Chris Spedding is so good! The lead in 'shame, shame, shame' is essentially one note that he makes so much of.

Chris Spedding. That is all. Sorry, once again - Chris Spedding. He didn't play fast. He didn't play flash. He was not a 'big' personality, so he didn't get press. He is, for my money, one of the most criminally unsung guitarists of the last fifty years. ALways playing simply, supporting the singer, the song. And when it was time for him to solo, no noodling, no bullshit - big, glorious whole notes centered around the main theme, with masterful tone and control that came straight from his fingers to you. All Hail.

Yup. Gotta agree with you on Chris Spedding. Reminds me a good bit of Earl Slick. His performance at the 2001 Apollo Concert on "Only Love" brought tears to my eyes.

Chris was a KISS player - "Keep It Simple Stupid" . He dished up loads of tone and loads of feeling and that's how he got the gig for 'This Is Tomorrow Calling" and subsequent tour....nice to see Phil backing up on 2nd chair though. You can hear how there was a cross influence at that time between Chris and Steve Jones of Pistols fame. They became good mates. Kings of the power cord.

What a line up - Phil Manzanara, Paul Thompson, Chris Spedding, John Wetton, Mel Collins!!! And the record the tour was supporting - "In Your Mind" - is one of the GREAT pop/rock records of the era - hooks, solos, great songs, great musicians - "Love Me Madly Again" is a real tour de force - Ferry's BEST solo record. Funny - in this performance, Ferry turned on the "Chinese eyes" thing. Thanks for posting this.

Oh my god this is soooo goooood. Watching for the very first time [9/7/2021] - Long time Roxy Music & Bryan Ferry fan however never knew this existed. I have read as many comments here as I can and understand the master Chris Speeding is axing. And I couldn't agree more with all comments about his so under rated axe skills. And all other musicians here are at the top of their form as well. Thank you uploader O.P.D. this is so greatly appreciated. Best wishes from New Zealand.

11 June 1977 Winterland, San Francisco, CA: Bryan Ferry, Mother's Finest, The Nuns. I was there, and it was videotaped, as so many Winterland shows were. Wonder where those tapes are now? I took a few snapshots with my cheap little camera, they didn't come out half bad. Looking forward to scanning them and at least posting them on f-bk. TTFN!

Though he made the song named 'Tokyo Joe' in 70's, that was the very Chinese music. One of the Wings members', Denny Laine's 'Japanese tears' was also based on Chinese music. I'm Japanese. I was living in U.K in early 90's when I was a little boy and was also living there from 2011 to 2014. Then I was always feeling that European people didn't know Japan. They couldn't distinguish Japan from China. Just French and Spanish people know Japan slightly better than the other European people. Because Japanese contemporary cultures such as clothing brand( Yoji Yamamoto, Issei Miyake and so on), animation, movies are accepted there.
