I have had “ Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday ,No Carb Wednesday, Eat what you want Thursday, Left over Friday , Sandwiches Saturday ever since I retired. One Sunday I cook for the week . Three meat choices, three carbs, three sides and three salads. I then eat buffet style all week . Sunday I eat a little of everything I cook before it goes in the fridge. I do enough to put some in freezer and some in fridge . Still haven’t been able to cook only enough for one after cooking for a family. The best part is only having to deep clean the kitchen on Sunday.

Brothers argue? No! That could never happen. 🤣🤣🤣 this was an absolutely amazing video. Forget school lunches for someone like me who needs to bring their lunch to work so they’re not spending money every day buying it, this is fantastic.

Sis I really wish you had a recipe book. Thank you for doing this video. My kids are homeschooled as well. Got a friends sending their kids to school the thermos idea is great. Could always let the kids use stickers and as they grow take them off. The pain of taking them off is cheaper than buying anew.

5 teens here They do so much themselves! We mostly do lentils & rice and pbjs on oat flour muffins No wheat Plus oatmeal or grits with eggs at breakfast Kefir at both Meat is at night only Some days I go crazy and we put the peanut butter at breakfast in the oatmeal especially, and then we can do egg salad lunch. Otherwise since we already would’ve headaches at breakfast we don’t do them again for lunch of course but we try to make both meals be vegetarian just really can’t afford meat Blessings

Great video as usual! I was homeschooled way back in the day and my momma used school lunch trays to serve us lunch our first year out of of public school. She was awesome and wanted to make sure the transition was easier for us. It was so fun. 😊 That was 32 years ago and I still remember it.

I'm a new subscriber and have watched several of your videos. I thought you were homeschooling. I homeschooled my three children, who are now 40, 32, and 25. Because of their age differences, I homeschooled for 27 years. I never thought of preparing their lunches ahead of time. That's a great idea!! We usually ate leftover dinner. As a widow, it's just me. I've gotten several ideas from you and appreciate your style of cooking. I also like "inventing" as I go. I used to host "Mother's Dinners" once a month. I would cook the main dish and plan out of the menu of what everyone would bring. We had themed dinners such as Mexican, Japanese, Hawaiian, etc. At the beginning of the school year, I would cook beef curry and rice and tomato chutney. I would have the ladies bring all the chopped items to top the curry. The chopped items include onions, celery, olives, boiled eggs, cheese, raisins, bacon, lettuce, and many more things. We ALL enjoyed that meal. Your videos are GREAT!

Retired lady but I love these lunch videos to give me lunch and dinner ideas for myself. I worked for LLBean 7 seasons in call center I always encouraged people to purchase basic colors for backpacks etc. Kids can make them their own using stickers, ribbons etc

If you put your tortillas in the fridges they will last a looong time. I've never had them go bad in the fridge.

I love the lunches my kid packed lunch K-12 and I packed them all so from one mom to another when you make chicken for dinner make extra you can freeze it in freezer bags and that helps

My daughter just graduated this past May. But I bought 2 hot pink thermos & a matching bento. The 2 different thermosses was mainly used in the winter. So she didn't have to wait for a microwave to warm her food. We replaced her lunchbox ever year but not at the beginning of the year. We waited until they went on clearance. But her bento boxes & thermosses was great year after year.

I don't know if anyone has ever told you but you are an excellent writer mother. It's easy to add a little bit bag of chips & a crustable sandwich. I was like you. Most of the time I sent a hot lunch because they had a microwave. I say most of the time because once a week I let my daughters choose there lunches. Al. Ost anything was allowed. I it had to have a. Protein which could be any meat in the fridge, it had to have either 1 fruit or 1 Veggie, it could only have 1 kind of High sugar choice. But the rest was up to them. My daughter just graduated this past May & and Friday we take her to the University of Tennessee. So I'm very sad this week. My husband doesn't understand. But I can't hold her back She is very smart. She works hard. I my oldest is 27 today. She works with special needs children at our local elementary school. Both have become amazing young women. Anyway you are an amazing mother.

Have you ever tried party pizzas? Pumpernickel bread( party size) is your base Take breakfast sausage, cooked and broken up like ground beef for tacos. Add chopped onion and seasonings to sausage while cooking. Next add Rotel and velveeta cheese. Place about 1 tablespoon on each pumpernickel bread slice. Can freeze on a cookie sheet and when totally frozen can place in a freezer bag for when ready to use. Otherwise can bake right away or from frozen state at 350 degrees for around 10 minutes. Would be easy and they taste really good for your Friday pizza day. We make these all the time, but mostly for days after Thanksgiving leading up to Christmas. Great for when you are busy. Just make sure to get at least two to three sleeves of bread. This makes up close to a full gallon freezer bag. Ingredients are: party size pumpernickel bread( 2-3 sleeves) Can of original Rotel 1/2 cup Velveeta Cheese 1-lb Onion 1-small, chopped fine Oregano 1/2 teaspoon Anise Seed 1/2 teaspoon Sausage or hamburger meat 1-lb Directions: Brown meat and onion, drain if any grease. Add seasonings, cheese and Rotel. After cheese has melted and everything has been mixed well, place a tablespoon of mixture on the bread. Bake at 400 degrees for around 10 minutes or until just starting to brown the cheese a little. Makes around: 50-60 pieces or more. These can be frozen. ***Do Not heat in microwave! This will make up ( at least if not more) 2 sleeves of the party bread. If you prefer you can use: Party Rye or Party Wheat if can not find the Pumpernickel. I have also used the regular pumpernickel bread and just cut it into 4ths. The Party breads are usually found near the deli section of a store. I have found them hard to find at Walmart and sometimes can only find them closer to the holidays. The party size is around $3.00...reason we usually just fix them around holidays. About the same though as a frozen pizza. We like these better though.

One thing I have found is each of my 3 is different. Two love raw bell peppers and cucumbers, raspberries, blackberries and carrots. One just prefers a sandwich and some pretzels. Literally every day. It's so easy to pack for that one. I do try in general though to follow one each of a protein, carb and a fat. They all love when I wrap lunch meat around string cheese too though. (Don't pay for the pre made ones, way too expensive)

Something else that goes a long way is giving mom a break and learning a life skill by them making their own lunches and washing their own dishes. They're at home so just use plates.

Great school lunch ideas! I love "Bento" type lunches and the weekly/daily themes take all the stress out of packing lunches! As a teacher, you'd be surprised how many kids I see bring in their lunch boxes... so proud... then open them at lunch and there's a pack of chips and a kool aid.... 😮‍💨

That was inspirational! My eldest is homeschooled and I have a toddler at home. I don’t really plan lunches, just sort of go with what we feel like on the day but now I’m thinking with a little forward planning and prepping we could come up with some really fun meals. I’m keeping that corn recipe!

I like to add some cooked rice to the taco meat and bean mix to bulk it up more.

Just thought with your Theam about having appetizers on the day that mom gets to pick! Frozen meatballs: 1 bottle of ketchup or barbecue sauce with 1 cup of grape jelly. Place all in slow cooker in morning & cook for 4 to 6 hours. Depending upon if meatballs are cooked and frozen. Serve with tooth picks. Then add rest of whatever you choose. Ever tried Barbecue Cups? Cheese and sausage balls? Tortilla Pinwheels? Seven Layered Taco dip? Has crunch from lettuce layer and chips you eat with it. Has ground beef layer, refried beans etc. I know people that just have this for their dinner...my son loves Spinach and Artichoke dip with pita or tortilla chips( one you bake in oven)...I save some of it before baking it in oven to stuff in large pasta shells or pasta tubes with a little ground cooked sausage mixed in ; then pour marinara sauce over the shells and pesto cream sauce over the manicotti or Alfredo sauce . Can even freeze and then pull out let defrost and bake. Does triple duty.

Have you ever mixed corn with cream cheese, the juice of jalapeños, some diced jalapeños and some mozzarella cheese and then mix it in the microwave or bake it in a pan in the oven it is absolutely wonderful

Ooh I might have to try some of these ideas! My boys have been taking meatball subs, chicken wraps with BBQ sauce and cheese, leftovers in their Thermos. I pre make their snack packs. They have roasted seaweed, a sweet treat (fruit snacks, mini choc, cookies etc), a crunchy (chips or noodles), a drink, and fruit/veg.

I think making "lunches" for ourselves at home will save time and money. The worst part about our day is having to stop working at 11 to cook and eat for an hour then no one wants to go back out to work. Which really messes up our day. And we eat way too much. This will be a double saving- money and time.

For the strawberry 🍓 you can get more berry by using a straw to push the top off and then blend the rest in your smoothies. No waste. Or not lol don't let the kids see it bahaa..great ideas!! Oh and woman you better make a bunch of salsa chicken and freeze some of it. It is so versatile and subtle flavor you can add BBQ sauce to..make into chicken salad etc

In the middle/high school they sell snacks and my son started buying cookies for $.50 each! Sometimes 2! I was like no no no I can bake them for less and I did, and the other kids are kinda jealous too! If we didn't qualify for reduced lunches (which will probably happen next year) I'd be packing lunch too!
