident among MOST other NON British experts. In This race Lando decided to go with USED soft when he had Brand New Mediums and the team told him they were the best option. He would have easily won the race on Mediums. But instead goes with Softs and then pushed hard on them from the get go, like in previous races and after a few laps they fade away. Instead of taking it SLOWLY to get the tires working and then push hard on them. But this is what happens when a driver uses 110% of his mental capacity on driving the car. Not enough brainpower left to avoid accidents like in Austria. Just look at last year how much Sainz moved under braking and PUSHED Max out, and amazingly still no accident. Which is something Jenson Button commented on. I guess you guys are now hating Jenson for defending Max...how unbritish of him. I bet Lewis would be leading the WDC in the Mclaren this year. Zak will one day realize he got 2 Bottas driving for him, he needs a Lewis or Max in his team to win the title.

The double standards from the panel is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to defending their british drivers and british teams. The one weekend they say "Charles should be like Sainz and asert more authority when it comes to strategy" yet Lando is known for making crap strategy decisions now they saying the complete opposite because its Norris. LOL british bias is real! IN CRUNCH SITUATIONS LANDO IS A BOTTLE JOB, he has proven that in his career so far. British bias at its finest! Race was mostly boring! ZERO on track racing…all passes up front where people letting people through or from pit stops…last week was sooooo much better. There was a long wheel to wheel battle for win…a big battle at the end that ended in both punctured and a winner that no one was thinking….once you saw max didn’t have enough time to catch Lewis at the end it was over. Not saying worse race ever….but wasn’t the best by far

I get your point, but there is more to F1 than overtaking. This GP was filled with stories. From obviously Hamilton, to Max proceeding in the race, Norris making his choices, McLaren messing it up especially for Piastri who seemed to be the fastest guy out there, Hulkenberg getting a neat result, Sargeant almost getting a point. F1 is not the class anymore with interesting technical development and it really never was in terms of close racing action. I mean, you talk about last week, but when you compare that to f.e. MotoGP, F1 wheel to wheel racing is just nothing more than sadness with unequal machinery, huge vehicles little room to take alternatives lines, different strategies, etc.
