I think Fury is aware of his athletic decline, that's why he doesn't really want to fight Usyk, because Usyk will expose his weaknesses (such as poor coordination) and people will have to re-evaluate Fury's entire career if he loses. His reputation is on the line here. Eventhough I agree with you Bruce that Fury should not be counted out and doubters motivate him, I think Fury's body has taken too much damage (from drugs, alcohol, weight fluctuations) for him to feel confident enough to beat Usyk. And that makes it hard for him to get up for this fight.

People need to really need to dissect Fury's career. His 2 best performances were Klitschko and Wilder 2 all other performances outside of those haven't been all that great. The Klitschko fight was in the record books for the least punches thrown in a HW Title fight. Which was followed by a ban for PED use. Wilder rematch was just a cherry pick gone right for Fury and wrong for Wilder. Who has Wilder ever beaten to be considered a top champion? Those Wilder fights were entertaining but not an example of the highest skills and IQ since Wilder is a one trick pony. Fury has been exposed for being a good fighter but not a great fighter imo. I still think he will step up his game vs Usyk as he performs well as an underdog.

Losing weight will be a disadvantage for fury he didn't have great power before the weight loss now it will be even softer and his chin won't be as good and with USYK peppering him from all angles I can see USYK ko fury late on USYK gers better the longer the fight goes on and he seems to hit harder into 9 onwards.

The comments are a bit polarising (or bi-polar, take your pick). Fury is a genius when on form. But he’s not an athlete and lacks something many other fighters do have. Whether it’s an inflicted or environmental factor associated to his heritage and lifestyle, it’s created addictive type problems in his career - we don’t need labels. But he also has the cards on his side. And when he’s on form, his best is sadly better than anyone else’s best with the exception of USYK, but he has the physical advantages to bring that too a boring yet predictable conclusion. I’m the biggest AJ fan, and believe he has the tools to dismantle Fury but only if a) he shows us something we’ve never seen be it new skills (unlikely) or an extra couple of levels in his destructive performance couple with stamina to match Luke’s elusiveness. Or b) Fury isn’t at his best. We shouldn’t criticise any of these gladiators for their pros and cons - are we not entertained (making money from KZfaq channels & social media comments)
