This video troubleshoots a Troy-Bilt TB516EC walk-behind edger that was found on the side of the road. The edger included a note stating it needed new fuel lines. It was also discovered that the unit was also overfilled with engine oil, which contributed to other issues.

I have the same machine (bought used) but the fuel lines are at the bottom of the carburetor not the top like yours, I replaced the fuel lines as you greatly explained, but the bulb will not such fuel no matter how many times I squeezed it. Any expert suggestions? please! model TB516 EC. and thank you for the excellent video.

Hi Abed. Is it possible you have the fuel lines reversed on the carbruetor? Try switching the lines and see if that works.

I have the same edger I bought new. At first I wasn't sure about it with the short pull on the rope start making it difficult to start, but after I got the drill adapter to start it, its is my favorite edger.

Nice work, I have the TB515, looks the same, working on replacing the fuel lines as you read this. I think on the oil fill decal it says how much and what kind of oil to fill it with, here is a quote from the manual: Refill the crankcase with 3.04 fluid ounce (90 ml or 3/8 cup) of SAE 30 SF, SG, SH oil. Good job! Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the video, I have the same issues, you said fuel line is 3/16 OD, What is the ID please. 3/32 or 1/8 ID ? And mine also has fuel lines on the bottom of the carb. Did they make some with updraft carb, or did someone else take it apart and put it back together wrong? Thanks for your help.

Hi Rick. Should be 3/32 ID. Interesting question about the carb orientation. I'm not sure, although it is a bit odd that the fuel lines cross in front of the purge bulb. I'll have to take another look and see if the carb will orient with the fuel barbs at the bottom.

Just found one of these on the side of the road, said it’s free but leaks oil through the air filter. Apparently the top oil fill hole wasn’t the best design choice as plenty of people overfill the oil.

Problem I have on a curbside 29cc Craftsman edger the blade will not stop turning do you know a way of how to fix it, also after watching your video I wound up buying a new carburetor and gas tank everything installed running fine just now the blade will not stop turning

Hi Frank. You can first try adjusting the idle screw at the carburetor to slow the idle speed so the clutch disengages. Otherwise the clutch assembly may be worn and need replacement.

If when you push the bulb it fills can you assume the hoses are ok? I think I put wrong gas, the oil gas mix in mine and am trying to trouble shoot it not starting? Also which was is choke and is choke easier to start?
@BlackHoleDIY
@BlackHoleDIY Жыл бұрын
@raymiller764, yes that's a safe assumption. However, if the hoses are hard or brittle they really should be replaced. You'll want to use the choke for cold starts.

Hi Larry. I am not sure. I dont know all that is involved with modifying a small engine like this to work on a cruiser bike. I imagine it is possible. Hopefully there's someone who reads your comment and is able to provide some insight.
