YOU ARE A GODSEND! A "reputable" shop in Pensacola worked on my edger before it ran out of warranty. The pull cord 90% of the time had no tension on it. They still charged for a new belt and installation. Recently, the pull cord broke on one of the rare occasions that it had tension. I'm 72, retired, got way more time than money, so I took it apart using your video. When they reassemble the edger, they actually put the belt on wrong on the center pulley explaining why it never cut right when it did work! Anyway, I ordered a new starter housing assembly($32 on Amazon)reassembled it with e belt on right, and it works better than when it was brand new. I'm fortunate I have all the tools I need and am reasonably good with them. MOST of all, I am fortunate I found your video!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Outstanding video, THANK YOU! Easy step-by-step instructions that work. An easy but stupidly laborious 2 hour job for first-timers like me, but probably done in 45 minutes after you've done it once before and no longer need to figure out what tools you'll eventually need and watch the video while working.

Do you happen to know if there’s a way to adjust the tension on the belt? I don’t see it in the manual and the blade slips when it digs too into deeply into the ground. Or perhaps the belt just needs to be replaced.

Wow! I own a small engine repair shop and only really work on commercial grade 2 cycle machines and this video shows why? Most of these Hardware store machines are really not designed for repair and instead to be replaced. These machines as of the date my post here are selling for $230.00. Just not worth the cost of labor and parts for such an inexpensive machine that unfortunately is difficult to work on.

Yes but after using it a few times it stripped the socket drive in the edger, so it no longer worked. The video is excellent and replacing the rope with a better grade "diamond" type USA-made rope from Amazon was the solution.

Hey ? Why do u need to put rope in the top
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 3 жыл бұрын
without the rope in the top, when you try to remove the clutch, the will turn instead. So you need to keep the engine from turning.

I made it up to next remove the belt from the clutch drum. Damn belt won’t come off…
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 4 ай бұрын
I can't remember but there should be a tensioner assembly applying tension on the belt. You should be able to work the belt, on the edge of the pulley and then turn the blade to help the belt walk off the pulley
@beautifulla2893
@beautifulla2893 3 ай бұрын
@@HomeGaragechannelthanks! That did the trick! Got through the whole process and the new pull rope is working great! I think I put that belt back on wrong though since the blade is only spinning at about it 25% its previous strength. I’m going to have a look at that today. Thanks for the video though it was a huge help!

The easiest fix is to buy better quality equipment in the first place(no offense meant). Any equipment that doesn’t have the recoil on the outside easily accessible with 3-4 screws is a no go. The cheaper box store stuff has the recoil buried under the clutch where you have to take the whole thing apart and most people just trash it.
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 3 жыл бұрын
None taken. I totally agree with you on the better equipment. I would assume its a cost issue. Some people would rather save a few dollars then get better equipment.
