I had the incredible honor of being in the Allstate Arena in Chicago when he performed this. I didn’t think I could get any more emotional until I heard the (“Oh my gosh LIVE?!?”) string instruments soaring and supporting him on stage as he bared his soul. I’ve played the piano and violin, and music moves me so deeply...it’s almost unfair what he can do to your heart. Can we all take a moment and thank Yoongi’s parents for having a piano in the corner of their small house?? 😳 What would we be missing without it?? I can barely stand the thought. Love you guys and this reaction. 💜 PS-Y’all get a set of ladies grooving in the back and LOOK OUT. Boyz to Pips? Somebody call Columbia.

I've said this before but it bares repeating. Min Yoongi is not just a musician, he's a damn poet. I met B.B. King once & he let me hold Lucille. It was surreal. Yoongi is the only artist that I feel like has the same relationship to an instrument. It is a part of his soul and we are blessed to be witnesses and hear their stories and conversations thru their performances together. It is rare. B.B. had it, SRV had it, Tom Petty had it, and Min Yoongi has it in spades. Long live the young King. Happy Birthday Yoongi, thanks for being a big part of the soundtrack to my life.

In his interview Yoongi said about this song: "First love refers to the piano I played when I was young and also the only friend I had. I cried a lot when recording the track. In the second part, when I explode the feelings, I kept tearing up".

to add to this. there is one section in the song where his voice is doubled when he says "don't let go of my hand forever because I won't let you go either" This represents that both of them are saying this to each other.

Yup that's right... His cadence changes when he's speaking as the piano and that part Niko really liked where Suga used two cadences simultaneously was Suga and the piano speaking together!

I’ll always remember listing to this song for the first time. I was a baby army and just listened to them a bit on my way home from work. Than first Love came and , without understanding the lyrics at all, I just kept tearing up and cried in my car. I didn’t need to understand what he was trying to say cause I felt it. He truly is a genius

This was exactly the same for me. I had no idea what he was talking about and when it was over I was like... why am I crying? I had to go look up the lyrics after that, then I cried harder bc I abandoned my piano and pursuit of music too around that age. But unlike him, I didn’t come back around to it and it’s something I’ve always regretted. This song still makes me cry every time I hear it. It’s also the reason why Yoongi became my bias and has been for the past 5 years or so. The more of his music I hear, the more I realize what a gifted artist he is. His music is the one thing that can make me feel better when I’m at my lowest. 😭💜

The fact that he talks about his hurting his shoulder and then he still played the piano. Through the years he struggled with the shoulder, but still made music.

Suga is the only rapper that makes me cry. This song and Shadow makes me cry. He is amazing with his emotional heartfelt delivery. He brings you into his world and you feel his pain. This isn't just a song. It's a piece of poetry, a novel, a tale, a story of a man who followed his passion, his 1st love despite the hurdles and obstacles that life threw at him. I haven't listened to this song in a bit. I forgot how much I cry when I hear it. I cried through the whole thing. The basic sound behind his words, it sounds like piano and a metronome to me. And of course, the lyrics are just amazing. Just tell me how many artists write like this? I asked this on Twitter after Bulletproof Eternal. How many artists ask why are you still walking with us? Did an artist just ask why their fans still want to listen to their music? Like what?! The lyrics always feel amazing. Have you listened to The Last by Suga and I've forgotten, because that one hits me too. That one made him my wrecker. I am OT7. I have a special place for Jimin because his dancing sucked me into BTS and Suga because I relate to his anxiety. And he was willing to share his vulnerability with us in that song. Yoongi's music is so honest, emotional, and raw. His lyrics always hit the hardest for me, whether they're savage like in "Daechwita" or consoling like in "So Far Away." You always know he'll deliver. Behind story of "First Love": Yoongi recorded it by himself right after wrapping up production on his first mixtape, Agust D. He was emotionally drained and cried while recording the second half of "First Love." Unfortunately, the audio file got corrupted. The mixers called Yoongi when he was on his way to the airport and told him that he needed to re-record the song. Yoongi said in his Wings Concept Book interview, "I cried that hard while recording it but (laughs) I recorded again after going back to Korea and went to catch a flight again 4 or 5 hours later. It was stressful but fun.”

Finally, I've waiting for this. This is the song where my admiration for yoongi's writing skills and artistry sky rocketed. The way he uses piano as a metaphor for what he truly means (in my guess which is music), I still think about how much of genius that is. And the way he made it like the piano is actually speaking to him, I just 😭. This song really hit hard because this doesn't only speaks about music, this could be also about every artist with art and what they feel.

I couldn’t believe that I cried during a song when someone was taking about a piano(music), because i feel if anyone else tried to it would seem kind of cheesy in a way, but he it made so touching and amazing!!! Min Yoongi is such an artistic lyricist. His flow through his music can be so heartwrenching and awe inspiring at thr same time. I am an artist who uses painting as my primary medium and I know that he paints as well. I can see how and why he is so good at both. He knows how to paint music with his style and words. He can translate music into color so he can paint a picture with that as well. First Love is in my top 5 of Min Yoongi's songs. I love it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Genius Min Yoongi Suga!! 💜💞🥳💞💜

The piano is still there, no matter how many times he leaves. It may change shape. But it’s forever there, forever his first love. Also there was a time he wasn’t sure he would be able to play comfortably because of his shattered shoulder. Can you imagine living with social anxiety and depression and losing your first love, which in his case is his piano, his music? Having parents that couldn’t understand that it’s the very thing keeping you grounded. I couldn’t. Piano was the very first instrument I learned to play. Painting and playing helped me so much when it came to my own depression. So hearing this, I cried. Because I understood too well how it feels. Being introverted but not knowing how to trust people enough to let them in enough for them to love you. Being alone, but not really wanting to be alone. But don’t know how to go about not being alone. Because it’s all we know.

They always share their feelings to us. Genuine, pure and honetly. Their raw sides, their hardships, all of them. They're truely giving us all they have, they're giving us much more of what we deserved. That makes them more precious, too precious to have. And the fact here he sang/rap for those two sides, his pov and his piano's. Their connectio is so beautiful. I can never relate to that coz I can't play any instrument but I can relate that to my passion for singing. Singing makes me calm and music makes me whole. This is my song. This is the song that Suga spoke to my soul. This is my favorite song ever written by any composer, lyricist, or whatever by anyone EVER. And will always be my special song. Suga's song is intertwined in my soul. I didn't even know what the lyrics were and it spoke to me. Then when I read the lyrics - it felt like he was telling my own story. Exposing my deepest hurt to the world. I finally understood why I couldn't love anyone or anything whole heartedly, especially myself. This song is the turning point to my life. I'm now living it instead of waiting for it to end. I owe everything I am accomplishing now, to Suga and his song. 💜💜💜

I came back to rewatch this reaction again and I still tear up every time I listen to this song or see him preform it. When I saw Yoongi with the piano in 'Yet to Come' I instantly bawled my eyes out for like 20min straight before I could even finish the MV. I still can't get through 'Yet to Come' without crying a bit(just b/c of EVERYTHING they have given us and never expected anything in return). BTS just talks to the soul and that'll never change no matter what chapter of their personal lives or group phase they are in. This is why BTS and ARMY will always be connected.

The first time I ever heard this was around 3 am in the morning with my headphones in. No lyrics, only me tablet and his voice in my ears... and I wept. I didn't understand the context of the song, but his cadence, power, music was enough to bring me to tears. After learning the lyrics, it made that sentiment resonate all the more for me, since I too love, live music. This is one, if not the favorite song in their catalogue for me.

During this song when he sang about his injured shoulder I could see him sitting at his piano just frustrated at the thought of not playing again and doing what he was meant to do . I for one am so impressed by his quiet strength and determination that he will never give up on his dream no matter how it may hurt him , physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Happy bday suga. This is the reason I cried when I played his Chapter Story in BTS World. His storyline was really touching 😢 Then you remember First Love exists and it amplifies that emotion. He's simply brilliant!!!

I was listening to this song, for the first time, while I was cleaning house. It stopped me in my tracks. I didn’t even know what SUGA was saying, but I could feel his passion in this song. I was in tears at the end, despite not even knowing what the song meant (other than it was about a piano). I went and looked up the lyrics and this song is just so moving! His love and gift for lyrics, his musicality and his poetry just flowed from this song. Amazing!

I think this is one of the best love song towards something that we all connect to, sooner or later, which is music. Yoongi describe the feelings in such a raw and honest way... the live performance in the Wings Tour is mind-blowing! If you can look at it, please do because it's worth watching! 💜
