BUILDING MY NEW IRONS FROM SCRATCH... AT HOME!? - Theres no better feeling than getting new golf clubs... buying new irons, receiving a new driver... but one feeling that matches it... is building your own golf clubs... in this video I build my own irons from scratch at home. how to build your own golf clubs? this is not... I'm sure I make plenty of mistakes in this video so don't use this as a how to make your own golf clubs step by step guide... did I buy the right irons? lets find out... and lets do it now!

30 years ago I built my first proper set (Driver, 3W 2i-SW) bought all the parts from a company called Golfsmith in Austin, TX. I couldn't afford the Ping Eye 2's so I bought the knock offs. I enjoyed it and seeing people's faces when I would tell them I built them.

I just did the same thing!!! I bought a set of Cleveland TA-3 forged iron heads, used some shafts I had in my basement, and am now waiting for the glue to dry. I did spine alignment on these so it will be interesting to see how they feel and play. Best of luck with yours!!

Matching up the lengths using the butt end of the grips was a great move... ... I have a portable gripping station that mounts to a vice .. Bought from GolfWorks here in the US for about $30-$40. Definitely worth it... The grips slide right on with a push on the club head side

Got lead tape on my Wilson Staff Tour Blades and these up the swing weight nicely. Yours are 10 grames and get you about 6 to 10 yards extra(on mine at least). Put it lower will get the ball up better and 2 on the wedges makes play around the green a delight.Great video James.

On another note, I completely regripped my clubs and the wife's clubs in February, decided to give'er a go, I watched your method, saw a video on using compressed air, which means you can use the clubs immediately after, however I like the idea of regrip in late winter and play in summer... this way you can get some practice in after the season closes with the grips you're used to... Get the wife some new grips for Christmas, buy a new set for yourself, then pop them on after the new year mess... Then get some practice in with the new grips before the season starts.. THAT was the plan.. We know what happened in the new year that put a real downer on that plan... but courses are now open! Great content James! Very nice How-To video you put together. Honestly, you did a great job!

Top tip on the grip tape side of things. Always leave some excess at the top of the shaft to plug the opening. Otherwise dirt can get into the shaft through the pinhole in the top of the grip. Long term your else up with that horrible gritty rattling sound when you move the club.

You are ENTERTAINING as always, James.... the only thing surprising was that you did NOT use "info" from a recent video of yours where you had some flex expert talk in great detail about which side of the shaft is ideal for facing forward based on shafts do not flex the same in any direction. I naturally expected you to use that shaft flex test info in building this set when i seen the title of this vid
