Just found your channel, and you seem to have some amazing stuff! In case you need *more* ideas on your plate you could make either another spring version, or a gas piston (and co2 cartrige maybe) powered one with the same (or better!) capabilities as Boston Dynamic's "Sand Flea"

Thanks! I am currently working on the second version of the jumping robot and it uses more powerful ASG springs but thanks for the ideas.Gas powered jump mechanism probably would have much more power than springs so that is something I might consider making in the future.

Thanks! I am currently making a video about the second version of this mechanism and it should have much more power. You can check my Instagram to see how the new design looks.

Nice project! May i know where did you get the springs and metal stick you used? Thanks
@BasementCreationsChannel
@BasementCreationsChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Well I bought those 3mm metal rods from some construction shop but you can get them online as well. And the springs are actually from an old toy monster truck (dimensions are on my Thingiverse).

May I ask what kind of torque the motor will need to handle when tightening the spring? I have a competition at my school with a limited budget for motors etc, and was wondering if I’d need a hefty and expensive motor for this. Great video anyways!
@BasementCreationsChannel
@BasementCreationsChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks! The motor that I used is a small N20 6V motor with a reduction ratio of 60:1. It isn't the strongest in its class as it has a rated torque(kg-cm) of about 0.65. It is only able to compress those springs because of the 3D printed gearbox which greatly increases its torque at the cost of drastically lowering the speed. Overall I think that this solution is quite good as it is low on weight which couldn't be achieved by using bigger and heavier DC motor. So if you have a 3D printer I would recommend getting the same N20 motor but with higher reduction ratio (something like 250:1 which is equal to about 3 kg*cm of torque) or modifying a servo like I did in the second version and later adding some 3D printed gears to increase the torque according your needs. There is no need to use big and expensive DC motors.

Can you make a rubberband powered version pls
@BasementCreationsChannel
@BasementCreationsChannel 3 жыл бұрын
I think that rubber bands could be used in a similar project but right now I am working on the second version of this jump mechanism and it uses ASG springs so I am not really planning to use anything else.

@@BasementCreationsChannel can you pls make your next mechanism with less 3d printed parts so that its cheaper to make via a 3d printing service .btw love from India ♥️
