Broken Promises: Jesus & The Second Coming
Jesus & Company of the First Century clearly and repeatedly expected, promised, and prophesied that the Second Coming would occur within the lifetime of the folks they spoke and wrote to. But the Second Coming never came, history marched on, thus proving Jesus to have been a false prophet.
Mark covers Futurist eschatology like flies on a corpse and spearheads Preterism as well. The idea that one can redefine everything to suite their bias position in the figure of Jesus becomes apparent when anyone takes a study in the various forms of Full Preterism.

The thing about most religions is this -> When there are no constraints then anything is permitted. This is why religion is so easy and science is so hard. Science's constraint is reality and religion doesn't share this shackle so its free to make it up as it goes.

It’s not fiction though. It’s cosmological and anatomical. It’s the story of how we all came to be and some of what to expect on the journey. To disregard it as purely fiction is erroneous in my opinion and will completely blind someone to the true meanings. I would advise someone wanting to learn more about the Bible is to start looking at the common symbols. Tree of Life, Star of David, the cross itself.. and how these have been used by many a culture millennia before Christianity began. It’s a beautiful search for knowledge but I’ll tell you what I tell everyone else. You can complicate or simplify as much as you want- it’s up to you. But the grand plan and master point of everything, the greatest commandment written in the Bible, is to “seek God with all your heart and love one another”. That makes Jesus’ teachings true- because they’re about love. And that makes a lot of other teachings from other places and sources true- if they’re about love. God is love and we are to love one another. That is all that truly matters. Don’t let anything take that away from you. ❤

It is difficult to leave religion or anything that you have spent so much time believing. No one wants to be wrong. Carl Sagan said this -- “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It is simply too painful to acknowledge -- even to ourselves -- that we've been (taken.)so credulous. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back. (So the old bamboozles tend to persist as the new bamboozles rise.)”

But after running past some problems with the New Testament I started to change my mind, it wasn’t a fast change it took another 6 years of studying and really seeking the lord but I had to be honest with my self and others. The hardest part was hurting the other people that thought of me as someone who was near to God, I could have just lied to others to keep them from getting hurt and I would have a pretty good job but something inside me wouldn’t allow it. As of now I have went over every piece of evidence for Christianity so there’s nothing else to go over and I highly don’t want to waist more time doing so, so thanks for doing theses videos I believe if someone wants to be a Christian they need to take a New Testament class, or studying the heck out of the Bible and history of christianity than I believe they wouldn’t join and get hurt in the end.

There is--and has been for years--a crying need for Smith’s book. The first I heard of it was when Derek plugged it in a previous podcast. I bought the ebook straightaway and devoured it. I fully agree with Derek when he says the book is "more exhaustive than any of the material I've seen on the topic"; and yes, the book does indeed destroy the doctrine of the Second Coming, as he went on to state. My realization that Jesus was a failed doomsday prophet some 20 years ago was when I washed my hands of Catholicism and of all Christianity and became an agnostic-atheist. (I had other objections, of course, but that realization was the last and biggest straw.) I've never looked back, nor is there any possibility I'd ever return to it. In this podcast Smith stated (18:50) that Matthew 24:34 is "the first clue" of Jesus's status as a failed doomsday prophet, which surprised me. Isn't the first clue found in Mark, the first of the Gospels? The very first words out of Jesus's mouth there are: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand . . ." (1:14). Curiously, this verse isn't discussed in his book, either. He only discuss Mark 9:1 and 13:1-37. At 1:03:35 Smith stated that if Jesus was indeed a false prophet, then this means "an entire worldview change" for Christians, involving such painful possibilities as divorce, job loss, shunning by friends and relations, etc. That's certainly true. But what's more basic and demands even greater emphasis is that if Jesus was a false prophet, then it follows necessarily that he was not God incarnate, he was not the savior of the world sent to right Adam's wrong, and he sure as shit didn't rise from the dead. Smith rightly hammers home so much else in his book, why this isn't even stated so much as once is a disappointing omission. A couple of minor criticisms: First, though Smith rightly pointed out that 2 Peter is a forgery, he failed to say the same of 2 Thessalonians (both in this podcast and in his book), an epistle which is also practically unanimously regarded as inauthentic, though it's certainly relevant to Smith's argument.. Second, Smith made a point of emphasizing (18:50) that in Matthew 24:34, Jesus uses the word "truly," not once but twice. In fact, he only says it once.

Thank you for the substantial review. I'm going to print it out & keep it to help me with a future 2nd edition. As to your points... good idea about adding the consequences of Jesus having been a false prophet. That could be a chapter in itself. I guess I'm so used to trying to prove my point that I never considered someone saying "OK, I agree, now what?". It's a bit like the car-chasing 🐕 dog finally catching a car- now what? You are correct about the # of "truly's" in Mt 24:34, I think in the excitement of the interview I had a brain fart & added one too many. @@The_Original_JCnot4me Thanks for taking the time to reply, Mark. Greatly appreciated! You'll want to know that I did in fact review your book on Amazon, even before I reviewed it here, under the name nomoGods4me. Sound familiar? JCnot4me? :-) I'm glad you adverted to what I had to say about the inferences that flow necessarily from Jesus's status as failed apocalypticist. All the debate about the resurrection is to me perfectly irrelevant in light of the fact that JC was CLEARLY a failed doomsday prophet. How does it NOT follow that he couldn't have possibly been raised from the dead? Paul wrote that if Jesus has not been raised , then the faith of Christians is futile (1 Corinthians 15:14) . I see it differently, and I'm guessing you'll agree: Since Jesus failed to show when he said he would, the faith of Christians is futile. Period. In my book, that, all by itself, renders the resurrection a non-issue. Some might call that simplistic; I call it the plain and simple truth of the matter. As Bill Zuersher writes in his excellent, clear-sighted book, Seeing Through Christianity , "The failure of Jesus's personally prophesied second coming is clear disconfirmation of his divinity and of the religion created in his wake" (p. 123)--which includes, it wants emphasizing, the doctrines of redemption and the resurrection. Thank you again for your reply, Mark. For chrissakes, keep up the good work! :-) I take you up on your invitation to email you, but first I want to explore your website.

Really excellent points...."For the Son of Man is about *to come [mello] in the glory* of his Father with His angels; and will recompense every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. [Mat 16:27-28] The Markan version is even more instructive: For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when *he comes in the glory* of his Father with the holy angels. And he was saying to them, Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power. [Mk 8:38-9:1] To "come in power" is an expression that has special importance for the apocalyptists, like the authors of Daniel, the Apocalypse of John, 4 Ezra, and 2 Baruch. It denotes a TOTAL alteration of time and the earth, and an end to normal history. I think the CS Lewis quote was something like, Jesus was "was omniscient as God, and ignorant as Man."

U are taking a couple verses wildly out of context and based on no knowledge. Thise two verses are alwaaaays used by such people, as nobody would sensibly use them as they hold no value. For starters u need the original translation, not church ones that change words. Jesus merely said the people alive in his days wud see the coming of the Reign of God. He also said the reign of God is within you. It was enacted at his resurrection. He said many wars and epochs would pass but the end is not yet. Many who see the fundamental honesty of preterism in dealing with Eschatology still have problems. I believe it is because many who come to see the issues surrounding 70 AD come to see that several espousing either full or partial [mainly] preterism retain many of the beliefs of the church they still support. Preterism is not a “church” but rather a belief system. The implications of full preterism change how one looks at many things.

I went to church as a kid with my family, a Pentecostal church. I didn't like it and felt it ruined my life in a way and helped in another. We went to church 5 days a week. I asked the tough questions cause a lot of things didn't make sense to me. As i got older i stop going but then a few years later i started going again thru an invitation but with no interest. I kept going in and out. When i was 19 i spoke in tongues in my house, not in church like i saw with others. I saw my mom go thru it but she barely went to church at that point cause she had bad legs. It felt incredible but i didn't jump like the people in church nor shouted loud, I just spoke in tongues thru the Holy Spirit. I didn't understand what i was saying, still don't know. I'm 52 now and even thou i had that experience i still don't want to go to church. I feel conflicted with what i learned over the years and learning things from Egypt, the Anunnaki which makes the most sense to me. and all these things that don't make sense in the bible. I'm no longer religious, I consider myself Spiritual. I experienced the holy spirit and my question is, does the holy spirit come from something else? I ask because it looks like Christianity piggy backed from other Ancient Cultures. It conflicts me, confuses me. I read how the Conquistadors tortured people in the name of Jesus, how his real name is Yoshua and the J didn't exist in those days. the winters Solstice connection, how the bible was created and how everything is based on the Zodiac and i never saw the blind see again, or people healed in Jesus name. I do agree with Author of Broken Promises. I do think the book of revelation's has to do with the past. I also at one point did put things to the side because of people preaching that Jesus was coming. That was in the 90s and here we are in 2023. I know i wrote a lot but i tried to make it as short as i could.

1. Why does God use time-restricted statements about the fulfillment of prophecy if He didn’t mean it-such as: must shortly take place/near/soon (Revelation 1:1-3; 22:6-20), it is the last hour (1 John 2:18), this generation (Matthew 23:29-24:2; 24:34), etc.? Can God tell time? Is He the author of confusion? 2. When were these Second Coming passages fulfilled: Matthew 10:23 “before the disciples had finished going through the towns of Israel” and Matthew 16:27-28 “before some standing there died?” How about Hebrews 10:37 “in a very, very little while?” Can you name even 5 Second Coming passages that don’t have a time restriction implied? 3. If “soon” (Revelation 1:1-3; 22:6-20) means thousands of years later, does that mean it was going to take Timothy thousands of years to be sent to the Philippians by Paul (Philippians 2:19)? If “soon” means thousands of years later, why do we see it qualified with “must shortly take place” in the same passages? 4. If the teaching that one day is as a 1,000 years, and a 1,000 years is as a day to the Lord. . . does that mean the 1,000 years are a single 24 hour day (2 Peter 3; Revelation 20)? Does that mean that Jesus was in the grave 3,000 years? 5. If Revelation was written after AD 70, why is the temple mentioned in Revelation 11:1 as still standing? And why does Revelation 17:10 say that it was being written during the reign of the 6th king, who was Nero who died in AD 68? 6. If the Great Tribulation is still future to us, why did Jesus tell the first century Christians that they could avoid it by fleeing to the mountains (Matthew 24:16; 21)? And why did the Apostle John tell his readers a few years later that THEY were in the tribulation (Revelation 1:9)? If these prophecies were to be fulfilled thousands of years later, why did Jesus proclaim that his generation marked the Days of Vengeance to “fulfill ALL that is written” (Luke 21:22)? 7. Does any mention of the “last days” or equivalent (last times, last hour) in the New Testament clearly refer to any time outside of the first century (Acts 2:17; 2 Timothy 3:1; Hebrews 1:2; James 5:3; 1 Peter 1:20; 2 Peter 3:3; Jude 18; 1 John 2:18)? 8. If the biblical “last days” started in the first century, but continue to this day, why did Peter say the end of all things was AT HAND (1 Peter 4:7, 17) and John said it was THE LAST HOUR (1 John 2:18)? 9. If “this generation” of Matthew 24:34 means a far distant generation, do any other “this generation” passages outside of the Olivet Discourse in the New Testament refer to a time other than that of Jesus’ contemporaries (Matthew 11:16-24; 12:38-45; 16:4; 17:17; 23:35-36; Mark 8:12; 8:38-9:1; 9:19, and Luke 7:31; 9:41; 11:29-32, 49-51; 17:25; Acts 2:40)? 10. If Jesus was to return in a physical, visible appearance to the whole world, why did He tell his first-century disciples (John 14:19) that the world would never see him again?

But you do better if you do not because then you can serve Jehova more fully...you can dedicate all your spare time to your service. And Noah and his family are an example for the Witnesses: they did not have any children according to the Bible. They focused on doing God's will and building the arch. Some Jehovah's Witnesses are even afraid or ashamed of telling they are expecting! I was told, that now is not the time to have children! I should focus on preaching :)

Hello from Greece! I have a question concerning the interpretation of the Greek verb μέλλω (mello) The common interpretation of the verb in modern and biblical Greek is “to be about to” So, generally speaking describes intention to, future (actually the future in Greek is: το μέλλον, to mellon), and some times paradoxically and in relationship to the text, it can be used even to indicate delay. However, I don’t think that we can interpret it by itself as: soon. Now, the word ταχύς (tahis in modern Greek pronunciation) is definitely translated as fast or soon, or shortly, or quickly. (Page 7 of the book) So, am I missing something in the interpretation of the verb μέλλω? Thanks for the wonderful MythVision!

I didn't always believe. I was once a center-of-my-own-universe Atheist. I didn't change. God changed me. I was definitely blind, but now I see. But not of my own doing. John 3:3-7 Jesus did come. Just not in the way most people today expect. I do think educated people in the 1st century were actually more intelligent than people today, on average. The learned people understood Greek, which is a more advanced and nuanced language than English. Jesus did come - in judgment. Anyone who is able to read the text in context and apply audience relevance to consider what it meant for those who first heard the prophecies Jesus spoke, or the things Paul or John spoke about to their audiences, can understand what's being said, assuming three things: 1. They haven't been brainwashed by false futurist eschatological 'experts' who write books and make fictional movies like Left Behind. This describes most evangelical Christians today. 2. They understand what the Old Testament prophets were saying and understood their descriptions of God coming in judgment against Egypt, Edom and Babylon; 3. They can understand how to recognize and interpret literary forms like simile and metaphor and hyperbole from the surrounding context; 4. They are able to understand at least a little Greek and know how to make use of a resource like Strong's Concordance to help with translations and subtleties of Greek not present in English. Full preterism is true and can be proven from the Bible. All prophecies have been fulfilled in the past with the exception of those currently being fulfilled as in the parable of the kingdom of God, which grows as a tiny mustard seed (i.e., a dozen disciples) into over a hundred thousand believers who escaped Jerusalem's destruction in AD70, to literally millions today. According to Pew Research, "Christians comprise just under a third of the world's people, they form a majority of the population in 158 countries and territories, about two-thirds of all the countries and territories in the world." That matches the symbolism of a tiny mustard seed growing into a large tree to cover the earth. As much as Atheists might not want to acknowledge this fact, the gospel is going out to ALL nations over time. And thus, it's being accomplished exactly as Jesus prophesied. This is for those with ears to hear and eyes to see. Not all can see or enter an invisible kingdom - you must be born again in order to see or enter: John 3:3-7 says this explicitly. Suggested reads: Last Days According to Jesus (Sproul) Before Jerusalem Fell (Gentry) The Parousia (J. Stuart Russel)

Great book and wonderful insights... and he's RIGHT! That is, right up to his conclusion: "If Jesus actually was a false prophet, which is the point of my book, using his own words to convict him..." - Mark A. Smith (1:03:35) And right there we find the fatal flaw in what is an otherwise wonderfully insightful and even quite brilliant effort on Mark's part: Assuming the Gospels are historical transcripts. Very little if any of what we find in the New Testament are His "own words"! Instead, they are the adulterated words placed in Yeshua's (Jesus') mouth by certain men falsely claiming to have been His "apostles" so as to justify their founding and leading a religion He never started... and then further twisted out of context by Saul(Paul) to promote HIS even more grandiose adulterated version of THEIR false religion. Sadly, who and what the historical Yeshua was ... has never been realized, never understood. Thus, neither has His real "Second Coming" that did indeed occur in the 1st Century and exactly as He stated it would. Yeshua came NOT as a "doomsday prophet," nor the "Messiah," much less as any sort of worldwide "Savior"... but, instead, as the literal "Son of God" (a la Genesis 6:1-4) and for an entirely different mission and purpose than what the "apostles" fabricated to justify founding and leading a new religion with THEM at its head. Yeshua's mission was very specific and very limited... as He so stated (one of the few passages that actually ring true given it so contradicts all the later statements falsely placed in His mouth), that He came not to the World nor even to the Jews, in general... but instead ONLY to "the lost sheep of the House of Israel" to gather them together one LAST TIME... and lead them out of Israel as its FINAL HARVEST prior to the destruction of Israel that occurred ca. 70 CE. And that is exactly what He did. Yeshua "failed" only in that He did not fulfill all the FALSE claims made by the "apostles" regarding Him... while instead perfectly fulfilling all His own actual pronouncements and prophecies regarding a very specific Bloodline for which purpose Israel, itself, had been created to protect and nurture... of which Bloodline Yeshua was, Himself, also part. Following His crucifixion, which He survived thanks to the assistance of some of His TRUE disciples (yes, the women)... which crucifixion was made necessary to reveal the "apostles" as the true "wolves in sheep's clothing" they were and, thus, leave them behind (pure genius on Yeshua's part)... He then returned a SECOND TIME back to Galilee, just as He had told His disciples He would... where all His true "flock" (those same "lost sheep" of Israel) were assembled awaiting that very return, the "return of the Bridegroom"... having "sold all that (they) had" in preparation. And when He arrived, "like a thief in the night" as the "apostles" remained in Jerusalem that weekend... Yeshua and His TRUE flock... that "final harvest"... quietly departed north out of Israel. And from that point on, we hear no more of Mary Magdalene nor Salome... nor any others of all who previously had truly followed Yeshua and ministered to Him throughout His "ministry." Only when you decipher who and what those "Lost Sheep of the House of Israel" were and still are will you also finally unravel what the false "apostles" never did: Exactly what the "Mystery of the Kingdom of God" on Earth is... and exactly who and what the historical Yeshua was. A great book and well researched... right up to its unfortunate conclusions for having been founded on a very common, very understandable -- yet also very false premise.

First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.” They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water, through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

The perpetual cliffhanger culture. People are always expecting Jesus to come so they don’t have to experience death. Unfortunately people keep falling off the cliff unfulfilled. Well, there are enough mistakes to spread around, but the problem is the first person in the chain of fidelity is least likely to have made mistakes, given that if that first person makes a mistake, NT he probability that a later story teller makes a mistake that replaces the first mistake. Bart Erhman does not actually give anything of what Jesus said as actually being historical, so the we are left with estimating some probability of what Jesus said. Mark is correct concerning the fate of Jeruselum. Josephus certainly was not an unbiased source of information, but on the account of the death of James the Just, he describes the assailant as a bold man with an ill temper. The same Anunus goes on to become the religious leader of the rebels in the Roman Jewish war. IMO, it was not the crucifixion of Jesus, which I think Jesus and his immediate followers had factored into what would happen, but the execution of James and the a Jewish-Roman war that was the basis for anti-Jewish writings in the New Testament. One interpretation was the throwing of James ‘story’ is the abomination that causes Yahweh to abandon the temple and the Jews in the minds of Christians (I would call the Jesus following Jews, but by this time it’s pretty clear the the Jewish parse is decimated and mostly non Israeli and/or Gentile followers are what remain. Did Jesus make a mistake or did the writer of Matthew make a mistake. Here is the basic problem that I have, this is the three body system in which Christianity is a small little asteroid being tossed around as it circles the Sun. Judaism is like Mars and Grecoroman paganism is like Jupiter and it’s many moons. But somehow, in this three body system the unimaginable happens, Jupiter and manages to slam into Mars breaking it into 1000 pieces, which then over time causes the asteroid to grow and the asteroid slams into Jupiter and breaks it into pieces and assume the orbit of the asteroid. So let’s break down what happens. The Roman empires Pax Romana was a force of nature, while largely beneficial its wake created things like King Herod, whose authority the Romans did not question except in the obedience to the Roman (literally appointed by Roman legislators) contracts. The governing body of Rome had a history of abuses which created instability in the peninsula, but as long as the empire prospered . . .. The problem is the outlying territories. While we can question the validity of John the Baptist critique, the Jews were growing impatient with Roman rule. Consequently sectarian visions of the end-days, i.e. the departure of the Roman Empire, became more prevalent. Anunius was a sadducee, orthodox, and this was apparently not a Jesus version of a messianic figure, and ultimately not anyone’s. Jesus believed that son of man would be escorted by a messianic figure who would overthrow the infidels and restore the kingdom of god, and naturally he would be the leader. Obviously by the time he reaches Jeruselum his fate would be changed. So I think in this respect, yes, Jesus was in error, but the error may have been equating beliefs in the Galilee region with beliefs in Jerusalem. It may have come with the recognition that the Jews in Israel are too far gone to reconstitute the kingdom, or at least the leadership. Again I don’t think he or James saw what was coming in Jerusalem, if they did they certainly have gotten the followers there they hell out of Dodge’ in 61 AD. So, I think he and his disciples tried to alter their focus on being a leaderless spiritual movement within the diaspora. Again John was the original leader, he was executed by basically another Jewish leader, then a Jesus became the target and he was handed over by the Sanhedrin, and finally James was executed by an ill-tempered Naer do well. The asteroid is thrown from its orbit 3 times and yet survives in its orbit and yet what follows defies rational explanation. So how then does this become the largest belief system in the world. A very strange Jew has a very strange vision on the side of the road, makes a lot of foolish mistakes, probably does a few things that gets James killed, is despised by Peter and John/Mark, but within about 20 years has solidified the foundations of a religious movement that eventually takes over the Roman Empire, Jupiter falls into the orbit of the dinky asteroid. That’s the problem I have, in the effort to destroy the dinky Jesus followers, which they effectively do creating a self destructive wake; it’s almost as if, yes, Jesus did not take out the Romans or the Sanhedrin as he imagined. Instead, they took him out thrice over and then destroyed themselves, whoopsie, and some variant Jesus body loaded with BS myths comes in and takes over. Somewhere buried under all the various faux pas is the real Jesus. I am still curious what this celestial jester really had to say. If a man had faith as small as a mustard seed . . . . .Constantine, Trinities, Canon, Orthodoxy, Reformation, Enlightenment . . . must have been a better way to go about this.

Whew! That's a lengthy explanation/speculation rivaling my own - when I make a comment on a you tube Channel. ;) I'm in the process of writing a lengthy comment above yours - as to why I believe Jesus actually kept his promises to return - soon - in that 1st century age and also why He will Keep His promise to return a final time - in our modern age. But I haven't quite completed that comment yet as it requires some research as I go - on the fly - so to speak as all of my comments are impromptu and mostly spur of the moment - initially - that do indeed need some clarification as I proceed to explain - why - I make the comments I do ;) In your case though I think a recommendation for a book of a biblical scholar friend of mine that he recently published - might actually help explain to you - how a relatively very few or handful of converted followers of Christ were able to make such a big splash in history - to the extent that Christianity expanded so rapidly that there is simply no explanation for that exponential growth to finally encompass all of Western Civilization - in a very small time-frame - from that 1st century beginning. Until Clay's book came along a year or so before last year - that is - compiling over 35 years of unique research and observations. You will not have seen anything like Clay's book on the market anywhere - as the insights Clay has are quite unique and his researches quite far reaching - in order to show where our Western world Civilization originated from and subsequently where it might be heading into the future of our modern age. So.... here's that book title - shown at his You tube Channel - that will actually save me from writing a further lengthy explanation under your unique commentary. :) The End from the Beginning (The Origin of Western Civilization) 281 views •Jan 15, 2019 Thirty-five years of research has produced a different concept of the origin of Western Civilization, tracing its origin through nations and people many of whom you've likely never heard. For the first time, the exponential growth in the first 3 Centuries A. D. of the church that Jesus established is linked to the Hand of God sequestering a large portion of His “chosen people” - the “lost sheep of the House of Israel “ - in the Parthian Empire where Jesus’ apostles could teach them about our Savior and His New Covenant with mankind without the oppression of the Roman Empire Later, the descendants of those Christianized Israelites migrated to Europe and took part in the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the scientific and industrial revolutions and the Christian Reformation. Afterward, they helped form Western Civilization to complete the process of spreading the Gospel of Jesus and the physical blessings God promised Abraham. The origin of Western Civilization is traced to its beginning 4,000 years ago. The culture and economic and political hegemony of Western Civilization today was planned by a mind that resides outside of time. In the process of that story, you will find answers to some interesting questions; you may also find your Christian faith strengthened or - if you're a non-believer - you may have new reasons for taking another look at that way of life. Clay also has a website/blog site that covers his extensive and somewhat colourful background in life - so here's the link to that also as he advertises his book there as well - showing his 'unabashed “marketing” of that book.' - as he puts it ;) www.claytonwillis.com/ Incidentally, if you happen to like Clay's 'music' - as he puts it - at his website - unfortunately, only one recording of his at that site is playable - for some reason and I haven't been able to contact Clay recently in order to let him know those other recordings of his music career don't work at that site - but one that I personally liked when he sent me a sample of his records when we first teamed up on the internet to write on various topics over the course of a decade or more together - turned up at another You tube channel so I'll list the link to that also and he wrote that one especially as a tribute to his dad: Clay Willis & Georgia Clay - Georgia Clay 331 views •Sep 3, 2020 Country music from Armadillo Killer

Meaning that the rapture isn't true if what apostle Paul wrote is the opposite of what Jesus said, 'Tell my people I'm coming.'

I get you're enthused about the content but I encourage you to watch back the video and consider how many cups of coffee you had prior to the interview. :-) It seemed like the first 40+ minutes your did 80% of the speaking. I appreciated being provided the definitions (Preterist / Futurist) as I was raised an agnostic atheist and Christian vocab is not embedded in my lexicon. My suggestion is to ask your guest the questions and have them fill in the blanks. Openers might have been: Who are you? What are your credentials? Did you de-convert? What was your personal Christain history? How did you come to write your book? How is your book structured / chapters organized? etc. And let the other person do 80% of the talking. Do I have a channel? No. Is this hypocrisy on my part? idk Generally, I enjoy your content and I encourage you to do more with perhaps taking my suggestions into consideration. I wish you the best in the future ... Although my 'wishes' are meaningless as an atheist, but hopefully you can embrace my use of the vernacular in this regard. LOL

I agree only a teensy bit in that I wish they were both on the same energy level. Perhaps the guests need a warm up time to get energized. I love the Brent Blankenagle discussions because he is FULL of energy when speaking. Derek, Brent and David all have energy at similar levels. Derek is trying. But some people have repressed energy that is also maybe a bit nervous.

But that would also be so boring if Derek dropped his energy level down to this guest’s level. gotta juice the guests up sometimes maybe.

Agreed with both. I neglected to hedge when I wrote my comment that there might have been an agreement prior to the talk that framed how it would occur. And/or known what 'energy level' someone would bring and react accordingly. Thank you both.
