You can just see his teacher transmission via him. Great!

Some of the people in the Buddhist centre I used to attend were clearly in need of therapy and using meditation and Buddist rituals to avoid it. I've also come to see that a fair number of teachers could really use therapy too. It's all in service of the same goal - greater happiness and freedom. In order to let go of who you are, you have to KNOW who you are in the first place - "You have to be somebody before you can be nobody." This is one area where therapy can form a powerful dynamic with Buddhism. The other area is found in the fact that therapy can also serve exactly the same function as Buddhism - investigating the mind and bringing awareness to its unconscious places in order to dissolve its obstacles so that the burden of the Self is lifted.

What's up with the split in his voice? Feels like he's drifting into higher meditative states mid-sentence. I don't find it necessarily pleasant, but rather unsettling to listen to. I do not mind the two vibes, though. The high-flying meditative energy is amazing on it's own. The voice of reason and presence is great, on its own. Blended together - as in drifting between super high metaphysicality and physical presence - not a mix I enjoy. I would rather hear one pure presence, one voice, one message. Not this fluctuating voice of dual presence, dual entities.

Pure perception might not make a distinction

are you saying the lama ,outer guro, is the therapist?

I don't think so. I rather agree with Ram Dass, when he says that the Guru is the Door that opens itself for you to another consciousness made of awareness. Than, it's up to you to go through that door or not.
