Hybrid Calisthenics

Hybrid Calisthenics

Күн бұрын

Hey everyone! I usually try to alternate the calisthenics videos with "other" videos like philosophy, life, motivation, etc. Today's video was supposed to be about pushups, but it was a nice day and I felt like going for a drive. I drove to a nearby bluff and shot this video.
(It actually ended up being a lot colder than I thought. If I'm slurring a bit towards the end, this may be why).
The idea of building self-esteem has been on my mind a lot recently. A lot of people have been asking me about it, so it's sort of been slowly bubbling to the forefront.
By the way, I certainly don't profess to be an expert. However, these principles have helped me a lot in my teens and 20s, and I'm sharing them here so that they may help others:
I think the "fake it 'til you make it" attitude some of us have toward confidence is what ultimately results in low confidence and low self-esteem.
When we become actors that pretend to be confident in something we know nothing about, we become vulnerable. We get upset when someone questions our ability. We attack others and try to bring them down so we seem better by comparison.
In my experience, a better endeavor is to cultivate self-awareness. When we spend time on introspection and knowing ourselves, THEN we can slowly start to build confidence and reconcile our self-perception with reality.
If we know we're good at something, we have no fear of other people telling us we're bad. We can say with confidence that we know ourselves better than they do.
If we know we're bad at something, we should also have no fear in other people telling us we're bad. We completely agree with each other. What is there to argue about? We're always trying to improve.
Once again, it was a bit cold on the bluff. I apologize if the video isn't as clear and clean as it could have been! I had to somewhat hurry because of the weather and the setting sun.
Let me know if you have any questions. Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!!!!!

Well tbh If I were to vent my inner feelings then it would be the following: How can my mother have such high hopes and such love for me when I myself know that I am a failure....I act all happy in front of her hoping that she does not pick up on my feelings of lonliness and....acting all happy makes me want to feel happy, but I don't....having friends who care about me is a blessing but at times I avoid them as I feel Thier attention is not worth for this disgusting body. People do have a notion that I'm good at studies, but I am not...by fluke my words reach a certain answer....but when I open up and say....I don't know...they laugh it off and say, you know it, cause you are a genius...this puts me into a more confusion state, a state which makes me think....do people really think that I have such good knowledge.... Exams, one such event in life where I start studying the previous day of the subject related exam, and think I can pull it off, but while trying to...I end up realizing of how I screwed myself over....and then that very thought of how I screwed myself over leads me to thinking of how I am unworthy of all the comforts provided by my parents....one thing leads to an another.... I may be typing here and expressing my inner feelings...as I type this...I have this one notion behind my brain and it be screaming that....I'm a attention whore....wanting attention from everyone...wanting someone to scold me and comfort me, tell me that it's okay to feel like this...this journey of life is tough....etc....all these attention seeking behaviour of mine .....I even don't know if I have it or not...but I do end up blaming myself for being an attention whore... When people do tell me positive stuff, I feel good for a while...then back to the same rabbit hole....really.....how pathetic can I be...😎....😓....

Start with this to build confidence and self-esteem: Stop comparing yourself to others and only compare yourself to who you were the day before. It's easy to compare yourself to someone who's better at relationships, richer, stronger, or healthier than you, but it's mentally healthier and fairer to compare yourself to who you were the other day. Take solace in knowing that you're better today than you were the day before, because maybe you spent some time to work towards developing a skill, meditating, exercising, learning something, or enjoying a book.

You helped me so much in life. Ever since my favorite rapper died pop smoke and kobe died I lost track of life. The covid started and the movements. Life was bad for me as a 15 year old. But 1 day I see your videos and I watched literally like so much of them fully for a whole day and it made me feel better as a person. I started getting confident to do things and motivated. Then I started watching on how you can build up on strength and everything. I used to weight about 320 pounds now I weigh 230 pounds with a lot of muscle and life just has been amazing. I can dunk now thanks to you.

You've definitely made an impact on me, for sure. Right now it's very hard to be a confident Christian in this upside down world and you have encouraged me to be more bold and confident in my walk. "High perceived confidence but low self esteem". That line hit me harder than the rest because its how I've been pushing myself and what I was told to do. I "faked it till i made it" while being unaware of my own limitations wc honestly just resulted to more disappointments and heavier strikes on my self esteem.

I agree with your message, telling someone to be confident or fake it til you make it does lower self esteem because you feel like you’re lying. Self awareness allows you to be less confident but still aware that you don’t know something and that’s the reason why. You can always grow
@kizryuver
@kizryuver 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah tho it can be hard to do all the time cuz there are things that ppl shouldnt or cant make public sometimes for their own safety due to social conditions,environment etc n its understandable, also most of us lie a lot either consciously or subconsciously or even involuntarily smtyms as humans due to society (with exceptions not being able to lie would either b a rarity due to a condition (if it exists), ppl who arent living in society n even then they may lie to themselves etc so it d b a lie to ourselves if we say we dont lie too. ) and even to ourselves regardless of how truthful we wish to be and sometimes its a right/wrong/neutral/grey choice n we just need to know which ones correct for what circumstances. but in some cases its safer not to do so..eg.imagine if you say you can light a match stick well cuz ppl told you to be confident but you ended up burning your fingers due to lack of supervision or instructions etc,its a small example that can lead to possibly worse out comes but there r similar situations which could lead to worse outcomes where it d b better to say we cant do it. Tho i understand that saying yes to most things regardless of your opinion can happen due to being expected to say yes especially in schools,workplaces,society, homes etc N it comes due to being expected of absolute obedience from teachers/elders/society/employeers/superior/ etc. So many things are not black and white but grey when it comes to such things. But since it can be difficult to determine whats correct step to take ppl should really try to think for themselves more deeper while focusing on different ppls experiences, opinions etc that are relevant and also try to see if those can be utilized for themselves.

Yes ..agreed...be you and don't "be like" ... we all have the potential to great, kind, empathetic, generous people. When we help others...we naturally feel good about ourselves. Small kindness, respect, manners...leave the trash talk for the trashy people...aspire to be better and seek knowledge. People will respect you and admire you...just as some admire the movie stars and musicians. Sadly young people are inundated with ugly, selfish, nasty, immoral examples portraited as role models and they imitate what they see in popular culture because they don't know anything else. 😢 There is soooo much more they can do and be if they have good role models and Hampton, you are a good place to start. Thank you for setting the bar high!
