The Browning Pro Sport 725 gets a table top treatment!
What a gun! Browning have taken a step back to their competition gun roots with the Pro Sport, everything about this gun is 100% clay smashing machine.
This is a gun that inspires confidence, looks great and has a real classic browning feel.

I have this gun. Can confirm it's a fantastic gun. I like the plain look, and you get the feeling you've spent your money on a truly well engineered and manufactured gun rather than on something pretty. I prefer the textured trigger as it feels more tactile and positive on the trigger pulls. I switched from the orange/red bead to the yellow one as it pops more. You get about 6 different beeds - 3 different colours and 2 sizes for each. I prefer the heavier guns and I traded in a Browning GTS for this gun and got a really good deal on a nearly new gun. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks Jonny, for this (again) amazing video. I was going for the B525 Laminated, but I came home with the B725 PRO TRAP ... AND ... I don't regret it for one moment ... I simply LOVE the gun ... It’s become an extension of my arms and shoulders ... It’s comfortable … It handles well … It’s very stable …It radiates quality ... Its SUUUUPER !!!

I've had a b725 s1 with 30 inch barrels since it came out. Tried out the protrap high rib last summer an immediatly fell in love with it. Got the protrap high rib witht 32 inch barrels this summer. Just an amazing gun, it handles so well, No muzzle jump, so little recoil. It wieghs a good 600 grams more than my old s1, but it balances so beautifully that I don't feel the extra weight other than it makes the gun feel much more planted and stable. I shoot sporting and compak sporting, and the protrap performs just awesome. Browning really has done things right with the pro series. A friend of mine swapped his F3 supersport out for a protrap highrib. The Blaser didn't feel right after shooting the Browning he said.

Had this gun (30") for over a year now and generally agree with review. I had convinced myself to buying a 692 but after an unscheduled visit to a Browning dealer all my hours of research went out the window. This gun feels fantastic in the hand (big palm swell and a good size fore end) and the movement is precise and steady, this is probably more down to its weight. Great tip on rounding the pad as it can sometimes get hung up on the vest when mounting. Bad point, the blacking does rub off slightly around the fore-end lever and the edges of the trigger guard. However I would not hesitate in recommending this gun.

Thanks for the review Johnny. While not about the shotgun reviewed, I remember you, at least I think it was you, mentioning in another video about how you hold the forearm with your thumb and index finger on same side. I recently tried this, and it does feel better. Thanks for the tip. Hope you all have a great day.
@timeverett7828

Dan try this... try holding your index finger under The forearm and pointed straight towards the end of the barrel. This naturally makes swing and follow through instinctive as your hands naturally go to where you're looking. You will also find that you're much less tired at the end of the day of shooting. People make the mistake of over gripping the forend and you don't have to. Just merely rest the forend in your leading hand and that's all that's required.

@@timeverett7828 Thanks for the tip Tim. I've been doing pretty similar to what you've described. Johnny has his index finger clear up on the side of the forearm very close to his thumb. Thank you for a good review,.Tried one today at the local dealer. After 35 years of hunting and shooting clays with an old s-b-s Husqvarna 310 from early 1920´s I was quite excited and curious.However, the Pro Sport fitted perfectly without any adjustments, pattern was good and ended up where I pointed the gun. Does not feel heavy despite the 3,9kg. Just have to get used to over-and-under instead of side-by-side.

I actually think you get a lot of gun for the money with the ProSport. It will serve well right of the shelf. Yes You will need to look at the Invictus and the 692 Sporting and perhaps a few others before buying, but thats more down to personal preference. Nice gun. (And well presented!)

Had one and sold it... which was probably one of the worst mistakes I've made. It is a fantastic gun, an out and out clay cruncher... I am personally not 100% convinced with the standard chokes but aftermarket Trulock chokes transform it's performance to the extreme... I'm going to my local gun dealers tomorrow to purchase another one, bear in mind that I sold my old prosport to buy a Blaser F3!..

I have the American version “Pro” Sporting and it’s a little better looking, but you get less accessories, regular 725 adjustable stock and schnabel for-end, no gun socks, no barrel weights ( rear stock weights only ) and a $150 Negrini case. The gun handles and shoots well, but it not worth $3500. If you want a Browning, get the regular 725 sporting adjustable comb, buy whatever extra chokes you like, buy a case, and still save $500. If I could do it over again I should have bought a CG Summit, Fabarm Elos N2, or Beretta 692. To be honest the Fabarm is a steal, it comes in a nicer Negrini case, has a better warranty, customer service, and shot better for me with less perceived recoil. But I listened to all of the “Old” guys that a Browning is the way to go for my first sporting clays gun. I’m going to use it for a while, but it will be just that, my first gun until I can step Up to something nicer!

Hi there. I am "happy" owner of one those Pro Trap Brownings. Nice gun, but sadly the famous Browning realibity is gone. At first there was a problem on second shot, the gun jammed or the shot left the barrel after a while, on its own time, the trigger was pulled earlier of course. Send it back to dealer, it came back and worked fine, some fine tuning was made to the gun. I believe carvin more space for the trigger parts. The second problem was a minor, firing pin was bad, so i replaced it on my own, all is fine? Not so; now sometimes after the first shot the trigger is dead, no responce at all, flicking the safety back and forth does the trick, well on trap range its all over, or malfunction mark on the card. This symptom reguires guns fast sideways movement, which is typical on trapshooting. I opened it up, and lord behold, if You move the inertia block back and right and pull the trigger, the shifter dont move to the other sear, instead the mechanism is jammed and the trigger has no responce at all. The inertia block has too much sideways movevent and this makes problem possible. Again flick the safety and this corrects the parts positions to normal. I have have had GTI:s and XT:s, even Liege when i was a bit younger, and i have never had problems like these in Brownings, ever... It is nice gun, it is nice to shoot, trigger is fine, but i am bit annoyed to rebuild again gun which costs guite a lot. I hope that Browning is trying to get the realibility back on these otherwise fine guns.

Well I have had this gun now for about a month, it is giving me trouble, I shoot it, it fires both barrels normally, but then you cannot open it fully, you have to close it then open it again, sometimes three or four times before it opens far enough to remove the shot cases, the frequency of this is getting worse, maybe 6 times in 35 shots, I am not terribly happy. It is going back to Browning in Portugal.

Browning's finest clay gun? Here's the issue I have and would appreciate your thoughts on the matter please Jonny. I shoot DTL and for the past six years have owned and shot exceptionally well with my Browning Ultra XTR. It's a great gun, no doubt at all. But I have itchy fingers and am thinking of changing it. The only option I feel is suitable is the Ultra XS Pro and that's where my thinking is right now. But then you come along and say this is the best clay gun. What should I do? Of course I could keep my XTR which is still lovely and worth more than I paid for it. What say you?

The Sporter 2 is much better than the first attempt. Imagine it like a diet pro sport. If you look at it logically - there is no way it’s worth an extra £1000, but if the money is there to spend, there is no doubt it is a better gun, it’s certainly seemed to have more depth and soul than the sporter 2. Sounds Silly doesn’t it.

@tgsoutdoors
@tgsoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Difficult question! It depends on what level you want to shoot at and what targets you want to shoot at. The Sporter2 is probably the better gun for club level clays, it’s lighter and more more forgiving of being thrown around. We he Pro Sport demands being controlled, but will require a more serious mind set both in training and competition to get the most out of it. The ability to change the weights and balances of the prosport is a nice feature for the future, as you can set the gun up for the progression of your shooting style and discipline choice. This can be done with the Sporter2 but will be a gunsmiths job not a at home one.

Jonny, I tried both the sporter and the pro sport today. I was genuinely shocked with the difference between them, they feel and shoot worlds apart... Did not get on with the sporter at all, felt a bit brutish and erratic. The pro sport felt really controllable with the extra weight and slightly beefier wood work. In my personal opinion a much more pointable gun. I find it surprising how two guns that I guess on a spec sheet are pretty similar are just so different.

Probably showing my naivety here.... but why only chamber for 2 3/4" ? Ok... you only need 2 3/4 for clays, but would 3 have hurt, especially as 3 would let you load up a little heavier if needed. I love Browning, I shoot one... but I wouldn't restrict myself to a short chamber. Then again, I suppose if I was a little richer I wouldn't be arsed as I'd just spend another 3.5k on a second gun 😁. Lol... just answered my own question I think 🙄. God vid as always. Oi, posh lad... you lot going to the Northern Shooting Show this May... or is that a bit 'chips and bitter' for your southern neshness?

I thinjk the purpose is two fold - First, it is making a statement as a clay gun, and only a clay gun. Secondly there is a gimicky amount of ballistic difference! Currently no serious plans for the Northern Shooting Show, but plans can change.

@@tgsoutdoors Bloody nice gun either way. It's a long treck to the show for you fellas... and in all fairness, it's far less of a 'showcase' event; as much a game fair as anything else. Enjoy the weekend.

Cannot get them in the US... We can only get the pro's with ported barrels which is a useless Mod.... The 725's eat firing pins - replacement is the norm for the guys who shoot them here in my club after 8000 rounds or so.. The norm is 13k on the low end and 17k a year for the normal club shooter here... I shoot 18k a year of 12 ga. through my Cesar Guerini with no issues and only 5500 in my 20 ga. Guerini .... It's a real shame we can't get this model here in the US I would buy one for my grand son.....

From mid 2019 to mid 2022, this gun has risen 20% in price. He said 2500 quid or dollars since it is close. Not a good time to be buying a new sport shotgun.

692 or this?

Try them both. I have the American version “Pro” Sporting and it’s better looking, but you get less accessories, regular 725 adjustable stock and schnabel for-end, no gun socks, no barrel weights ( rear stock weights only ) and a $150 Negrini case. The gun handles and shoots well, but it not worth $3500. If you want a Browning get the regular 725 sporting adjustable comb, buy whatever extra chokes you like, buy a case, and still save $500. If I could do it over again I should have bought a CG Summit, Fabarm Elos N2, or Beretta 692. To be honest the Fabarm is a steal, it comes in a nicer Negrini case, has a better warranty, customer service, and shot better with less perceived recoil.

In the US Browning has earned a reputation for having the worst customer service in the firearms industry. Rude employees, excuses to deny warranty claims, and very long wait times for repair work. All this with growing problems with the 725 regarding stocks cracking at the head and failures of the top barrel to fire. American shooters with increasing experience have moved away from Browning to European guns. Better service and more developed.

I guess it's a fantastic clay smashing tool rather than anything else, it dosen't seem versatile. It's not a very pretty gun either plain and boring, the black and gold doesn't do anything for me.

Its all fancy and nice but basicly its just the same over under gun as always just a bit more stock angle and a lighter trigger and and and but its nothing new.......Sadly no new gun design come out that are revolutionairy cause this over and under gun i have seen about 200x now.... I wish a person like John Browing would live now and make some new guns,if u compare his guns like the pump action shotguns or the lever guns or the pistols he made or the machines guns are soo unique and diffent from eachother if u compare them,but these over and under guns...are nothing new,just darker wood diffent trigger and and and but nothing really new..

Great review. Not worth the money! These guns are machine made not hand made. They are pumped out on an assembly line like cars are today. Realistic price based on hourly wage is closer to $1000.00 then $3500.00. Do a show on which is the fairest priced sporter / field gun. The cheaper $800.00 to a $1200.00 gun? I think we get more value with cheaper guns. It will not last as long, so what buy another equivalent priced shotgun. Sick of getting ripped off. Thanks

I'm sure it's a solid gun but the wood-to-metal fit doesn't look good on video. Perhaps it's better in the flesh. Guess one gets monoblock barrels these days even at higher price points. Don't like the gold. Otherwise.....
