Absolutely marvellous. It hasn't changed has it? My son has done the trooping twice. What a wonderful tradition. I wonder how many of these soldiers died in WW2.

My wife’s grandfather paraded with the whole 2nd Canadian Division for King George V in 1915 before they left the UK for France. He was with the 31st Bn CEF (Alberta).

The drill movements are different to today, they do not raise their legas parallel with the ground, all the guards are of a simular height. There are a lot more guards on parade.

?? Considering that they did away with height restrictions some years ago, that is puzzling to read. Their heights are divergent now. They were far more equally tall then.

strange to see how much the foot drill has changed since this was filmed, the arms are swung only waist high and the knee is only half bent unlike todays guards drill. the arm is swung shoulder high and the knee is always bent with the thigh being parallel to the ground before the foot is driven down to the ground in a smart and solider like manor. up the micks

Look how slim and tall the Guards are, not like today short , tall medium and over weight. Basically a mess.

Think you had to be a specific height to be in the guards then, and especially in a parade like this. Things change, times change and people change. The people that are recruited into the army have changed, just like any other industry. I’m quite certain the standards haven’t changed, just the people teaching it and the people being taught!

Bend and drive? But every bit as Bollo as today. Much prefer heavier percussion of the numbers of drummers.

Germans marches are so much better, not only the music, but also the drill and the uniforms. UK still my favorite after Germany.

Both the UK and Germany have great military traditions, uniforms and marches. I honestly prefer more traditonal uniforms (such as the British Household Division's uniforms) for ceremonial purposes.

@@PotatoSalad614 Goose stepping goes back to the Prussian Army of Frederick the Great - who utilised the discipline of his army to great success. It became a staple in German Military Tradition and as a result it was adopted by those inclined to fascist ideals.

Nowadays, german marches are not much, however the prussian march tradition is best continued by Chile.
