The role of U.S. government is to channel public money into the hands of elites. Eligible voters who don't vote are the biggest political party. I volunteered to registered voters at my university. We had record numbers of registrations this past fall. I will continue to encourage Gen Z to become engaged because every vote counts. Please continue to use your influence on the Dems to develop a clear platform that is better than "well, I ain't Trump". Thank you for the work you do Professor!

Last time almost no one voted third party. I think now that Joe Biden has been president and many people have been disappointment with his performance, particularly in relation to Israel-Palestine, many people will jump ship and vote third party. Many people are mad that we have to choose between these two candidates again.

@@ericseamons9982 Voting Third Party is not a good idea because it is likely to make it easier for Trump to win, and few disaffected Biden voters actually Want that. Working to change the system itself is a good idea. ("Score then Rank" - score and then rank all the candidates on the ballot. The two candidates with the most cumulative votes are matched against each other. This way you can vote for your preferred candidate without much risking "the bad candidate" winning.)

Inflation in the US is lower than ANY other free-market economy. Joe's administration has created more jobs in his first term than any other president in the past century, including over 4 million manufacturing jobs--and the rate of wage growth is outpacing the rate of inflation... Joe also signed the bipartisan Infrastructure Act in his first year; something which Honest Don and his slimy GOP congressional enablers couldn't deliver in 4 years--despite promising it in 2 weeks. Joe also strengthened and united NATO against Russian aggression. In one term he managed to pass PACT (protecting veterans' health), CHIPS, the Infrastructure Law, the American Recovery Act, and the first meaningful gun violence reduction legislation in my lifetime since the assault weapons ban. He has also acted to protect the rights of those traditionally marginalized and minimized in US politics and institutions... He achieved ALL of this despite deep partisan divisions in congress and resistance from extremists in his own party...

Even poor whites in rural areas who are competing for jobs and affordable housing. The surge is a present for corporate America but only hurts people on the lower rungs of society. Robert is always talking about the income gap and income inequality but never mentions that. He’ll call out corporate greed for companies that outsource jobs to Mexico, but is perfectly ok with companies that insource labor to the US . Let's start with the fact that the FBI not only had possession of hunter bidens labtop in 2020 and refused to acknowledge it until after the election, but they also commanded twitter to censor true information about the labtop during the election. We know the FBI commanded twitter to do this from the emails from the twitter files. The Durham report shows how the FBI spied on Trumps campaign, leaked the information to Hillarys campaign, then colluded with Russia to pin falsehoods on Trump by fabricating the Steele dossier with unverified information. FBI member Charles mcgonigal who was appointed by James comey was caught colluding with Russia. Why is the FBI so corrupt and also have a clear bias against Trump?

If they aren't convinced by what they already saw, such as the Jan insurrection on the capitol, I doubt there is much left. There's a long list of Trump's attempts, fake electors, the call for 11,670 votes, etc. It might be worthwhile to try another approach. Show them the Whitehouse website, particularly the The Record section.

First is this happening online or offline? If offline then sit them down to a video montage of all the warnings you can find which is pretty easy to do. Then ask them is not voting going to solve it or make it worse by allowing TFG to regain authority. If that doesn't get a certain type of response after watching a few of the videos you've selected then focus in on what their key issues are and do a comparison between (R) and (D) to at least get them to see (D) are at least trying. If that doesn't;t work they are gaslighting you and you should drop them from your life and focus on people who are open.

I volunteer to contact people who vote by mail to please return their ballots and to contact those who signed their ballots incorrectly and need to correct so their vote counts. Last election, that was over 600 voters.

Make sure that your name is on the register, even if you have no reason for it not to be there (even if you're in a blue district, because technology can go wrong). Do this again near the cut-off date for registration if you live in a red district. Remember what they did in the last election; so-called "purges" of the register. They _will_ do it again in some places, so assume it'll happen in yours.

Section 3 of tge 14th Amendment specifies this matter of qualification for civil/military office without requiring a conviction, and it has been applied to people in the past who were obviously culpable but not convicted. Trump's conviction is probably pending, but it's a separate issue. This is about meeting minimum qualifications, and Trump has obviously disqualified himself.

I think reaching people who are already turned off and tuned out is key. Attempts to correct misperceptions or inaccuracies makes little impact without ears to hear it, and in my experience a lot of people don't want to hear it. They're already infected with cynicism and exhausted by all the drama. Sometimes it helps to get them to unload a little about their exhaustion - without asking for any buy-in right off the bat. This is difficult for me, personally, because I feel so strongly and I'm not a calculating type person. But I try. Then, if possible, I encourage them to curate their news aggressively - to strictly fact-based sources. But even that can be a hard sell. Another approach to defusing some of the angst is to point out that political upheaval is actually pretty common in human history, while the relative stability in our own lifetimes actually isn't. We were lucky to get an expectation of relative peace. Then, if possible, I suggest that it wasn't really luck but the result of the efforts by our predecessors who did take a stand, even in small ways. Bottom line, just getting to the point of making a dent takes some opening strategies and effort. Before organizing and door knocking, there has to be a way to access the will of those who are just tired and disgusted.

I recently called someone out for re-posting a statement about the low number of Iowans who constituted a majority in the Iowa caucuses, calling them "rural corn-humping Iowans". (I blame the low turnout on it being time-consuming caucuses, rather than a primary election, where you can vote quickly.) This kind of talking down to people is part of the reason why Trump voters exist. I come from a rural part of Minnesota and have now lived in a college town in another state with more urban values. I generally disagree politically with people from my place of origin, but calling them names serves no purpose.

Not quite. Admittedly, it's unlikely that Indiana will go for Biden, but there are a number of down-ballot choices that can help small-d democracy. Senator, Representative, state offices... Depending on what part of the state you're gerrymandered into, you can make a difference, especially if you help educate and motivate those unlikely to vote because "my vote is wasted thanks to the electoral college".

@@tracesprite6078 of the 18 listed talking points I only found one that I felt credible enough to share with others. That being money spent on infrastructure. The rest were questionable or of topics that nobody cares. My friends and neighbors want a strong economy that gives the promise of the American dream to them and their children. They also want to be free. They want a country that is free. Strong foreign policy and secure borders.
