I needed a predictable and consistent way to cure prints from my new Elegoo Mars resin printer, so I built a curing chamber with an IKEA LIXHULT, a UV LED strip and a solar turntable.
Build note: put on the reflective film before you assemble (further evidence I have no idea what I'm doing)

UV LED strip amzn.to/2pdSh7O
Chrome Vinyl amzn.to/35uE4Ec
Solar turntable amzn.to/2oBcmoE
plus an old power jack and toggle switch I had laying around, your mileage may vary.

Great idea. I'm going to make this. The only change will be to install the foil prior to assembling the box. Since I don't solder I'll omit the switch.

yeah, I should have done the same. You'll need to solder the LED strips as well unless you plan to use those expensive connector cables.

Thanks for your reply. I ordered some led uv strips and it has a plug in on/off switch. I'm planning on using the whole strip with no cuts and use the adhesive backing to hold it in the cabinet. Hoping for the best. Still shopping for a resin printer thought. Looking at the Nova3d Bene4 and the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro Mono.

Great build. One comment on the solar powered turntable. I got mine from Amazon and was disappointed in the size of the top. So I glued a old cd to it with aluminum tape on top.

I haven't done any experiments myself, but as I understand it you can't really use mirrors since the light has to pass through the glass to get to the reflective surface and that UV tends to get absorbed. Of course the light coming straight from the LEDs does most of the work.

If only i knew C; I made a custom box, something like 20/21 x 20/21, and the strip of 5 meter, is perfect for that, cause you get 6 led strips for panel, and then you just need to solder the different strips with wires, and you've done :) . I want to make a "professional" Version, with some arduino for the timer, and bigger, so, I found a 10 Mt strip, 2 strip of 5m with a psu included too, at the same price of the first 1,with only 5m Top

hello, nice clean build! could you do me a favour and test one of your prints for scratch resistance? i recently built my own uv chamber, similar to yours but with even more power (no flex intended). However, the print surface remains weaker (not scratch resistant) than the fully cured resin of the bottom layers that are in direct contact with the build plate (scratch resistant).

Good idea, nice and clean design. With this type of LED light, how long does it take for the resin to completely cure?.

Couldn't you put some reflective material on the turntable's top since the platform is transparent that will help reflect the UV under the item being cured?
@NerdsMakers
@NerdsMakers 3 жыл бұрын
I opted to hit the top of the turntable with a Molotow chrome pen, but you could totally do that as long as you left the solar panels clear

@@muddin2deep they're called a few things and come in a variety of sizes and styles, search for "barrel jack" or "jack socket". You have to match your power supply's diameter and pin size, usually expressed something like "5.5x2.1".

This is 405 nm UV light which is UV-A. You need UV-C light for disinfection purposes. That would be a wave length of 100 to 280 nm.
