A Met Office Source was quoted by Radio Mesopotamia as saying the freezing arctic snowstorm that has been expected for 4 days has stsrted this evening in many parts of The British Isles, taking the country by compkete surprise. Almost 1mm of powder snow (about 1/25th of an inch) settled causing flakes to fall on vehicle windscreens requiring wipers to be switched on. Despite amber warnings and motoring organisations pleading drivers to stay home if possible, some foolhardy individuals set out with little fuel in their tanks, no warm clothing, blankets, food, water or torches on board. And of course no British car owner has ever owned snow chains. Obviously all these alarmist precautions are "yet another example of the nanny state going overboard". It's not even like Britain has ever had snow before and ground to a complete standstill. Snowstorm in a teacup.

Oh, come on, play fair. I remember the winter of 1736 where the Thames froze over, and snow reached the roofs. And in 847 the whole of Pryttynn was under a mile of ice and snow. Never did us any harm. In an emergency, we killed a mammoth and lived inside it for weeks at a time, until we had eaten it and had to find another one. People have it too soft these days, not like when I was a lad. Even the cave didn't have a door, and sometimes not even a dry floor, a sheet of ice on cool days. People need to toughen up. And I'll do you a favour by telling you the "Secret of Eternal Life". KEEP BREATHING. Never did me any harm. I'm as sane as you.

@@iskrajackal9049 - My comment made more sense in my head LOL. Im British but I live in Bulgaria, and I am always amazed how things just continue as normal here when it snows. The snow arrived over night and genuinely unexpectedly - it was supposed to miss us. The city put on extra buses and sent out a text saying "dont bother driving get the bus - extra busses in service". Even in the countryside the roads are open when it snows, farmers are required by law to own a snow plough for the tractor and clear the road to the next farm. It just takes a little bit of effort and planning to keep a country moving. Not a thing the UK is known for...

A few days ago I woke up around 4am and it was extraordinarily light - a glance through the window showed there was a blanket of snow. Well, maybe a sheet. Or a tissue. Anyway, it was sticking. I snuggled back in bed, fearing the worse. Later, I muffled up warm and went out with a shovel and brush to clear the paths and driveway. Someone had clearly made a start on the side roads already. By late afternoon the snow had mysteriously disappeared. No sign of it anywhere. Climate deniers will say it just thawed but for it to go that quickly shows evidence of global warming, doesn't it? Worrying. 😂

So today we do what the news say we stay home wait for the milkman, we got couple of things to deal with as soon as the postman delivered them, Amazon bring the bed this afternoon so tonight we will be exhausted so we will finish the day with a takeaway pizza or a curry.
