the mobo is pci gen 3 so you wont get the full speeds. any 1tb m.2 with at least 1500-2000 MB speed should do the job

Mobo and cpu aren't gen 4 but moving forward you might find gen 4 drive for the same or cheaper price and they will hold up longer in future build potentially.

Hmm, I'm not 100% sure on how the A580 will handle PCVR. The one downside of ARC GPUs is that, since Intel is new to the GPU market, they're sort of playing catch up in optimizing for the variety of games and applications available. My guess is that you'd be better off opting for either an RX 6600 or RTX 3050,---both slightly mor expensive than the A580---as AMD/NVIDIA will likely offer better support for what you're looking to do. I think NVIDIA offers the better VR support, but the 3050 trails behind the 6600 and A580 in traditional gaming performance.

No connection to the motherboard is necessary. The case comes with a controller that all of the fans are pre-connected to. You'll just need to connect a SATA power connector from your PSU to the controller to power them. Just note, though, that these aren't true RGB lights, as they only stay in this multi-colored mode.

I usually put my fan facing down, but the general consensus is that it doesn't really matter too much, with the exception that some non-standard case formats may be better suited one way or the other. For this build I don't think it will matter.

Definitely 👆 First time using an Intel GPU and am impressed. Hopefully they can start competing in the higher tiers and force NVIDIA and AMD to lower prices.

Check this reddit thread. Seems to be a common problem and you'll need to delete your GPU drivers with DDU and reinstall them: www.reddit.com/r/ValorantTechSupport/comments/yxmeq6/help_with_d3d11_gpu_error/ I believe I had to go into BIOS and enable secure boot as well in order to play it.

Definitely a good point! I checked the local used market where I live before I built this system and, unfortunately, there weren't a lot of great deals. I don't live in a huge metropolitan area, though... I'm assuming that helps.

Yes you can, but you'll also need to swap the motherboard for an LGA 1700 socket micro-ATX motherboard. That would either be an H610 or B660 chipset board. A B660 board will probably be tough to fit in a $500 budget unless you find a good deal. H610 will run the 12400F fine, but will limit your upgrade potential a bit. But you have basically the same problem if you stick with the Ryzen 5 5500 and the A520 chipset board we chose.

The stock cooler that the Ryzen 5 5500 comes with already has thermal paste preapplied, so unless you want to apply your own, you don't have to.

@@Ghosty_VRx The motherboard doesn't have built-in WiFi so you'll need to connect to the internet via ethernet or you can get a cheap USB WiFi card.

It's an interesting game to benchmark because it's so difficult to run. I've played it a bit to get gameplay footage for these videos, though, and you're right... it's a very flat and boring game.
