This third, “prototype” video follows the “unboxing & ideas” as well as the short “teaser” first running video that I posted a few days ago. Since the teaser, I’ve tweaked a few things - moved the controls around on the transmitter to make the driving smoother and have increased the throw on the steering a little as well as split the rear axles to give better turning & reversing.
At the moment only the front wheels are driven, the other two axles could have motors, but this would be covered in an ‘upgrade’ video at some point in the future. For my purposes front wheel drive is fine for now.
It does really need 1:100 gearboxes rather than 1:200 which are currently installed, but these are currently in transit from China, so I’ll have to wait to see the effect. For those dying to crack open the front end I’ve included a segment on doing that as well as a fairly thorough run through of how this build works. This is deliberately intended to be a ‘budget’ build, using inexpensive components and simple techniques (tools required - drill, standard files (flat, round, rat tail), mini drill (eg Dremel - ideally with drive flex, with carbon cutting disk & router bit, range of flat and cross head screw drivers, small allen keys (or hex drivers), Stanley (box cutter) knife, super glue (cyano) with accelerator, soldering iron & solder, long nose pliers & wire cutters).
