Jordan said..”anybody can score 25 points in a game. The thing is to score 25 points every night, and be consistent”..yeah anybody can have a good game but doing it over and over again is what separate the great players from average players.

Luke, very well said! The NBA is a league of professionals! They do have skills and work to be at their best when competing. So on rare occasions anyone's going to be tested; that's a given through all facets of life! But what was the end result? LeBradford, you dropped 37 on me in a game. I come back the following night and drop 40 on you by halftime!😉👍 Who got the last laugh? And when they met again and again and again, had anyone ever heard LeBradford's name again? Case Closed.....

Why because like u people said Jordan like every other scoring champ played individual ball The Pistons doubled down on that came up with the Jordan rules which taught Jordan u need to maximize his teammates Results was chip, chip chip, 72-10 proving he really was out of game shape and his timing just wasn't right after a mere 17 games b4 the playoffs And oh yea chip, chip chip Did u read my comments junior I already covered this. With all due respect, the craziest parts of this story are missing. 1) MJ made up a story about how Smith was mocking him after the game. "Following the game, Jordan claimed that Smith mocked him by saying, "Nice game, Mike...[...] Jordan admitted years later that Smith never made the "nice game" comment. He made it all up. He apparently just needed more motivation to get Smith back for embarrassing him." 2.) Jordan promised to match Smith's 37 the next night....BY HALFTIME!! He came short by one point because he (unbelievably) missed one free throw that would have given him the 37 at halftime. "In the second game, this time at the Bullets' Capital Centre, Jordan almost followed through on his promise as he scored 36 points by halftime. He would finish with 47 and his Bulls cruised to a 126-101 victory." I think it's crazy how effortless he made it look while going after that goal.

...Everyone understands that there were several players over Jordan's career that had good games against Jordan right? Penny Hardaway once scored 38 on the Bulls, Grant Hill had like 34 points on a triple-double, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf had like 38, Rex Chapman (with the Suns) had like 39, Jamal Mashburn had 50 (and yes I'm aware they didn't play the same position) This is no to diminish what Jordan was defensively, in my estimation (at his position) the greatest defensive player to ever live. But he was human as were the Bulls. There were just nights were a guy had there number. Which usually still ended up as a loss to the Bulls.

I remember LaBradford Smith especially when I had him as one of my players on NBA Showdown '94 on SNES. I got to take the Boston Celtics to the championship with a 73-9 W-L record.

Larry Johnson grandmama gave Jordan the work one game in his rookie or 2nd season i think. I was young watching that game and i remember thinking to myself that was the first time i saw any player outplay Jordan.

Than Jordan dropped 52/9/6&4 on him in '93 we see a player now that calls himself the GREATEST of All-time so afraid of getting lit up that this Mufuaka has decided to not even play defense anymore. At least Jordan took the challenges against the best player's year in an year out an was also the best defensive player at His position his entire career. That BUM in L.A. will never be able to claim that honor.

I was at that return game in Washington (well, Landover, Maryland technically) as a huge Bullets/basketball fan. I had seen a couple other great Jordan games in person before that, but that one was truly special. Hilarious in retrospect that Jordan completely fabricated a quote from Smith after the first game of "nice game, Mike," and used it for motivation the next night, but that's how Jordan operated. "Whatever he had tonight, I'll get in the first half tomorrow."

This is no surprise so many NBA superstars get they ass lit up a lot. I remember Pippen use to get lit up by player's all the time, LeBron constantly get scored on by player's so did Kobe, Wade, Vince Carter, T-Mac even Kawhi get lit up from time to time. I mean their in the NBA for a reason so on any given night you can get da business. So Kudos to LaBradford Smith for making his presence felt when he faced The G.O.A.T.
