Top tip,once you have bought this gadget,use it as a template to make your own from a used plastic bottle,that's real biker recycling 😄

You can cut that shape out of a milk jug. It works just as well, and is actually more durable! I did it with my SV, and had no more leaks. Use it periodically and your seals should last a long time.

I just tried this fix on my M109 & it worked, I used a piece of plastic fruit juice container & ran it around under the lip of the seal 6 or so times, test run over speed bumps & gutters, no leaks.

Old forks could surely use a servicing, it will greatly improve how they operate. That said, this is a good budget option for people that have a real tight budget!

I purchased a "Seal Mate" tool. It does not seem to work on my 1973 Triumph Tiger. I am unable to penetrate the seal? My seals are orientated up, maybe seals are different on newer bikes? The seal mate is .015 thick. I do not want to damage seals.

Are use that seal made on my leaking forks it doesn’t work. I bought some fork seals on eBay for 25 bucks then I took the forks off of my bikes and take it to a local shop. they only charge me 50 bucks per forks to replaced the seal and new oil. It didn’t leak after that.

You forgot to mention checking the chrome for rust pitting while the fender is off. This is the most common cause of leaking seals, damage caused by rubbing past rust bumps. Ps: the easiest way to stop a fork weaping is to stuff tissue under the dust seal, but you didnt hear that from me 🤣

Just cut a strip from a milk jug. Best part is that it’s reusable. That’s how I fixed my leaks. FREE!

If you can pump your forks like you did,they’re definitley bad and need an overhaul!

Dude just repair it yourself. The hardest part is pushing the spring down once the fork cap off to get to the nut on the stem to separate the tube, you need to sets of hands for it. You just have to be really careful replacing the seals. I used wax paper and alittle grease to slid the me seal on the tube. I got an adjustable fork seal remover On line for 80 bucks. New oil for 40 and new seals and dust caps 80. $200 fresh forks. I’ve done the seals 3 times on my 99R1, the second and third time just got easier and faster every time.
