Hi Folks!
In this episode I head out to one of my local stomping grounds to enjoy a solo bushcraft wild camp. Trying new things and just recharging the old batteries.
I made a raised tripod bed using bank line and a cheap old tarp. I cook up a cheap and tasty meal using my bushbox, set up in a Swedish fire torch configuration.
I hope that you enjoy the video and if you do, please feel free to like, share and subscribe to help grow the channel. If you have any questions regarding gear etc, then please feel free to either leave a comment or contact me directly by email and I'll respond ASAP.
Many thanks as always for watching and your support guys.
Cheers, J.

Hey Jason. That seems like a really great unique idea for the raised bed. In fact you created a whole sleep system there. it's a great way to cook with the Bush box having the wood in that position, always good to try new things. Cracking bit of Scran, no more need be said. 😎👍👍. Good to see you out in your environment, cheers bud.

Great setup that Jay looked so comfortable plenty storage under the bed if you decided to make a permanent camp using this method it's something that myself and Roney talked about for a second camp if our new one gets compromised not as much work to do and easy to dismantle and hide atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍👍👍

Hi Jimmy, it's a great little set up for a semi permanent camp and yeah, there was bags of space for storage. Definitely less graft than what you guys put into your camps for sure and like you say, you've always got the option of hiding it away in between camps. Many thanks for watching mate. Atb, J 👍

Really enjoyable, thanks Ja. Looked like one of the most comfortable Bushcraft beds I've seen built up - worth the work deffo. Your well put together vids draw the viewer in so it's like I was there with you. Nice. You show a bushbox-twig stove at it's most versatile along with great food too. Cheers Buddy

Nice one J, that 2 x 2 tarp did a great job. I nearly always gave an old piece of tarp in my pack. Like I've already mentioned, I've used the orange survival bags for this a few times butvthe tarp worked great 👍. Catch ya later fella Atb Rick n Billydog

Cheers Rick. My original idea was to try one of the survival bags and then I remembered the old builders tarp. Worked a treat in all fairness and I'd probably use it again for the same purpose. Take care mate and I'll catch up with again soon. Atb, J 👍

Cracking video Jason and a great project to try 👌Your videos are always so beautifully shot and edited and a real pleasure to watch. Like what you did with the log to make a chopping block, I’m going to try that. Loads going on as usual too - wood prep, fire torch, cooking and the bed. Great skills. Quick question, what rucksack is that? I’m looking for a new one and yours looks awesome. Nice one J, thanks for sharing mate. Cheers, Elliott.

Cheers Elliott, I really appreciate your kind words mate 🙏 I use the Karrimor SF 75. Got it for a steal on ebay as new without tags. It's an extremely versatile, durable and comfortable pack. Plenty of little storage pockets to help organise your gear with the option of adding side pouches for additional capacity but I doubt I'd ever need to. It's big enough to get my winter sleeping bag inside a bivvy bag without compressing it and there's plenty of room for the rest of my winter gear. I hope that helps mate. Many thanks again for watching and hopefully I'll catch up with you again soon. Atb, J 👍

There is something wrong with your Paratroopers - you go from being up in the air and jumping out of serviceable aircraft to going underground digging up COAL. 😁 Respect as I hadn't clocked that detail, how long were you underground for and where, Notts, Derbyshire? I reckon this raised bed configuration is the best setup you can get, IF you have the time and the materials, I just don't have enough straight strong enough Poles in my immediate area. Did you use any form of under sleeping pad with the Jungle Bag - interested to know whether you got a damp/sweat patch between you and the nylon tarp bed? I don't know what the white stuff was you poured out of a bottle for the evening meal, but the morning scoff sausages looked the dog's dangly bits. 👍 I find it hard work getting a Swedish style fire torch going in my IKEA Utensil dryers - exactly for the reason you said, lack of air and also, having to light from the top, but once it is going, it is roaring like a Rocket Stove.

Ha ha, cheers Robert. Always enjoy your comments Mucker 👌 I spent four and a half years working over 2000 feet underground in a colliery in Warwickshire. We ended up mining under the M6. Doubled my income overnight and were some of the best lads you could have asked to work with. Ended up taking redundancy and brought a pub in Shropshire 😀 I used my cheap multimat for a bit of insulation but it didn't show up well on the camera by the time I sorted my bedding out. The white stuff was milk for the pasta. Cheap and cheerful. Many thanks as always mate for watching and your comments, always appreciated. Cheers, J 👍

@@SandybackOutdoors Double respect, who would have guessed you lot were down there as vehicles thundered on the tarmac up above. I've never known anyone boil pasta in MILK, I thought it might have been a watery mushroom sauce. 🤦‍

@@RobertsBulgaria Yeah, it was a whole new world working down there but I really liked it until they put us all on 3 shifts. Reckon it was part of the strategy to get us to take redundancy when they started scaling back operations. As for the pasta, I just follow the destructions on the packet, lol 😆
