That's a nice kit. All up it's a pretty good set-up for the price. I am clueless when it comes to rifle and accessory prices, but I'd pay that for 250 metres of night vision and the ability to feed the dogs with game.

I found the Hogue rubber stock too flexible, the stainless and I got the package that Howa did over here with a Wildcat moderator, great gun quality build!

Awesome on the Howa build. All the scope and ancillaries get me a little confused being new to the game. Great videos thankyou.

I am here in the uk and am using same pard and Sirius ir and nikko scope cheaper end scopes tend to agree with the pard and the pard is highly efficient with vcsel diode used in the Sirius xtl you can see and identify quarry further than you would be able to take an accurate shot at

Nice video. I have been wondering how to get into night shooting like this inside a decent budget and it’s great to see that it’s possible. And also see the actual result in a hunting setup. Just need to decide what to sell to finance this 😂

Glad to hear mate. That's exactly why I posted the video up.

Once again a great informative video Nathan. Thanks for putting in the effort to share with others. How do you go with eye relief? Think I would be getting a few new scars if put that scope set up on anything bigger than a .243.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. The PARD NV007 is rated to 308 recoil. The eye relief isn't bad if you run the squishy eye shield thingy right out. I think that's 45mm but could be wrong (haven't measured it). I reckon you'd be fine on a 243 but I wouldn't mount one on my 3.2kg scoped 308. That'd bite me for sure.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK4 жыл бұрын
Oh and I've got the scope on this rig probably 20-30mm forward of normal as I mainly run the add on. But it's not noticeable when it's not on, if that makes sense.

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Yeah Nathan, won't be rushing out to buy one for the .338. Would be fun though.

Thank you for showing us your build. Much appreciated. Lot's ideas to take away from this video. Is the 204 ruger noisy in a 20 inch barrel?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Trent. I hope some can get a tip or two from this one. Yes..... It's got quite the bark being only 20" long. Certainly noticed when you don't use hearing protection a lot quicker than my 22" barrel 223Rem.

Just wondering now that you have move from the Pard NV to the Pulsar thermal scope if you still have a use for the thermal monocular?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK3 жыл бұрын
I still run NV mate. Just on my 17HMR with the NV008. No hesitation the thermal scanner is my most used device every night.

Well, you’ve wrecked my budget. I won’t be able to rest now until I get one of those Pard’s on my own 204. Thanks a bunch!! Where did you get that Sirius illuminator? It seems obvious not getting one is a false economy.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK4 жыл бұрын
😂 Thanks, I think. Unfortunately Aussie customs seem to have clamped down on the Sirius XTL lights getting in. Laser regulations I believe. It's hit or miss if they get through. He has a Facebook group though called Irlightbuilds. There's also a few other UK makers of quality IR laser lights.
@bruiser64794 жыл бұрын
EDGE of the OUTBACK That’s a bugger about importing the illuminator. Are you aware of another option that would work well enough? Where I shoot most of our shots would be within about 200 metre. I have been looking at night vision but the ATN stuff seems to be expensive for what you are getting. I could buy a nice Swarovski for the price of the ATN. The fact you can swap the Pard between rifles is appealing. Plus if you buy a decent illuminator that’s less subject to obsolescence is my view. Love the videos by the way. Very factual based on actual real world experience. Plus I really like how you’ve created your 204. It is a great calibre in my experience. Good shot on that cat as well.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK4 жыл бұрын
@@bruiser6479 there's quite a few IR options. Probably best to get on a Aussie night vision group or thermal hunting and all around. The inbuilt IR on the PARD isn't terrible. It's a 5w laser but the smaller head restricts the range somewhat. The hog sniper LED lights are well regarded. I think there's a few others similar to that but can't recall the make of them unfortunately. Glad you like the vids mate. Positive responses will keep me putting them up.

His do those “clip-ons” go on the bigger Centrefires?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK2 жыл бұрын
Rated to 308win but eye relief is only 35mm. I'd be more concerned with scoping myself depending how much your rifle kicks.

Hi Nath, could you please give me the details of your night vision, and sorry was that just your average scope. I’m running a leupold 4-12x40 on my Remington 223. Great scope. Great gun, but I’m using a hand held night vision device then red light bolted on to scope. I’m on a budget, my problem is, losing the fox between putting hand held down, light on then focus my eyes for the kill. Yes I’m on a budget. But I love the pulsar…….

Just curious what damage does a feral cat do?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK5 ай бұрын
Here's a extract from an Australian government study and report. "Cats continue to drive population decline in Australian native animal species. Predation by cats is a recognised threat to over 200 nationally threatened species, and 37 listed migratory species (of which nine are also listed as threatened) . Feral cats in Australia kill over 1.5 billion native mammals, birds, reptiles and frogs, and 1.1 billion invertebrates each year. Pet cats kill over 500 million native vertebrate animals each year. Although their overall toll is lower than that imposed by feral cats, because pet cats live at high density, their ‘local’ impacts are much higher than that of feral cats."
