So as a counterpoint to some of the other posts, I absolutely adore this game even though it was not a game I really had much on my radar until I received it as a gift. The several main selling points are that 1) it being on the lighter side I can play it with anyone who has even a slight interest in boardgames heavier than monopoly 2) the cards you get being somewhat random makes the game much more tactical than strategic and prevent the creation of "dominant strategies" but still give you enough choice that your hand does not dictate your tactics 3) I disagree that there is no meaningful interaction between the players as several cards can be used to negatively impact your opponents and the majority markers and canal statue points all depend on what the other players are doing 4) there is not too much direct conflict between the players so that it does not devolve into a "take that" game and executing your strategy is usually still more important than disrupting others (though my fiance did win one time just going all in on the people that can give other people threats) and 5) the fact that every card can be played either for resources or as its unique person (there is only one of each card) means that every choice both means dedicating to a particular path and foreclosing another.

Amazing game, I love all the clever engine-building opportunities and the artwork is great!

Bruges is kind of difficult to explain. I'm not a big fan of it, but I dont mind it, and enjoy it. I like the random element.

Not really a comment on the game.. I love your reviews, you have introduced me to a lot of great games I may not have picked up otherwise, or helped me avoid ones I am fairly certain my group wouldn't like. And I love every part of how the videos are produced, except.. why do you always show the setup inverted? Surely there must be a way to show the game setup and sample play from Kaja and Joanna's point of view. I know at the table, half the players are looking at the board upside down anyway. but with the straight up bird's eye view, I always find it distracting. Anyway, keep up the great work. :)

Hello everyone! I recently got this game 2nd hand (Hans im Glück, German edition). My question is how many henchmen are there in the game? The original game rules say 60, many online versions are saying the same, but the rule from Hans im Glück website is showing 50 and I also have 50. Can you please advise which one is correct? I think I have a misprint version (as the game is in a wonderful condition and not even a single canal piece is missing). Thanks a lot for your kind feedback in advance.

Are you playing the games you are reviewing? This game has a lot of interaction: underworld cards and race for reputation. The level of interaction is just OK for euro genre

Would be smarter the have the top view not in a reverse way... why don't you just turn your camera around so we can face the board rather than seeing everything the reverse way???

I traded Bruges away after a couple of plays. Major knocks against it are: 1) no meaningful interaction between players. 2) There unfun randomness. The cards want you to build combinations but getting an engine is based on chance only. In the game's defense, it does play relatively quickly. I disagree with the reviewers here. If you like eurogames, there are much better options out there, some of which have a theme that doesn't feel pasted on at all. I would suggest a designer like Rüdiger Dorn.
