I’ve got this motor in a 1978 f150 4x4 with 37s. The problem motor is the 3 valve. Some advise is look in the fuse block under the hood. There is a little blue or purple fuse. Can’t remember off hand. Get a few extra and keep ‘em with you. I had that fuse blow and it went into some type of limp mode. The code will say something about transmission. Took “days” to figure it out.

One note: you need to securely mount the trailer brake controller. It has a sensor that detects how much you are braking, not just brake on or off. I think if that thing moves around you could get a false signal to engage trailer brakes.

Sold a 99 V10 not to long ago. Wish I still had it. Before you tow anything check the date code on those tires!

Not bad motors. They just like to launch sparkplugs out of the engine, through the oil packs. But because of the age and mileage of yours, you probably have 8 helicoiled plugs already haha.
