Lloyd, I have a 2014 Browning 725 Sporting, 32” barrel, adjustable stock. I bought it new. I’ve shot many guns over the years, and for the price this shotgun is outstanding. And mine is way better looking than the one your shooting. You get everything you need right in the box. I’ve shot everything from 3/4 oz-1-1/8 oz lead shot, speeds from 1145-1350 fps. Never had a hitch. I use it for Trap, Skeet and sporting clays. The guys at my club use to shoot just about everything but Browning, Ludic, Perazzi, Krieghoff, Beretta, Winchester, Remington’s, etc. After I started shooting again and showed off my new purchase, after awhile they all started buying the Browning’s. Even are top shooter that loves Beretta’s bought a Browning 725. VERY RELIABLE, EASY SHOOTING. Who gives you all those accessories, adjust-ability's in the box. Thanks for your reviews.

"Oh another Browning " ? Puzzled by this statement. No doubting their quality, as for the stock, years ago you took it to a gunsmith to get it altered. I've used many different makes and types and never had preconceptions, I noticed that probably 70% of the guns are now Browning at the shoots I attend. They're certainly drawing ahead of their competition on quality and price.

Thanks, another very informative review, I'm glad to see that you liked this one. Having some experience with the 725 Sporting in a High Rib Adjustable model, I'm deciding between the ProSport and the Blaser F16 for my next shotgun purchase, the main obstacle to the Blaser being the $1,000 price difference between the two. Happily, one of my local ranges has a Blaser F16 demo gun available, so I'll get a chance to shoot it before making the choice. My options are always constrained because I'm left-handed, and finding a left-handed shotgun on the shelf can be difficult: I expect to have to order and wait for the next one. Getting a new Citori 725 ProSport with a left-hand stock will be a challenge (I don't know if they exist...), while the left-hand stock is clearly available for order with the Blaser F16. Both the 725 ProSport and the Blaser F16 are similarly plain-looking, very much a "function over form" approach. Some of us like it, some don't: I'm in the former camp. Again, thanks, your reviews have offered some informed encouragement about the Blaser F16 and the ProSport 725. Well done!
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Ohland I think you get more bang for your buck with the pro sport, but getting a proper left handed F16 would be a big plus. They handle very very differently too. As I always advise, try both and buy the one you love.
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, what did you buy in the end?
@cohland
@cohland 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking back, Lloyd. Browning's new USA product lineup for 2018 lists no left-handed 725s, although I think I could probably have a left-handed stock (from replacement parts) fitted to a new 725, I'm inclined to get the Blaser F16. I tried one for fit, and it was fine, but I'll rent and shoot one before committing.
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 жыл бұрын
Chris Ohland I think the big difference is that Blaser and Krieghoff actually make properly Left handed guns. E.g the top lever, not just the cast of the stock.
@cohland
@cohland 6 жыл бұрын
Well, I had the opportunity to shoot a right-handed Blaser F16, and the results were "mixed". A 30" standard F16 slapped me around a bit. With short barrels, the wrong stock cast, no adjustable comb, and no extra weights it wasn't a great experience, although in spite of those factors I did hit fairly well with the gun. The dealer has ordered his new Blaser inventory, one of which will be a 32" left-hand F16 with adjustable comb and both sets of weights, which should feel better. I expect to be able to shoot this one within a few weeks, so I'll report back. In the meantime, I've learned that the Browning 725 Pro is not available in left-hand, so that door seems to be closed. I was kind of hoping for the Browning because I have ten aftermarket choke tubes, a mix of Briley and Müller, and if I get a new Blaser I'll need to order about six.

I given a choice between the two I would have the Pro Sport any day, but if you already have a Black edition you might not feel enough difference to warrant the expense. Lloyd Pattison. Thanks for your reply it is very much appreciated. Well I took the hit and exchanged the 725 black sport for the Pro Sport and firstly found the recoil more manageable. The adjustable combe advantageous and the barrel weights handy to balance the gun (Central on the hinge pin...interested to know what your view on that would be ?) The contents in the gun case I would presume are a given ? What i mean is the same components for each and every Pro Sp supplied with the gun from the Browning factory. Because I haven't the spare butt pad and the choke range are from 1/4, full to extra full. More like a trap set up. I've spoken to the gun supplier and they are happy to help. I just thought I'd run it by you also. Many thanks in advance. Best wishes Mick.

1127kat hey man, good stuff glad you like it. Balance is quite personal depending on your build and shooting style, what you might like I might hate and vice versa. Start neutral and go from there. As to what’s in the box it should be standard but sometimes bits get borrowed when a gun is in stock if you know what I mean. The dealer should replace any missing parts. Choke wise it’s been a while and I would need to check for you what the standard load out is.
@1127kat
@1127kat 6 жыл бұрын
Lloyd Pattison Quick reply.... nice. Yes personal preference is what I thought regarding the weights. Someone has mentioned that it's a good idea to weight the gun slightly forward of the hinge pin (help with muzzle flip) ? I've looked through the Browning Web sites to see if they had a spec list but haven't found any info and you confirmed my own thought with the supplier stock loan issue ☺ I've yet to pattern plate it but that's is on my list to do. Like you say it's a nice piece of kit.... so far so good. Let me know if you can find out the correct parts list. Many thanks again.
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 6 жыл бұрын
1127kat No don’t do that, set the gun up so it swings and feels right to you, muzzle flip is one of those things people talk about, and it sounds feasible, but is in fact utter rubbish. Go watch the high speed footage of me shooting the 828u, 6 lb gun, 32g cart and there is no “flip” the gun recoils straight back.

As a newbie with my eye on this gun due to its adjustability, how do you decide on barrel length? What difference does it make?
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 7 жыл бұрын
Cuzzazbuzz gun speed essentially. Longer barrels move slower (32") and are in vogue at the moment. 30" is a "normal" length. And 28" is very fast and light. You need to try them and feel the difference.
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 7 жыл бұрын
There isn't a convenient way to decide what will suit your shooting style without trying one unfortunately. Handle both 30 and 32 inch guns, better still shoot them on a variety of presentations and you should feel the difference in inertia and balance. There isn't a global preference as different guns balance and handle differently, however the general idea is that 32" guns tend to have slightly more inertia in the swing than 30" guns, e.g. take a little more effort to get moving and tend to want to stay in motion resulting in a smoother swing and less twitchyness.

@lloydyp
@lloydyp 3 жыл бұрын
Short answer: You cant buy points. If you have a gun that fits you, a more expensive gun that fits the same or worse isn't going to break more clays. However how much you enjoy the gun based on how nice it is to handle and look at are definitely enhanced.

MARTYN ISSITT oooff that’s a question Martin. I don’t think there is a vast gulf between them but if it were my money, I would look at a second hand invictus as a safer buy. Either gun bought new will lose 20% as soon as you pull the trigger. A second hand invictus will hold its value and is a hell of a lot of gun for the money. I haven’t tested the summit yet, but I would always say buy a well cared for second hand belter vs a new gun unless you specifically want a particular new gun.

I recently purchased a USA Browning Citori 725 “Pro” Sporting and I feel ripped off, with major buyers remorse!!! The only difference between the “Pro” and the regular adjustable 725 sporting is the lockable case, stock ONLY balancing weights, supposedly high grade 3-4 wood, and the laser engraving on the receiver, ( which is no where near as defined as the representation on Browning’s website.) Which are not worth the extra $400+ over the regular adjustable 725 sporting. 1st the lockable case is okay, but really it’s a large generic fit ( $150 at most ). 2nd my gun weighs 8lbs 2.5oz ( nice ) But it back heavy and balanced about and 1” behind the hinge. Adding more weight to the stock and not having the barrel balancing weights to counter will throw the balance off even more. 3rd the wood isn’t better than the regular adjustable versions I have seen. Also the wood has lots of pits and need to be filled with oil or something. 4th Like most things, the pictures of receiver on Browning’s website shows clear a defined definition of textures where mine, ( and the other 2 at the store ) have an almost completely silver receiver with light grey Letters of Pro on the side. No definition!!! Also the gun comes wrapped in plastic, Not nice socks. The accessories, spare chokes, and parts only comes a cardboard box, not a descent plastic case!!! My package didn’t even have the stock counter balances. Definitely not worth $3500 or the extra $750 over the regular adjustable stock version. I wish we could get the EU version of the ProSport in the US. It seems like a better package than what we’re getting. Here Browning doesn’t even know about barrel weights or what the specs are for most version being made!!! Disappointed!!!

Thats a shame, but I cant really comment on the US Citori guns as I have never even seen one.

Ali Alzaabi my wedding ring is Palladium, the barrel is steel. Even mild steel is harder than Palladium and just like using a bronze brush cannot harm the barrels.
