You are spot on about the Ghost. I actually wear tested the first Ghost many years ago when I worked at now closed Metro run and walk in Virginia

It seems like this version of the ghost, with the enhanced foam, will be a definite upgrade. I’ve only had one ghost and it was the version 14, when they came out with the beer inspired color way. I prefer fun looking shoes so BROOKS definitely fits that bill for me.

I'm 300lbs and Ghost 16 feels like it is being squished. I was going to use it mainly in the gym but my heels keeps squishing the back side of the shoes. I guess I'll stay with Beast 23 for now.

I have been stuck for two weeks about choosing a Brooks shoe. I have these in my cart as well as Catamount 3 and Cascadia 15. I walk trails and also go off road so that is the only reason I haven’t purchased the ghost yet. I absolutely LOVE the colors which is my favorite thing about it. But I pause because it is a running shoe and not a trail shoe. Can I also wear these on trails? I need a reason to just buy these now. The tread is important.

The Brooks Ghost can handle a variety of terrains with it's thick rubber outsole coverage, but for trails the Cascadia and Catamount are the way to go! - Brandon

Wow, refreshingly honest review! I actually love the DNA Loft v3 in the Glycerin, though I agree it loses responsiveness in later miles. And the designs look great, which is an area where Brooks has been lagging in the last few years.
