308 Winchester VS Feral Invasive Animals in Australia || Pulsar Thermion XQ50 Scope

EDGE of the OUTBACK

EDGE of the OUTBACK

3 жыл бұрын

On this trip I'm back shooting my 308 Winchester and the XQ50 Thermion scope. I had the ATV quadbike, all the thermal gear and night lights plus an ammo box full of Hornady 150 grain SST reloads. Unfortunately the feral pigs didn't come out to play but I managed to thin out two feral cats, a dozen foxes and a few other assorted feral critters. (I may have shot another mouse.....)
These feral invasive animals don't stand much of a sporting chance with this type of pest control / shooting / night hunting. But that's the idea......... Critters on the deck and not killing native animals is the aim of the game !!!

The larger the caliber & the heavier/faster the bullet = more humane kills w/ less time of suffering before death. I always recommend using caliber of rifle that shoots the heaviest bullets at highest velocity when eradicating destructive invasive species... Only exception being don't want too big a bullet when hunting to harvest meat. Using too big a caliber can waste way more meat than necessary. Gotta find balance between humane kill & not wasting harvest. Like when I hunt White Tail Deer here in TX, I mostly use my .243... But we have huge feral hog problem, and will use either my AR10 in .308, or my AR15 with 450 Bushmaster or 6.8SPC Uppers

You've set up to go for pigs ,the fact that foxes are in numbers and you're culling with your .308 really isn't an issue - all your backdrops look safe from what you're showing in the footage. Excellent effort Nathan. I was a bit worried you were under gunned. Rabbits can be vicious and you need to make sure they go down. An excellent nights work for you. I love seeing these introduced pests getting sent to Valhalla.

I've got a box loaded up actually of those 110's. But only slow, call it a light recoil load.

Awsome vid mate as always, just getting better and better. Thing is, nothing goes to waste out there despite what people think, plenty of tasty snacks for the crows and eagles in the morning. Great work!

I'd actually spotted something scurry up there. Wasn't certain if it was a cat or possum. So I moved in and around for a better, safer angle. Glad I did.
