9:33 - That little block of wood with the screw in it is a brilliant idea! I would never have thought of it myself. Thanks a lot for the great tip!

One additional step I do, is alignment of the shank grain direction. I try to get thr grain as straight as possible to enhance strength and reduce deflection and bounce. I also like to use the liquid hide glue. In future, it can be removed easier..

Do you mean voicing or actually building a hammer?

I love your videos! Where do you get the handheld shank remover? I have the old style one from Schaff.

Thank you! I checked on Schaff's website and it looks like it's product number 131, if that's the one you mean. Hope that helps!!

@@MrPianoTech Thank you. I have one of those. The one I am talking about is the handheld one that you are squeezing to remove the hammer head. I had never seen one like that. :-)

@@Greeneguy1963 Hmm, yeah looking at a couple supply houses I can't find it. Maybe I have something unique :-). I've had it for a long time, probably leftover from old tech tools I've picked up over the years.

Thanks for this Michael, great info. Quick question, which heat gun do you recommend? I've seen the fancy pants one on Schaff but I'm wondering if that's necessary...

Hey Alex! I use a couple of different types so it doesn't need to be very specific, so long as it has a low setting it shouldn't matter. Most of the work that I do I keep it on low.

Great Video. Where did you get the hammer head angle drilling tool.

I got it at either Schaff or Pianotek Supply, I can't remember but either should have one.

How do I get the key out of the action. That's the only thing I watched for and you didn't show it
@MrPianoTech21 сағат бұрын
@@dustinsprague5083 The key or the hammer? Typically the hammer will be attached to the action by a flange at the bottom that is screwed into the action rail.
