Hi guys, today we're taking another look at P1907s. This video covers British P1907s of WW1 after hook removal.

So, my wife is away from the house this weekend leaving me with the dog and - thank God - KZfaq for the weekend…! One of your videos made me buy a beautyful British 1907 bayonet. Now, I did it again, and the only difference between the two is the shape of the stud on the front of the bayonet: Round vs. teardrop shaped. Your videos are the best…! Thank you (again) from Tino, 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰 😊

Very informative video thank you very much. I have just found a bayonet while digging footers in my backyard. I am still trying to identify it. But pretty sure its a Pattern 1907. Very rusted blade after I removed from leather sheth. I can almost make out a 1907 in center and a 20 in the bottom right. It almost looks like there is chipping black paint along the blade. I have wrapped rusted metal areas in vinigar to see if it will desolve.

I was lucky to get one manufactured by Wilkinson Sword the green paint for the first just after the tang.

Excellent video on a great bayonet. Got one for my SMLE, proudly showed my Dad, then poked a hole in his cealing.

I have a lot of variations, including 2 of the original pattern with quillon. I have specimens from various manufacturers, from Britain, Australia and RFI Ishapore.

I have a 1907 bayonet. It has the markings Crown, GR 5 18 WILKINSON PALLMALL? on the reverse it has the X & government marks. On the grip is has carved initials J S. Is this bayonet valuable?

Excellent helped me so much with my recently acquired bayonet just wondering what is the 'belt' attachment called ??
@pointynotsharp8436 Жыл бұрын
A frog, from memory the name started in Portugal and means something in portuguese like belt attachment or something. It'd been a few years since I read that so don't take it as gospel though

Does it matter which way the bayonet is put into the scabbard? Muzzle ring to the front or rear?

G'day. I know the 'AUSTRALIA' stamped on the grip scale is accepted as a modern US import requirement. However, this 1910 Australian Sanderson in front of me, under microscope examination, has detritus in the bottom of the stamped letters that is identical to that evident in the other period scratches and dents present. This would suggest the 'AUSTRALIA' stamp is period?? Regards.

I actually work in a forensic field that does a lot of microscopy. How do you eliminate modern detritus that could be present in the period scratches?
@chrismorgan1336 Жыл бұрын
@@pointynotsharp8436 And here lyeth the problem! This black, nodular micro-crud is also lodged deeply in gaps and crevices. So far, can't find anything similar in more recent 1907s. The other approach is where did the US import requirement originate from?

Hi, I just found you as I have two bayonets, passed down to me. My gf teacher friend asked me if she could use them as part of a history project, I've had these all my life and I'm embarrsed as i know nothing about them, one is a french label (tks for that) I'm not sure about the other one, it looks very generic. If i take some pics, etc, would you be able to fill in some gaps. Tks in advance. Nick.

I also have a bayonet made in 1907
@tcr-jx6pl4 ай бұрын
It is probably a Pattern 1907 bayonet with month and year stamped below the 1907 eg like 7 ‘ 18 for July 1918
