Honestly, you gave your word to a man, and a man is his word. Repair the automatic for now, and the bring the new guy on board. Let him get reacquainted with a manual and get the restriction removed. Once that has happened and the finances work, put the 10 spd in International. Be a man of your word sir.🙏💜

Fly home. Jump in FLD to keep $ flowing. Put a 10 speed in Aerostar. Move on with plans. Truck shows will always be there when ur in better position.

If your driver is willing to get the restriction taken off then I’d say go with the 10 speed. If not then sadly I would bite that bullet and get the automatic fixed and keep my word. Respect goes a long way in this business. Good luck.

I’ve driven nothing but automatic transmission trucks for the last 15 years from Prostars to Macks to Volvo and never had trans problems so I don’t think they are any more or less reliable than manuals. Just my opinion from someone who has been a driver since 1972.

I would've changed the xy transmission sensor, and saved all that money the shop is gonna charge you.

He hasn't got the eaton fuller experience yet it looks like. Lol probably could have unhooked the battery and cycled the key to let the clutch reset and got moving. One thing I learned with the automated eaton trans is not to do anything fast.

I woud get it repaired and keep your word to the gentleman you're bringing on. Short term benefits will have long term effects on the business and your reputation. It may be a hassle right now but at least you know once you put the driver in the truck it wil be in tip-top condition and ready to make you all some money. keep grinding brother and making quality content!!

I've been reminded of how had a problem with a freight line. And that was a 2014. He had prompted the same problem that you're dealing with and stuff. The the FU can be a pain in the self cause of friend of mine he got rid of is. This is a 2014 and he bought A. In a 19. 97 K9 100 K9 100 South attract. Only innocent senior citizen he had on that truck. I think was like 98000 miles. But like you haven't, you're sleeping. Your Fleet is stuffy at backup truck and train down one end. And i'm not the truck but brother you're doing good keep up with little work

Sorry to see you broke down. Most importantly that you are safe and the breakdown happened at the receiver. Just take it one day at a time. Business don't always go in a straight line just as you think you are going great you're hit with a curve ball. Take care.

I’m wishing you would have known about this restriction thing before because you originally said you wanted to be putting a manual transmission in the truck and like you say the longevity of the automatic transmission is a poor thing to deal with!!!??? It’s definitely a tricky situation for you!!!!

keep the automatic there is alot more that goes into putting a manual trans have to change some stuff on the trucks ecu and add everything to put a manual trans in

If the actuator can be changed without complete clutch removal, do only that for now.

Keep auto for now for the new driver & less down time, & change to manual later & sell the auto to recoup some of the cost. That way you keep your word & come out good on your end down the road.

What exactly do the new driver want do if he has no problem driving manual get it and he could test in the pro star it may be a little set back if he agrees it's all good

It's a hard decision but I'd ask the new driver if he would be willing to go for the manual certification on his CDL. Use the FLD if he's willing. But time and revenue wise might be best to fix the automatic.

It’s weird how the transmission went out were there any signs of it going out while you were driving it???? I’d feel better if you had knowledge of it going bad while driving but to go out the way it did was unusual but handy it didn’t happen on the road or to the new driver it would have put him in a bad light if something like this happened to him on his first trip with the truck!!

I wish you could have gotten in touch with me I had that same problem. You can reset the transmission and put it in manual and if it works it's your rage selector and you also have a y and l sifter on top can be reached from inside the truck I'm in San Antonio and have shops that can help you out

brother as an owner op , i would have never touch an automatic trans. The cost of ownership is too much. One truck man show , play safe. A driver on todays market without a big bank is a risky move

Lonestar can you teach him to get his manual endorsement because the 10 sp would be less maintenance and a hell of lot more torque and pulling power let alone driveability but do what's financially feasible for you brother

Get the manual trans and give the driver couple hundred bucks so can get the restriction removed.

Sounds like you need a company credit card to use in cases like this. Places like rental and such need to be able to do a pre-auth on a card for an estimated amount that they can Capture the final total once done doing business with you, and Debt cards don't let merchants do that, they can only run the card as a complete Sale. Just get a credit card for your company and only use in cases or emergencies or to keep it active pay for something company related and pay it off right away to avoid finance charges.

🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂. Well, when you first got the truck, you did say if the trans ever messed up, you would want to put a manual transmission in it. I know that will be a tough decision to make. Yea you're right auto trans are trash. Manual trans are much easier and cheaper to work on.

Debt cards don't build credit... In the trucking industry, you will need a credit card in a jam... Credit is a part of a business platform. Credit cards are not the problem. Those who abuse them cause the problem? or those who don't pay the balance every month. If you're disciplined enough, pay them in full every month. They are a tool just like anything else... One can mishandled cash the same as mishandling a credit card.
