Fun facts- if you mean the web, then that was developed by Tim Berners-Lee, an Englishman, working at CERN (you know, the kids who also built the Large Hadron Collider) in Switzerland. And if you're using Wifi- John O'Sullivan (Australian). All the Americans developed was TCP/IP, how to monetize it and how to flood it with outrage and substitute opinion for fact. So enjoy that week tasteless beer in your rusting unreliable pickup, and keep smoking that firecracker- you'll get to the end soon enough! ;-)

Additionally, you must have a woodworking machinery because if you just have a hammer and basic handsaw and a drill for home use. Nobody build a guitar from a simple board with home tools. Just the guitar hardware and electronics is about US$200, also finish and glue. The fingerboard is at least US$30 cheapest in eBay from Chinese manufacture. That is bull manure for saying US$30. I would pay him 30 bucks for that guitar and I believe this guy would sell me for that. Just Bull Manure

Exactly. If you have all the tools and expertise to build a guitar plus you have wood for free or cheap then you can do it for 30. Still the pickups bridge and strings were not there which were later bought.

Most of his tools he used are pretty basic for most men that enjoy things like playing guitar. Besides a planer, which I do have but you really don't need for this. I feel like a router is borderline considered a basic tool but if not harbor freight sells them for $30 & works fine

I've heard of folks looking all over for good wood to build guitars out of. I am about to post probably the most awesome source that I found, a thrift shop like the salvation army, I can buy an entire head board and foot board for 6 bucks. The posts can be used for necks and the actual head and foot boards can be used as a body, the only issue I have found is these are usually 3/4 inch thick so they have to be glued on top of one another which gets you to 1 1/2 inch thickness so it will need a cap of 1/4 inch thick for most guitars like a strat, tele, music man, jackson, ibanez etc. 1 3/4 is pretty standard for most a lot of guitars out there, however if making a hard tail version you can get away with just the 1 1/2 inch thickness. You can grab a chair or two as well and use the seat. While it is hard to tell what type of wood it is you can at least somewhat test for hardness by pressing your fingernail into an area of the wood, if it dents it is soft if not it is hard, the two I got was maple and birch. Right now I am working on my second body and its not that hard just tedious. The first build was a Squire bullet strat body to replace the plywood one, it sounds better than my USA made strat (squire necks are made really well) which may be due to having fender single coils rather than stock squire ones. The best tools to have when doing this type of work are: Rubber mallet (I use this to drive a carving chisel lightly in tight areas.)Belt sander and yes the cheap one worksrouter sharp chiselsforstner bitsfiles and rasps straight edgea tool for fine measurements (I use a digital caliper)long and short drill bits This is the tools I used which I already had. It can be done without automated tools it just takes longer.

Really nice video Dan. I've built similar bodies using what I call the "Clamshell" technique, which is using two pieces of wood for the top and back with no middle piece. I just route out the insides and glue them together and cut the the shape on a band saw. Works well for me.

Hey, i did that thing routing one pickup to another output myself one time. It's probably the only way to use a saggy vintage fuzz and a tighter overdrive in parallel, because the second pickup is not affected by the low input impedance of the fuzz (-face, for exaple)! This opens up a whole new world of sounds, really fun to play with! ;)

@GunsandGuitars

I thought that angle would be a little too aggressive. After I strung it this way I cut the strings too short to go under the roller bar or else I would’ve tried that. I just didn’t want to open another pack of strings lol
@woofystevenson2943
@woofystevenson2943 5 жыл бұрын
James Crider the aggressive break angle just makes more tension on the strings, it lets you get away with using ridiculously heavy strings if you don't put the strings uunder the bar
@bahusofriends5467
@bahusofriends5467 5 жыл бұрын
@@GunsandGuitars you want just that! the "agressive angle" will cure any issues you'd might run into with that trem/bridge combination! i am a pensioner by now but yoused to build and repair guitars and stringed instruments for a livin' . trust my words. change the way you stringed the guitar and you will notice a sometimes quite drastic change of the sound the instrument has. this is a direct consequence to the increase of pressure the string uses on the saddle. in principle: the more pressure, the better. apart from this, your build looks nice and beautyful and it sounds ok to me. it is not possible to jugde something you can not hear.......i would love to hear this instrument in a live situation and play it as well cause that would be the only way to really say/find out how an instrument sounds. youtube is bad soundwise and does not help much in finding out how an instrument sounds. the surface finish you did looks quite nice as well! have you ever tried out shellack? this i would recommend to you. almos all violins have been treated that way for centuries.... keep on keeping on, dear fellow! you do have a lot of talent!

Try the WIlkinson roller bridge next time you're in the market for a cheap roller bridge. They're rock solid, and only cost about 20 bucks. A big plus to them is that you can adjust the radius by cutting little shims out of an aluminum can and placing them under the saddles. They've been my go to roller bridge for years now.

DO it! Build it! I want to try building one once I have the necessary wood working shop. Not quite there yet, it's my dream to build.

Just a woodworking tip for that face glue up and the ammo Dan. Great idea, but it still slid. Adding some salt on top of the glue before you join the pieces together will basically eliminate that slide. You're welcome and great build regardless. Gotta go into how you wired those pickups sometime because that is some awesome control.

Sweet! I JUST put those Guitar Madness Wide Range style pickups in a Strat, with the same inside-outside coil splitting! I will have to steal your stereo output option, it's super cool! Keep up the good work.
