Bonnie Raitt is one of my favorite female artists. She's the real deal - she paid her dues. Her voice has been aptly described as "Honey Soaked and Whiskey Scratched". Well done!

She is a rockstar. She's also one of the greatest Blues guitarists who specializes in slide guitar, male or female. Also a great songwriter. For another great sassy song, look up her live duet with Bryan Adams, Rock Steady.

When Bonnie Raitt won a Grammy this year for her song “Just Like That”, I gave all the nominated songs a listen, and it was no doubt the best song won,and by a great artist with only 142 million YT Subs. Kind of shows that great marketing doesn’t always win over real talent. Very moving song.

Bonnie is one of the greatest slide guitarists around. She has played with most of the surviving Blues Masters. She even started the Blues Foundation to financially support these old cats who didn’t get royalties or attribution for their songs in the past. She’s the real deal. ❤

In the mid 70s, every girl I knew in college was required to own at least one Bonnie Raitt album and one Carole King, namely Tapestry. I drove through a blizzard to see hear her at a ski resort. Me and about 20 other people braved the storm and had Bonnie all to ourselves. Awesome

She is a certified 'bad ass' soulful, bluesey rock singer! Her dad was a famous Broadway actor/singer. I saw her back in the early 70's when she was a first act before the Byrds. She came out w one guitar & her outrageous voice & shut up all the detractors that only wanted to see the featured artists, the Byrds. She told everyone to 'shut the #*% up and just listen!' And then she rocked the house!

Bonnie is a true legend of music of many different genres. She is simply amazing no matter what she does. This song became an inside joke between me and one of best friend gal pals when rumors started about us. So, we played those rumors up to where it showed how ridiculous it was for whom ever started the rumors. Even today we still laugh about it.

Good idea, gotta start with John Prine’s original though - preferably live. Doing them back to back would be awesome. Or a triple play concluding with Prine and Raitt singing and playing “Angel From Montgomery” together.

Bonnie is one of THE best slide guitarists ever. She worked a long time before commercial success hit. She was 45 when her Nick of Time album won the Grammy for best record. I remember the first time I heard her on the radio. Her song Nick of Time played right after Stevie RayVaughn’s Tightrope. It was a life changing music day for me, bcz it was my first time hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan too. Neither she or Stevie Ray, can be equaled in their gifts. I regret never getting to see Stevie Ray live , RIP. Bonnie, I have seen twice. Never disappoints.

Dolly Parton is in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, and protested her own inclusion.... and after her induction, made a rock album so that her induction made sense. Bonnie has largely been played on and charted in the country music genre. I'm not saying that it's correct pigeon holing her like that, but people do like narrow classifications

Written by homegirl Shirley Eikhard🇨🇦.Started hearing about her around the time i returned to Toronto from Vancouver, '78-ish. Met Shirley in '86 when she visited the manager of the restaurant I worked in, the owner had another place Shirley had performed in and they'd become friends. I, being a smoker, and Shirley being very averse and sensitive, hung well back so as not to trigger or offend. Anyhoo, great song, great interpreter in Bonnie, an all-round class act and top-tier talent. 😊❤ There was another red-haired slide-blues playing chick(!) named Ellen McIlwaine, who'd jammed with Jimi Hendrix, opened for numerous blues legends in NYC in the mid-60s, and relocated to Canada in the 80s, iirc, first Toronto, later Calgary. I caught an interview with her on a local TV station in '89 or '90 where she said her video for her new song was inspired by a show from the multilingual station at which I worked. I tried to tell the producers but they weren't interested. 😢 Ellen passed a year ago next week, sadly. Another class act. She was of the opinion that God thought She'd had such a great idea with the red-headed blues mama thang that She made two of 'em! ❤✨️🕊

Bonnie Raitt was a respected blues singer and slide guitarist for years but not a commercial success until the late 80s/early 90s. She was one the cover of Rolling Stone in the 70s after her legendary cover of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery", and played with Warren Zevon, Lowell George, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, many others. Many people knew her name, but it took a while to have major chart success. Since then though, she has become an icon of blues and roots music.

So many great songs and albums, it's almost not fair. She used to have the great Sippie Wallace open for her, recognizing her roots. I saw her with Jackson Browne doing an anti nukes benefit. My favorite Bonnie performance was at The Greek Theater in Berkeley. It was her brother's birthday. Her father was there, the legendary Broadway performer, John Raitt. He came out and sang Oklahoma with Bonnie and her band. Everyone was standing and raising their arms when the word Oklahoma was sung. Then they sang Happy Birthday, of course. She does look like Meryl Streep, though I never noticed it, another great talent. Bonnie is 73 and Meryl is 74. Great insights, as usual.

As a young woman, she had a record contract and released many albums which were NOT sassy, Years later, after experimenting with NOT sassy genres, this song was written my Delbert McClinton, another veteran musician who experimented with different genres without success. The movie might have been with one of the Quaid Brothers. Delbert McClinton was touring the R & B circuit in Europe in 70 years ago with the Beatles on the same bill. He taught John Lennon a little harmonica. The next Beatle song was "Love, Love me do"

This was "our song" when I needed someone to help me through some rough times. It wasn't a serious relationship - we both knew we weren't "the one" for the other, but that was okay. In reality life at the time was more like a Barry Manilow song -- but the public side of the relationship was all about giving them something to talk about. Thanks for the memories.

Bonnie Raitt's father was Broadway musical legend John Raitt, so she comes by her talent naturally. And just FYI, speaking on behalf of us natural redheads, we're all sassy, whether we can sing or not.

This was my mom's jam. When she needed to feel "her". She had to remind herself, F them folks...she's awesome, let'em talk about how she's a baaaad btc. She was fiery and would still worry about others' gossip but then she had friends who loved her that way. I am just like her and it's lonely when you tell folks exactly what they make you feel. That fearlessness is hard. In the 60's, it got you lifelong friends but in the 80's, it was cool until middle school. Then nope.

It was in the movie "Something to Talk About" with Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid. If memory serves me they were dancing to it.

Fun fact: one of the items in Prince's vault is an entire Bonnie Rait album that she and Prince produced & collaborated on for his Paisley Park label that Warner Brothers Records NEVER released!

It's also the theme to a movie by the same name starring Julia Robert's, Dennis McQuaid, Robert Duval, Kyra Sedgwick. One movie is a comedy, the other kind of a Rom-Com
