So lovely to see these girls! I was there volunteering on the day E17 got Missy with her little wonky beak, she is a star! Somhreat to see the transformation of the new girls, but so sad that this is what we do to them for our stomachs. Be kind everyone :)

Agree with everything you said re Heritage breeds. All ours are heritage or heritage mixes and we get plenty of eggs, and breeds like the Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Light Sussex & Australorp have plenty of meat on them to feed a family.

It's so important, isn't it?! These poor animals we've bred too far (in my opinion) for the sake of convenience and efficiency. Heritage breeds all the way!

It's very hard to find these days! KZfaq don't make it easy. If you click on the Brimwood Farm link under this video it'll take you to the main page. Click the 'About' tab. On the right hand side you should see some stats and underneath a little box with lines in it - that's the message tab. :D Alternatively, leave me your email address here as a reply and I'll grab it and then delete the comment so nobody else can have your email. :)

It hasn't as yet. Just waiting to suss out whether avian flu is going to start a lockdown. If not, the shows should be on and I'll be able to find myself a gosling.

them broiler meat chickens can be keept easy have food & water along way apart & they have to keerp walking to & from keeps them walking well & they never go of there legs I've done it with giant white tmeaturkeys & they was as fit as the wild type black & bronze turkeys same with s Saso meat Chuck's keep I'm on the move & low rations they live no different to silkies or leghorns

I’ve never seen ex broiler chickens for rehoming, that looks like something I would love to do! Who are they rescued by?

No, not a vegan! Ben (the guy who showed us his chickens this week) IS a vegan. I'm definitely not...I just like to know where my food's come from.
