Today we install a Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 ZJ tie rod on our project Jeep in order to strengthen our steering components. All parts were ordered from Rock Auto for a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.2L V8 engine.

Great to see you have managed to edit and upload some of that footage you had! As ever, helpful and informative video. Thanks and looking forward to the next one.

Nice. The ZJ steering upgrade is one that is recommended a lot on the forums for those seeking a decent upgrade for cheap.

Being an OEM component it’s surprising these jeeps didn’t come with it from the factory, but at least we get the benefit of an easy upgrade with it!

Nice to see you back, seeing the shorts means this was a while ago, since it’s now in the 30’s or 40’s around here. Keep the content coming.

Are these new TJ knuckles that were replaced or were they ZJ knuckles, can you clarify? Also, did you have issues with bump steer or death wobble? I'm looking for an affordable alternative to Currie. Thanks so much for the vids!

I'd like to do this on my yj in the future if it will work ? Any body got more info
@MrMrsregor2 жыл бұрын
NO (from what I read on the internet) the yj has a like an "inverted T" setup and the tj,xj,zj all have "inverted Y" setup... the tj, and xj have a hollow track bar and smaller tierod ends than the zj... i dont think it is a direct swap or maybe not work at all (again, this is just what i readon the internet when i searched "zj steering upgrade for yj")
@tdperformance157 Жыл бұрын
Why didn’t you use the zj drag link?
@dironaa Жыл бұрын
Because a TJ drag link is already a solid rod. The ZJ link would offer no additional benefit.

Yours was made upside down. It’s supposed to be up high not hanging down. Have to pay attention at the parts store
@dironaa Жыл бұрын
Maybe it was the camera angle? I believe the bend should point straight ahead so the drag link will clear the diff cover at full steering lock. Either way I’ll be sure to take another look at it, thanks for mentioning it!

@@dironaa I have the same link moog made some upside down. I gave a buddy and he noticed it.
