I have plans to build the exact same blind this summer at my property deep in the woods. 9x11’ with a wood burning stove and flat screen tv. I’m excited to see your progress so I can learn from you. Good Luck!.

Thanks for watching, Billy. It did end up getting a little big, but between it and the other hunting spots on the property, we now have options for all the different preferences for the hunters in our family. We will enjoy using it as a cabin during the spring/summer too.

Someone should have told you to insert your bolts in the cement while it was still wet, would have saved you all that drilling "/

J-hook = Anchor Bolt? I like the other hardware, Loving the video too. I have been building ridiculous deer stands like mad as well lol. It's fun to see others do the same.

Thank you for watching! I am really happy with the Simpson Strong-tie "Adjustable Standoff Post Base for 4x6" secured by Red Head stainless sleeve anchors. So far so good!

Why did you go with posts on concrete pilings versus putting the posts in the ground?
@stonehillcabin
@stonehillcabin 2 жыл бұрын
@John Schreier - I chose post on pilings so I could swap out posts or pilings later more easily. Despite the fact that I used treated lumber, I worried that the habitat would be hard on any material, and wanted some flexibility down the road. I hope I won't need to worry about it, but if I do, I have replacement options with doing anything too drastic.

Did you add any rebar to the footings? If so, how many pieces per tube and what width of the bar 1/2"?
@stonehillcabin
@stonehillcabin 2 жыл бұрын
@John Yuhaschek - thanks for watching. I did opt for fiberglass rebar on this project, but I used 7/16". Here's the product I used: www.menards.com/main/building-materials/concrete-cement-masonry/rebar-remesh/7-16-x-20-fiberglass-rebar/1831110/p-1520408262313.htm

Hi...cool project. Question: Where are you located that you were trying to go 4' down? Most of usa needs 36" max. Four feet is extremely excessive for a deer blind. Many sit on the surface w just tie downs. I was going to build my own but when I realized how the cost of materials is nearly double from just 5 or so years ago opted to just buy a nice one that goes up quick without all the labor. By the time I procured all the materials and put in the labor it worked out about a wash with just purchasing one complete. I often make that mistake of the undervaluing what my time is worth. I love to build and tinker but I'm no pro at it so it takes 2 times longer than it should so I just put up the cash instead. Good stuff!

Hey, thanks for the great comment. We are way up north where it regularly hits -10*F and every now and again will hit -30*F. You are right about the cost. It cost way more than I had intended it to. I put in hundreds of hours, but it paid me back in enjoyment of being out in the woods and I really enjoy the time building.

You must be building a hotel in the woods with all that work yikes hint a tractor is 10 times better than a 4 wheeler

I would LOVE to have a tractor......am working on that. :) Only thing I would be concerned about is getting the tractor up that bluff. My ATV struggled at times as that bluff is very steep.
