I continue the build of my Ooznest Workbee Z1+ 1500x1500 CNC router by building the X-Gantry assembly, the base, the Y-Gantry Assembly and the router mount. The machine is really beginning to come together. This is a perfect machine for the hobbyist and semi professional alike.

Fantastic series. I've just purchased a Workbee Z1+ and couldn't have progressed (not finished yet) without your guides. One suggestion which would have made my job even simpler. Quite a few times you mention for example "add a bolt and screw on a t-nut ..." I then have to switch to Ooznest documentation to workout which bolt and t-nut needs to be used. An overlay text with the size of the nuts and bolts would've made my job a lot easier. Many thanks.
11 ай бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback the reason I didn't specify the exact bolt and nut etc is because I wanted people to refer to the Ooznest documents to get the correct bolts etc. I believe you would get a better understanding of the build and the components this way and also would allow for any changes or upgrades to bolt sizes etc introduced by Ooznest to Z1+ kits after I received and completed the video series. I hope that makes sense. Tommy

Those extrusions look very strong, the C Shaped ones.. They're huge mate.. This is brilliant to see u can basically buy it all part by part as u want it.. Great video Tommy. Ur the 1st person I've seen go through this step by stepper.. That's a silly joke there T mate.. LOL U explain everything in greaty detail which is brilliant bcos most ppl who make vdieos keep their knowledge guarded for some daft reason but u show us step by astep Tommy so thanks for that mate. I hope the electronics is as well done as the rest of the video bcos this has been an awesme watch mate.. Take it easy pal,

Hi Tommy. I’ve just got my Ooznest machine and am in the process of putting it together. Your assembly videos are a godsend. If I had been totally relying on their instructions, I would have been struggling. Thanks so much for taking the time to record and post them.

Getting there Tommy, Any hints as to the first CNC project you have in mind? Thanks for sharing this build process I'm getting closer to making my mind up on my own purchase unless you've managed to persuade Ooznest to send me one for my upcoming birthday? 😁

Still here Tom, excellent video! I worry about all those screws working lose as you use the machine; how accessible are they after you put it all together? I am also concerned with saw dust getting into those tracks as you use it? How is that working out?
6 ай бұрын
Most of the screws are easily accessible, there are some that are not but I haven't had any issues with any screws becoming loose so far. As for dust in the tracks yes there will be some dust getting into the tracks I just run the vacuum cleaner on them or give them a blow with the air hose once in awhile so not really an issue

Hi Tommy just found your videos after I bought mine. Any tips on where to pit the router power cable. Did u put it in drag chain or straight up into a ceiling socket
Жыл бұрын
Hi, I put the router cable straight up to the ceiling, I will be running it with the dust extraction pipe once I add extraction properly. It is not advisable to run the cable through the drag chain as it can effect the signal to the stepper motors etc. I hope this helps 🙂

I have added my router as instructed, but have noticed that the lead screw is slightly sticking out on the x axis. Is this right or should it be flush with the bottom plate..... Cheers Rich
Жыл бұрын
Hi Rich, I presume you mean the z axis. If so the lead screw should be flush with the bottom plate if not check you have it touching the stepper motor shaft in the coupler. There isn't a gap between lead screw and stepper shaft like on the x and y axis. Hope this makes sense.
@gibsrich2007
@gibsrich2007 Жыл бұрын
@ hi yeah just checked this and there is a gap. Is there an easy way to adjust this or will the whole z axis have to come to bits. Great videos really helpful using them alongside the oozenest instructions.
Жыл бұрын
@@gibsrich2007 you should be able to adjust while together just support the z axis from dropping open the coupler and screw up leadscrew until they touch and retighten the coupler.
