In the Dionysus performance, each member represented a Greek god: V - Apollo, God of the Sun Jin - Ares, God of War ( or Athena, God of Wisdom) Jimin - Artemis, God of the Moon Suga - Hephaestus, God of Fire JK - Poseidon, God of Sea J-Hope - Zeus, God of Thunder RM - Dionysus, God of Wine And the lights that come down before each solo performance make a star constellation, the Corona Borealis, seven stars (for 7 BTS members) that make up the distinctive crown-shaped pattern. In Greek mythology, Corona Borealis was linked to the legend of Theseus and the minotaur. It was generally considered to represent a crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne, the daughter of Minos of Crete, after she had been abandoned by the Athenian prince Theseus. When she wore the crown at her marriage to Dionysus, he placed it in the heavens to commemorate their wedding.

I had no idea about the crown or the Corona. When I see 7 "stars" I always think Pleiades instead. Obviously my mythology is very rusty! Thanks for sharing!

Haha all of the MMA and MAMA award shows are RIDICULOUS. This is why fans get touchy when they are compared to Backstreet Boys 🤣 not that Backstreet boys were bad but they go above and beyond to put on a good show for their fans.

It was a flipping major epic Theatre production. I doubt any award show could and would even dare to try to top that performance.

BTS are beasts when they perform, nobody can top that!! And all the choreo 🤯🤯💜💜 remember this was just an awards show. 2016 till 2021 all MMA and MAMA award performances are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

And to think this is just a performance for an award show is crazy. I remember watching this live and my jaw was probably dropped the whole time. After it was over I was like what the heck just happened, those 37 minutes flew by and I was never bored. They all did so well. I've probably watched over 50 reactions to this performance and I still consider it one of the best award show performances of all time by anyone.

That’s insane, how could an artist sing and dance for 37 minutes and it was perfect performance with no mistakes and yea bts are the best performers you had ever seen 🔥bro they burn the stage and just make all fandoms scream and enjoy the perf 😩🌎✨

I always enjoy rewatching this award show with reactors. First to see their reaction, but end up paying full attention to these 7 men only 🤣. They always put quality first

It should also be noted that at the awards ceremony, BTS won all 4 of the major awards, known as Daesangs (artist of the year, album, song, record) as well as 3 other awards as a group and Suga got an award as a producer for another artist. Pdogg (Big Hit/Hybe) also won songwriter of the year. So the BTS stable took 9 awards that night . Oh , and TXT who are also BigHit got New Artist of the Year. They had more than enough exercise with all the getting up and sitting down to receive the awards , let alone that performance.

The Asian award shows love to bring in the fans on a large scale which makes the atmosphere so much better. Not just a few elites who can afford it or who have connections in the mosh pit at the front like on western award shows. And you can SEE the months of rehearsal that went into this. Once you go Korean you never go back!💜

Apologies if this was mentioned below but: I love in their finale with Dionysus how a malfunction happened in the beginning when they were seated at the table and Jimin had no chair. He was literally supporting himself by his elbows and looking cool as a cucumber. Army only found this out afterwards. No wonder they are the NUMBER ONE band in the world!!!

Mikrokosmos is sort of a love song :) It is written for the fans, it's about the love BTS has for their fans, who they consider their brightest stars who are always by their side. You need to read the song's full English translation because it will give you the feels.

We often tell people that BTS is over the top extra. They spent millions themselves on all the hundreds of extras, costumes, stage etc just for an awards show. I’m sure they pitched it as “sure we will just do 5 songs….” But they put on the most epic live performances I’ve ever seen. This was a chance for them to show their peers and the industry what absolute kings they are like they live to flex how good they are. Plus classic BTs it’s packed with meaning and messages about Greek gods. Congrats you survived watching 2019 MMA a true event!

I would love to have been in on the planning meetings for this. It must have had an enormous to do list. We need a water bath - check, we need horses- check, 50? Support dancers - check, boxes on wheels - check, a thyrsus (a what? Why not? No problem) -check, a long length of white fabric - check, a rose - check, and on and on. And who’s paying for this? We are. Finance director runs screaming from the building

Pretty astonishing stuff, especially considering the fan reaction when this wasn't even their concert. The free-fall switch from the table is one of my favorite bits.

It's the little details as well - The last song is called Dionysus (the God of wine) and the lights that came down after each individual performance formed the shape of the constellation Corona Borealis which is considered to represent a crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne, the daughter of Minos of Crete. Corona Borealis translates to “the northern crown” - When Ariadne wore this crown at her marriage to Dionysus, he placed it in the heavens to commemorate their wedding.💜💜💜

The Bookish theories explanation of Dionysus will absolutely blow your mind. The lyricism combined with the performance tells the most amazing story! This MMA performance is slightly different to the original performance (added dance break) and it tells a little story in itself. I think I saw someone explain it in the comments!

With each of their performances you get accustomed to experiencing the unexpected. This is one of my all time favourite stages!!! No one does it like BTS!

I was still new to BTS when I saw this. I did not even consider myself an ARMY at that time but I was absolutely blown away by them in this performance.

The songs they used for their solo stage or performances are a remix of their older songs. in case you might be interested to react to those as well here is the lineup: 1. V = No More Dream 2. Jin = Danger 3. Jimin = I Need You (Suga plays the piano solo for this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gN94lLV0ssjcZnU.html) 4. Suga = Fire 5. Jungkook = Save Me (the MV for this was done in one continuous take, it's really cool!) 6. Jhope = Fake Love 7. RM = Intro of Dionysus (which they performed as the finale here)

This was a tour de force. Such amazing stages showcasing them as a group and individually culminating in the incredible Dionysus. Jin’s sheer joy as he throws that rose in Boy with Love and coming in on the ‘horse’ would be the highlight for me if Jimin hadn’t followed him doing the scarf dance. This is a pure delight.

I have watched this MMA 2019 BTS performance maybe more 10 times and I am still in awe. Maybe The Grammy's should let the Asians produce their award shows cause they know how to.

This is my favourite award show, BTS are incredible as always but I loved each intro dance that they did. That was sweet.

It took several months of planning and preparation to pull this off. BTS are all insanely talented, but also extremely hard working. I'm so glad you are including them in your reactions. I'm in the U.S. and I've said this before, but this is the Most Epic Performance I have EVER seen, and I'm 65 now. (so, NOW, you are not "old"!!!). I see that others have filled you in on the various Greek Gods they represented in the solos, as well as the BTS songs they were each performing to, before the finale. I didn't feel tired after, I felt in awe and energized. :-) I am super glad they got to perform this before the C-pandemic hit!!! 2018 is also fabulous, and 2020 is as well (but no live audience and missing Suga who was recovering from shoulder surgery).

LOL about getting old....me too, so forgive me if I've already said this, but that first performance by RM, 'Persona' is the introduction, if you will, for all the songs that follow in the Map of the Soul series. I highly recommend watching the official mv for it followed by the explanation on DKDKTV channel (if you haven't already). There they explain 'Persona' as it relates to Carl Jung's theory of the conflicts of self discovery which are portrayed in many of the songs through the use of black/white, shadows, ego, "who am I?", self-development, life choices, and questioning of self. Once you've watched RM's song and the explanation, you will 'see' all of the representations of the theory in the other songs as well. Borahae, ARMY grandma

Thank you for checking this out. Pls check out MMA 2018..that was an epic performance also. And their performance at the MAMA 2017 will make your jaw drop. Grammys need to see BTS's performance at award shows so they can understand the calibre of this men 😊.

BTS are on top for a reason! People tend to overlook their talent and hard work, they see them as an overhyped bubblegum pop band. This is the side they don't see. NO ONE can do it like them!

I looove your big screen. This is an entire concert! They are amazing! Their solo performances were absolutely astonishing. No western artist have done anything like this. I´ve gone to so many concerts and no one can put on a show like this. The 2018 BTS MMA´s performance is also amazing.

Hi Stacey! :) So there were some pre-recorded sections, some of the solo performances and Mikrokosmos was pre-recorded, the sequence was done one after the other though.
