Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► / brosofdecay
Today's exploration tells the story of the French family Albin, a traditional agricultural family who lived, loved, and laughed on the ground around the property which they build themselves around two centuries ago. The last inhabitants of this property were the loving couple Renee and Yvette, and unlike their forefathers who raised very big families, they had only one child. His name was Silvia and he meant the world to them! After a long and happy life Renee passed away in the year 2003 and he was unfortunately followed only a few years later by his son Silvia. Naturally, Yvette was devastated, but after a period of grief, she realized that life was short and spent her last years gathering experiences and traveling the world. After Yvette left earth for good, nobody was left to take over the farm and this once loved place got desolate and abandoned. Together we will relive their story and bring it into infinity.

It is nice to see Jordie out with you again on this one. For a lot of old farms, the fewer rooms, the easier it was to heat, especially as most of the heat came from the wood stove. Pommes de Terre means apples of the earth, and refers to potatoes, the box contained puréed potatoes in a dry form to which you added water and cooked for mashed potatoes, or potato soup. I grew up on a self sufficiency farm with an orchard for its cash crop. That house too was small, and heated by the wood stove in its centre. We had an outhouse when I was young, and remember how excited we were to get a modern inside bathroom. Thanks for showing us this home and farm, it was lovely.🖤🇨🇦

Wonderful farm explore. I would think the concrete block shed (22.40) would have been for chickens; the 2 poles against the wall with 2 more connecting them would be for roosting. The outhouse location is a mystery. Thank you for another delightful video.

Heyy Lesley, Bros of Decay, Wow, that was such a nice surprise to see you at last once again together with your lovely brother Jordy exploring that abandoned farmhouse somewhere in France! - So at last the Bros of Decay are for once complete! How wonderful! That was indeed a very special farmhouse, you were able to explore. Inside everything was really looking like a time capsule, - frozen in a certain moment in time! - Also the background story was kinda sad to listen, - heartbreaking! - I loved once more your beautifully and very poetically formulated introduction. - Wonderful drone shots too! - Jordys cameraskills are everytime so awesome to see. - This box in a cupboard with "Veloute poireaux" "pommes de terre"= meaning: "Soft, creamy leek and potatoe" was a soup with potatoe flakes, where you only have to add boiling water - and stir - and ready is the soup! - I really love your short conversations with Jordy, where he also is pointing out interesting details. You both are such a dream Urbex team!! The main living room and the bedrooms are still looking so warm and cozy. - Nowadays you usually don't receive the X-rays home, because they remain in the computer-systems of your house doctor, - at least how I myself experienced it. - The whole place with the grounds was so beautiful to see, somehow a very peaceful location. - Thank you, dear Bros of Decay, for taking us on tour through that place. - Stay safe, much love and blessings! - Take care and enjoy your wonderful trip with Maureno! - Peace and kindest regard.

Pomme de terre is potato. It may have been for soups or for mash potato that package. Outside toilet were common, with chamber pots for the night time which were cleaned in the morning, if not then you took the flashlight or candle or manoeuvre in the dark and went to the outside toilet. It became illegal in the late 1950ies/1960ies for any French old house not to have running water with a toilet and a bathroom in the house, fine or prison was available. Access to construction permit was made easier as a result for a decade or more. The stove in the farm house was on all year round, farmers and the staff worked hard, were up early, as soon as the first light of day arrived in the summer, winter they mostly worked with flash lights, candles, wire hanging around, with fancy torches tanging from beams, it was dangerous and tiring work which required a lot of energy, so the farmer started with break fast, mid morning he would come back in and have his coffee or tea or porridge, or even soup and bread. If staffed then everybody sat at the table. This all year round. I entered a Scottish farm as a nurse in 1992 to nurse a hear problem, and saw the same arrangements as in France. So stuff were left on the stove and you just helped yourself. There was always something available for visitors, any visitors wanted or surprised ones. The role of the mistress of the household was to make sure the children were looked after, the stove was cleaned and up running, she was the first up, and he had to wait till she was ready with stove and coffee, she made sure her husband and anyone working on the farm were looked after, fed and watered. They for most could do some level of first aid, until a doctor could arrive or an ambulance called in if that was necessary( I have seen so many severed fingers, people kicked by bull or horse, or accidents while cleaning the gun). When the man of the house came in worn out, and all dusty/dirty, if his wife had visitors she would have had to get out the way, that meant a little boudoir, a little room to herself, hence the table in the bedroom, farmers can be gruff at the best of time, but they washed at the kitchen sink like the miners in Scotland did stripped to the waist down or the portable bath tub came out and you have had a naked man in the kitchen- so everyone got out the way for a few hours. But they work so so hard, one can understand. The kitchen was the centre of the house, doors opened all year round to the weather, the woman would have been responsible for the smaller beats*- it seems they kept birds like chicken as one the out houses has a low ceiling, she milked the cows or goats, made the cheeses, butter or/and yoghurts, cream, tended the "potager" where all vegetables are grown, would have had to managed and staff harvest time, managed the huge party at the end of harvest, learn to fire a gun and shoot( rats mostly and could take part in the hunting season), clean the thing too. many a French farm have I worked into and well into the 1980ies there was no TV, too worn out to bother, we talked, did story telling, played music, did arts and crafts and there was always something to mend and off to bed for the day after. By 3 years old I had learnt to make cheese and butter, 4 to shoot using a catapult and sling shot, I was about 8 when I used a gun and shot anything as I was a very nervous girl around fire arms. 12 when I did a full first aid course and deal with fires, courses in my days were with the local fire station, who took themselves around the local schools, because farming was everywhere. regardless where you go in the world the farmers are amazing, really under appreciated, they feed the country regardless of who we are. *Animal care such as horses and cows would be shared.
