Lyrics:
Well, I came to your house the other day
Your mother said you went away
She said there was nothing that I could have done
There was nothing nobody could say
Me and you, we've known each other ever since we were sixteen
I wished I could have known
I wished I could have called you
Just to say goodbye, Bobby Jean
Now, you hung with me when all the others
Turned away, turned up their nose
We liked the same music, we liked the same bands
We liked the same clothes
We told each other that we were the wildest
The wildest things we'd ever seen
Now I wished you would have told me
I wished I could have talked to you
Just to say goodbye, Bobby Jean
Now, we went walking in the rain,
Talking about the pain that from the world we hid
Now there ain't nobody, nowhere, nohow
Gonna ever understand me the way you did
Maybe you'll be out there on that road somewhere
In some bus or train traveling along
In some motel room there'll be a radio playing
And you'll hear me sing this song
Well, if you do, you'll know I'm thinking of you
And all the miles in between
And I'm just calling you one last time
Not to change your mind, but just to say I miss you, baby
Good luck, goodbye, Bobby Jean

As this song came on tears began to whale up in my eyes and roll down my cheeks. Just a week ago I learned my once closest and dearest friend, the mother of my son and once my wife had taken her own life. Finally today I cry..I love you Karen and always will.

35 years ago this album came out. The year I got my driver's license . The year of my first car. The year of my first love. The year of my first Bruce concert. Needless to say Bruce is the only one still in my life. Lol. Every now and then I'll throw this CD in the player while washing the car in the driveway. Open a cold beer and just listen as the years melt away.

I was eight years old when my father bought the album 'Born in the USA' back in '84. It has this song on it. I remember it resonated deeply with me, i.e. with my ability to feel, for I didn't speak English back then. (I'm from The Netherlands). When I got older I learnt the language, and so I learnt the lyrics of this and many other Springsteen songs. I could now more and more understand what he was singing. And also through life experience of my own. But the truth is, I could grasp the meaning of many of his songs as a child. For the match is perfect. Springsteen has a gift for giving an emotional charge to music, that captures very well the essence of what he sings about.

My wife has given me so many wonderful gifts, but the only one better than her love was tickets to this concert. My first Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert. It only took 30 years to get there an a whole lotta love. Now I'm the one getting the tickets and taking her to Hyde Park next July for the experience of a lifetime. Besides falling in love and being loved, the next best thing is a Bruce Springsteen concert.

Possibly Bruce's most underrated song. About Steve's departure from the band in 1982. Although it could also be about an old high school sweetheart you had. Music can have multiple meanings. This song is regularly played at Springsteen shows and he cites it as a favorite in his book "Songs."

Jake! Jake! Jake! How many times did i have to call you? That, was one momentous moment. For those that might not fully understand this; the ability to uphold breathe that much and yet maintaining the rhythm of the song is just staggering! Only a band player can know this. I’ve never seen Bruce but have “grown up” with him for the last 50 years . I wanted to try to see them in Nov. of ‘23 but Bruce became ill and had to cancel those shows , so I didn’t try to get tickets . By sheer coincidence , my daughter and her husband got 2 sets , only needed one , and I bought the other tickets from them . He is supposed to come back in Aug. ‘24 and I’m waiting anxiously ! I’ve seen most of the truly great rock and roll bands that I wanted to but never got to see Bruce . I hope we both make it till then ! It’ll be wild , the wildest thing I’ve ever seen ! Good luck , good bye !

Ascolto quest'Album (Born in the USA) dal lontano 1985 ed oggi nel 2022 sono ancora qui a deliziarmi le orecchie con queste splendide canzoni. I've been listening to this album (Born in the USA) since 1985 and today in 2022 I'm still here to delight my ears with these wonderful songs. From Italy with love
