Dave went over his training and programming in this old but excellent talk. By using both dynamic effort and max effort work dave got about as conjugate as anyone can!

I would really apprecitate a long winded in detail video from Dave about conjugate programming for absolute beginners who start from scratch. How he manipulate dynamic effort for example to learn technique properly etc. how beginners should max effort, how to work up to max weights, 1rm 3rm 5rm, all about assistance, how many exercise variations, just everything. thx

Take my money Mr. Dave Tate, I would love to see a beginner conjugate program, especially for young athletes to master proper technique and build gpp

@@mathisallen2 I took "beginner" to mean "uninitiated in Conjugate method", as opposed to "people without lifting experience". Apologies for the false hope.

Someone let Dave know it’s called “volume” because volume is a 3-dimensional measurement. L x W x H, etc. translates to sets x reps x weight ❤️
@comically_large_chungus

lmao shame no one uses that definition of volume anymore volume mostly just means number of sets now

@@comically_large_chungus lol right? I didn’t mean it in a negative way. Just heard him say that a few times and thought it’d be worth giving the reasoning

yeah good luck trying to bring that definition back. You'd have more luck trying to get people to pronounce "eccentric" properly.

My favorite part of the conjugate method and dynamic days is that you can go 100% balls to the wall on the same body part while you are recovering from your max effort day and be ready to go again max effort and it’s like you snuck a workout in. I don’t know how you could train any other way except taking days off.

Great info, ty 🙏...Question: when in a program that lasts for weeks (8, 10, etc) and you initially establish a 1rm, but that 1rm increases during the program, do you readjust the % based on the new 1rm or keep it as it was until the program is over?

So he actually answered it in a recent podcast (not on KZfaq I believe). But Dave pretty much just said while you're warming up and you hit a weight that you feel like it pops that would be the low range and then when you feel like it slows down that is your upper range. So even if you gain let's say 10 lb on bench so you go from 300 to 310 60% is only increased by 6 lb so really just focus on good reps and you will know when you should adjust. Plus let's say you have a bad day then you have some wiggle room. Hope this helps.

@@bigFrogDaddy Ty for the response! It makes sense, seems like you have the freedom to adjust based on feel rather than sticking hard to a number on the board. Im ok with that. Where you said if you have a bad day you have wiggle room...in my current program, if I couldnt hit a # of reps in the set, I would just carry it over. So it would be say, 4 reps at 95% then 1 at 95%, instead of 5 at 95 as required. It sucked not hitting that last rep, but having wiggle room for adjustment is good. Thanks again!

Loads of ways to skin a cat mate, the goat Ed coan, John hack, loads don't follow conjugate, loads do too though and loads take aspects popularised by conjugate such as accommodating resistance, speed work etc I'm not shit lifter wise but if you're after a quick basic response, that's one mate
