Wow. This guy is absolutely phenomenal. He does NOT do what so many players do ~ throw in way too many notes when playing slow blues. This dude hangs on the notes and lets the melody occur - just like emotions. Groovy.

First video of his I saw there was a group of fans that started singing a song to Gary. He loved it. And he did a song that started slow, almost limpid, and then built up to a killer solo. I think it was Hear my Train a Comin, and that was fitting since once you get an old freight train going, you can't stop it. You just gotta get outta the way.

Always enjoy your videos. Nice to discover new talent and rediscover olde artists. Always enjoyed the lyric side of artists as much as the playing. Don't know if you've covered any Tom Waits but his music is almost always a little out there and many times his lyrics are as vivid as a fine painting. Chocolate Jesus live is most entertaining. Merry Christmas to all.

Late at night I usually have my TV on mute. Not too many people any more that you go wow to. But I looked one night and seen this scruffy young man that caught my attention. Up went the TV, wow, WOW, WOW! Somebody went in a time machine and got him or his parents gave Gary the right genes , the right Blues history (yep), and right school ( professionalism), or the it factor, it was was just him.

Keep on the good work and by the way check out a an acquittance of mine Kim Mitchell . He rocks out and I have seen him from the hippy days and always Go for Soda . Keep up your good work . Also check out some other Canadians bands , Rush , Mckenna Mendelsohn Mainline , Lighthouse and of course Joni Mitchell and might as well throw in Valdi into the mix ! You might find something interesting there , and oh I forgot Neil Young , the Band , Pat Travers , Painter , Great Big Sea and so on .

These guys only come around every once in a while to remind us of the honesty, purity, and simplicity of music born of the soul. "If you define 'blues' by the rigid categories of structure rather than the flexible language of feeling allusion, Robert Cray... Larry Garner, Joe Louis Walker and James Armstrong are a new and uncategorizable breed, their music blues-like rather than blues, each of them blending ideas and devices from a variety of sources - soul, rock, jazz, gospel - with a sophistication beyond the reach of their forerunners".--Tony Russell Now please add Gary Clark Jr. to this list.
