It’s a mistake almost anyone could have made. I know need to follow the laws of countries are visiting. I have traveled as solo female a great deal and always try to at least look up info regarding my destination, but I’m sure I didn’t always and/or may have just glanced. And still a chance could have broken a law without doing so intentionally. I was in Singapore for a connection and was nervous as even chewing gum in public was unlawful and the punishments there were severe. What BG describes sounds hellacious. Yes it’s Russian law and in their country but 9 years for small amount of THC oil to be done in such a severe prison is terrifying. I don’t follow basketball, but watching an interview with Brittney gave me the impression she is an extremely decent human who made a mistake and she has handled this with amazing grace.
