They were the final act of the show and they definitely showed how you end an award show in epic fashion! Could you imagine having to follow that?! 😵

the way we all UNANIMOUSLY think of this as their best award show performance but when they had to guess army's favorite performance they didn't even remember it 😭😭

Someone will probably explain this better than me in another comment, but basically in their dance solos before Dionysus starts properly, the members are representing Greek gods. Tae is Apollo (god of the sun), Jin is Aries (god of war), Jimin is Artemis (goddess of the moon and hunt), Yoongi is Haphaestus (god of fire and smithing), Jungkook is Poseidon (god of the sea), Hobi is Zeus (god of thunder), and Namjoon is the titular god Dionysus (god of wine and art). The staff Namjoon takes is the thyrsus, Dionysus' staff. The lights being lowered from the ceiling end up forming the star constellation Corona Borealis, which is connected to Dionysus. Btw, the horses weren't there live - that would have been animal cruelty. They were pre-recorded, as was the performance of Mikrokosmos and some of the solo dances - the one I know is live is Jimin's and the one I know is pre-recorded is Jungkook's (JK was spotted dancing along to the recording in the wings, so cute!).

this is one of the best performances of all time overall and i'm not even joking honestly. the fact they did this and then got the first daesang sweep in history 15 minutes later, it's wild. only bts can pull this stuff off. their stage presence is unmatched.

loved the reaction and am looking forward to more!! just to answer some of your questions : 19:02 the low note is by taehyung! he does a lot of the lower octaves in harmonies. the solo intros before dionysus were pretty much remixes of some of their title tracks and they're not officially released versions (they're specially mixed for this performance) 23:02 tae's solo was their debut song "no more dream" 24:10 jin's solo was "danger" 25:18 jimin's solo was "i need you" 26:29 yoongi's (suga) solo was "fire" 27:47 jungkook's solo was "save me" 28:59 hobi's solo was "fake love" (there is a rock ver of this song, but this particular mix is different!) 30:24 namjoon's (rm) solo was just the actual instrumental of "dionysus" 38:00 this is the instrumental to their 2nd title track, "N.O", which is why everyone in the audience freaked out, cause no one expected it! 39:37 the crazy high note's done by jin! the story behind it is actually quite hilarious. the producer that was working on the song just called him in to scream at the top of his lungs out of nowhere and so he just did it and it came out sounding like that😭

Normally I cringe a lil when new/semi new to BTS reactors do this so early in their journey, afraid they're not going to have heard or understand the songs. But, after binge-watching all your BTS reactions this week and your analysis after the songs, I was totally excited to watch you react to this legendary performance. You should also check out some of the PTD stage in either LA or Vegas - the Black Swan production is just amazing. They are such consummate performers. Also ty for doing the extra deep dive into each members solo stuff and not just doing 1 song, but getting a good sampling. Quality reactions - new subscriber. This is one of the performances you literally never forget. Man I can't even believe it's been 3 years. Jimin and Jungkook's solo's were my favorites to be honest, but they all killed this.

A lot of ppl when started watching BTS they will have a bias, but when you see them perform live on stage, you will be bias wrecked by every other member till you don't even know which one is your bias anymore because you love all of them.

Hell yeah, this performance was legendary. BTS i must say always are all out giving their very best each time. From their stages, production , outfits, music, etc. they really do not short change things and to think this is just an award show. Grammy’s cant even top this. No wonder MMA and even MAMA always save BTS as the last performer because they are the highlight of the award shows. These guys are legends! The 2018 MMA was another epic show, check on that as well. They showed 'em who's KING! 🤴 👑 I haven't seen this kind of performance AND production anywhere else. They always give their all. I think they dont even look at their production budget as long as they can give the best show even if they lose money. I've heard they lost money during their last Korean concert because very few were allowed to watch inside the stadium (therefore less ticket sales) but they still provided a great show. These guys are artists and they do this for the love of their craft and ARMY! I'm so glad I've seen them live in LA. Unforgettable experience!💜

At the time of the original broadcast, Melon posted member fan cams for this performance and of course I watched them all. If you watch JK in a group spin sequence (it's a backwards pirouette, really), he has incredible form, pointed toes in his boots with a slight kick at the end (36:39 in your reaction). BangtanTV also posted a behind-the-scenes episode of the members preparing for this performance and there was a screenshot the members liked of J-Hope flying parallel to the table, his arm straight out/his hand on the table. I just thought: these guys are consummate professionals, they just go all out and we're the beneficiaries of that, aren't we lucky!

This was also the very first live performance of BTS I watched & there was no going back after it lol. It’s also when I knew without a doubt that I would never have a single bias in this group. Irrevocably made me an OT7 bias! My jaw was on the floor by the end. And the thing is…BTS’s live performances are almost always insane. Every awards show they do something that will leave you going WHUUUU?! But not just award shows. Their performances during the pandemic - the creativity, the sets, unparalleled. I’ve seen them live 4 times now and in concert they are arguably one of the best live acts in the world, of ANY genre. I absolutely loved your reaction Austin. You’re so genuine and so lovely. Still remember watching this 6/7am... I was so sleepy, and they always put BTS in the end... It was awesome, it was like when I watched the 2019 MAMA ( very crazy, but I couldn't scream 7 am...) BTS won all 4 daesangs this night, and they just did this award show their Map Of The Soul concert. songs played in this live performance: boy in luv, boy with luv, mikrokosmos, save me (jk), fire (suga), danger (jin), no more dream (debut song/ taehyung), I need u (jimin), fake love (hobi), dionysus (in the dance break they played a remix of N.O, a legendary song one of my fav bts title tracks).

I've been waiting for reaction today since yesterday. Awesome award show to pick. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their award show performances. They perform like no other.

For the intro of Dionysus, the horses scene was pre-recorded without loud music and audiences and was aired on the TV as if it was live show so that the horses are not stressed by noises. So during the live performances, there were only bts and dancers on the stage. You can check the horses suddenly disappeared after 34:36 when the song starts.

I really recommend mama 2020 too it was really such a good performance

Mikrokosmos is one of the songs dedicated to Army, in it they point out that each person and their story are important, we can all shine by our own light. I recommend you read the lyrics, you will love it. 19:04 it's V who sings the lower octave, he was really in his normal voice as it's deep and gravelly (like RM's which is the one you mentioned). V has the widest range of the group so he can be in lower octaves or singing in the same notes and octaves as the other vocalists who are tenors.

One thing about BTS .. their live performances are often even better than their MVs

i don't know if someone already told you but the guy in all white with his mouth wide open during the intro of dionysus is sunwoo of the group "the boyz". like 3 members of that group are huge BTS stans so you might see them in a lot of "idols reacting to BTS" compilations.

This performance is between the albums of "Map of the Soul: Persona" and "Map of the Soul: 7". Here they are already hinting at the "shadow" part of our personality as Carl Jung describes it (and quiet likely at the planned "hiatus from group work" that the pandemic delayed). Someone has a sense of humor... when Jimin sings "text me" you see two male Idols right? That are the two oldest members of TxT - BTS "younger brothers" group (the other three were too young to stay up that late and had to go before that). There is a bit of pre-recording done here: for example what we see of "Persona" (he performed it live but not like that) and only two intros of "Dionysus" were live: Jimin and RM. And now guess who messed up his stage and nearly hurt himself?... There is a reason the camera is not on him in that important moment... typical for our cute "God of Destruction". Mind you we are dealing with Greek mythology not Christian one. I love this performance! Jimin dancing in that white outfit he looks like an angel and his dancing is so beautiful and graceful. I love him so much(ok I'm rambling sorry lol) and Jungkook dancing in water still not over that. And just the beautiful performance of Mikrokosmos and the hype stage for Dionysus we basically just got a whole BTS concert. When I saw BTS live in 2019, this was the first song. It was amazing seeing BTS live! They are excellent performers!

I'm not familiar with what BTS music you've heard, but do you know Dis-ease? That one is largely wrote by J-Hope like Dionysus was, and is excellent as well. It's definitely a different vibe but is one of my favorite BTS songs along with Dionysus. I'm obsessed with Dionysus... It's been my ringtone since shortly after its release. To be fair though I love BTS' versatility, their more rap heavy or hip hop songs are my favorite because that's just my taste. Ugh! is sickening (in the best way), so is Outro: Tear and Outro: Her (Though slower). Paldogangsan and Second Grade are older but also great. Run BTS is a lot of fun and gets me hype, so do their Cyphers, but all these are different experiences too. They change styles a lot. BTS' solo work is impressive as well, and the rapline have released stellar albums. J-Hope recently released two MV's for his new album Jack in the box and the songs are both crazy good; he did a bit of everything on JITB. (Tbh I probably listen to rap lines solos as much as BTS' group music.)
