Stephen Thompson vs Dan Hooker! Or Stephen Thompson vs Michael Chiesa! You better be praying for Neil Magny beating Gilbert Burn because Gunnar vs Daniel Rodriguez is confirmed, by the way are you chasing the Belt? If so you have to fight Khamzat, in a FIVE rounder you got him , come on wonderboy, you got this! Khamzat is easy work..........Let's go

His 3rd drill, Terrible Tens is real good for improving specific punch/strike speed, form, technique, power and timing. It enables you to throw 2 of the same strikes consequetively, which is an unorthodox rhythm for your opponent. This is why Wonderboys lead Side Kicks to the body are so effective.

Doing things with weights like that or putting donuts on baseball bats for example, has been proven to slow your hands/whatever you are training (ankle weights) down. But you WILL get into great shape.

There's a framework here that would work for practicing many different skills that aren't even fighting related. The variety of exercises with varying speeds, complexity, and combinations will always help you improve faster than if you just force yourself through one thing for long periods of time. It's basically what I do while practicing guitar or piano. I like that he's showing a basic structure to demystify his discipline. Very helpful.

I have been boxing for the past year and a half or so. I'm telling you, it's exhausting. It's so under appreciated how much endurance and stamina just 3 rounds requires. Your shoulders are screaming. And this is with a years worth of boxing workouts. By the end of the sparring session, your arms feel like jello. Your core is sore the next day. It's truly remarkable how much shape you need to be in just to be able to go a few rounds.

Listening to James Nestor's book, Breathe, he mentioned a coach decades ago who used to train his Olympic runners by making them sprint the 100m holding their breath to build up CO2 tolerance and increase cardio performance. I wonder how effective a training regime would be, to practice punching on the bag, whilst holding your breath.

I used to do something pretty stupid to be faster. It definitely works though. I would lift weights before training/sparring hitting pads etc. Not heavy and not a lot. I wasn't trying to tire my arms out. Just enough to get a slight pump. You can do the same thing in more productive ways warming up with pads etc... I just did it that way out of routine.
