I'm not exaggerating I've probably watched over 50 reactions to this performance and it never gets old. Keep in mind this is not a BTS concert, it's an award show where many other artists also performed and I'm pretty sure it's free to attend. BTS also won in all the major categories that night too. Luckily BTS performed last so no one had to follow that performance. The MMA's are the Melon Music Awards which is like the Korean equivalent of the US's Billboard Music Awards. The MMA's and MAMA's have ruined western award shows for me, I no longer watch them unless BTS is there. Some of the performance was pre-recorded so not everything was done live. Somewhere there is a video of the making of this. It’s shows a bit of the lighting techs sorting out how RM will make the star in Mikrokosmos. The word, ‘epic’, is often bandied about but this truly was EPIC. When you think of how they struggled just to get a slot on a show in 2013 then here they are playing a 45 min slot on an award show where they also cleaned up all the awards they were nominated for. They really are special.

Yep and this is the group that can't get a Grammy...so much for the Grammys .. I know after seeing this I never was able to not feel cheated watching most other performances. Except for Pinks Glitter in the Air. Singing in the air upside down deserves praise & remembrance. BTS just raises the bar and even solo. Folks thought they'd get a break from BTS... bless their hearts when Hobipalooza happened.

They Opened the 2019 the Love yourself Concert with Dionysus and then followed it up with NOT TODAY, which also high energy. I'm telling you I was exhausted after the 1st 2 numbers and we still had 2-1/2 hours to go. It was incredible. The's young men are in incredible shape.

In solo performances, jimin's solo was only the live stage..other members solos are pre recorded and jimin willingly wanted that to do it live to entertain the audience... All their stage performances was epic

i remember gasping for breath just watching this for the first time. it's an absolute performance masterpiece. 💜 it was so hyped but i cried. hahaha true true... it's sensory overload and it's overwhelming yet overwhelmingly wonderful!

I'll add myself to the list of people that never get tired of watching this. I'm older and I have NEVER seen a show anything like this. Had to keep reminding myself that this wasn't a BTS concert, but an Award Show!! Of course, BTS swept the awards so this was a bit of their going back to older songs on up to recent ones as of 2019, kind of saying, "See We Made It Despite the Haters!". It was The Most Epic performance I have ever seen, and probably will ever see in my lifetime. I am Soooo happy I found BTS in early 2021! FYI - the individual segments were: V doing "No More Dream" Jin doing "Danger" Jimin doing "I Need You" Suga doing "Fire" Jungkook doing "Save Me" J-Hope doing a remix of "Fake Love" RM leading the way for "Dionysus", which was mixed with "N.O." I believe Apparently, each of the boys represent a Greek god in their parts too, but I'll leave that up to someone else to explain. I heard that some parts, including the live horses parts were filmed ahead of time. Anyway, since 2016 when BTS first started winning awards, their shows got more and more epic. This one was the icing on the cake. I would suggest watching each of them from 2016 forward to 2020. They did a show for 2020 but it was in pandemic and, therefore, no live audience. Also, for that one, they were missing Suga because he was out recovering from shoulder surgery. Still, it is worth watching. Also, there are MAMA awards as well with different performances that are also great.

Helpful to know: the show that TV viewers and the show the live audience see is slightly different at K-pop award shows. We see everything on our screens. The live audience watches some of the show live on stage, but also watches parts on giant screens too. This allows time for costume and set changes. It is similar to a concert that has pre-recorded content between sets. The only difference is that parts of the pre-recorded show look like “live” stages from our perspective. The pre-recorded parts are taped “live” on the venue stage a day or two ahead with no audience, or sometimes a very small one. It gives the TV audience the appearance of one seamless “live” show. This is standard practice for these big award shows. For this performance, RM’s opening song was pre-recorded and shown on the screens. When he went to sit down in the empty classroom, the screen lifted to show the guys sitting behind it at the same set, live on stage. The next two songs were live. “Mimrokosmos” was also pre-recorded, and all the solo stages were a mix. We watched pre-recorded versions of V, Jin, Suga, J-Hope and JK. We saw Jimin and RM live on stage. The audience saw all of the solos live except JK. On the live stage they wore the black suits from the final song. The flower ladies and even the giant inflatable leopards were also live. Then it went back to VCR for the huge procession of soldiers and horses. Finally, the giant screen rose again to show the guys live on the same set (which was behind the screen) for the final song.

It's also the most expensive live show ever produced!

That's why BTS is usually the last performers at award shows. they close the award show who could follow them. Like the title said this was the BTS performance at the 2019 Melon Music Awards. This was not even a BTS concert just an award show. BTS concerts are a whole other thing entirely they're like a carnival. The festivities at a BTS concert start at 7 or 8 in the morning people have been setting up when it will still dark! For the early bird fans that arrive there are portrait venues to get your pictures taken with statues and figurines of BTS. merchandise stores! BTS songs playing on loudspeakers. Areas where there or places for fans to talk and exchange BTS event stories! K pop BTS dance competitions! For the ones that don't want to take part in all of this they can go into the venue find their seats and sit there for several hours. Once people start actually going into the concert venue then there are BTS songs playing on speaker's documentary videos music videos and other videos playing on giant screens. The technicians are synchronizing the computer system that links with people's cell phones which link to the BTS army bomb light sticks but the audience usually all have! Using cell phone GPS so that the computer system knows where every single army bomb light stick is located in the venue. I'm guessing that each like stick has a unique identity master cold of some sort! BTS finally comes out on stage the concert then last 2 1/2 to 3 hours and longer. It's broken up into group performances individual performances like this video had what actual solo songs group songs performed by just the rap line and just the vocal line. Even performances that might have two vocalists and one rapper two or three rappers and one or two vocalists performing together. It always ends with they're bringing up the lights and all the members spending 1520 up to 30 minutes just talking with the fans each member talking. It is definitely an interactive event the audience participation makes it more of a unified event audience takes part in the performances with their lights ticks fan chants and other activities. I will once again elaborate and mention that this was not part of a BTS concert this was just a performance at an award show.

WHEN you watch the whole MMA 2019 awards show, all the live performances were given enough time to showcase the other artists' songs and dances just like BTS. However, nothing compared to the performances of BTS. The songs and the dances were 1000 % better than any other kpop artists. And it was so blatantly obvious that BTS is wayyy up there !

I’ve watched the complete award show they run a little over 4 hours long! And this year they made a two day show of it because of how much content there was! BTS wasn’t and didn’t perform! But J Hope was there and her performed three of his songs from Jack and the Box and excepted all the awards that BTS as well his awards solo! He also called Jin on the phone and let Jin talk to Army !! It was anazing! If you watch the awards show before BTS became number one you’ll notice that EXO had the last performance with the most content BTS only did I think two or three songs and went just before EXO! Next year I wonder who will fill their spot! There are quite a few new upcoming groups! And four of them are from HYBE!! Our boys will be back! Or maybe the boys solo’s will make it!! Rm’s album is amazing!!!

I am lucky to be their fan but I am an unlucky 2020 Army. I mean I should have known earlier. During covid I became Army and never had the opportunity to see them live. And for a long time I won´t have that opportunity either. :( Santa brought me an Army Bomb so I am more than ready now! :)

The whole performance cost about USD$370,000 and took about 3 months of preparation. The organiser of this Melon Music Award provided abt 100 of its staff to help BTS and BigHit with the preparation. I need to state here that during the 3 months, BTS were actually on a World Tour and they came back to Korea only a few days before that big night. They also had another big stage performance for Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) just a few days later. Which means BTS members practiced for these 2 stages while on the Tour. When I watched this Live that night, I was breathless after the stage finished. Not a single second felt bored because we kept wondering what would come next, plus thinking what all the symbolisms meant 😅 😊. Thank you for watching this legendary stage.
