Incredible design! I once thought about doing a build like this but after 2 days of brainstorming I imagined it to be a mess of rubbery hose, lack of airpressure and more bricklink packages than money could buy. I Applaud you for your perseverance through those hardships! It really looks great!

This is so cool, I wish I had enough lego pneumatic stuff to build something this epic. I'd love to rig something like this up to an RCX and have it roaming about. I used to have a robot ant that searched around for a ball then carried it in it's jaws, but it only had lame unjointed electric powered legs.

They should've made a real, huge pneumatic and/or steam powered crawler just like this one, back in the 19th century. That would've both been awesome, and would have changed the course of technology progression :)

You did an awesome job and I wish I had that many pistons, valves, T spliitter joints, that much tubing, and an air compressor when I was 12!! The operation appears very smooth and well sequenced. It reminds me of things called State Machines (google it). I saw a lot of novel construction in this, and it looks like you figured out how to interface with those pesky valves pretty well! Keep on LEGO Technic-ing it up!

@MyopicM2C1 Hello! It takes a large volume of air at 32.6 psi to operate pneumatic actuators that move the legs and the general supply pipe is not big enough to power everything at the same time! We must increase the presure but the pipes don't support it. Moreover, this assemby was a test to see how enchaining movements one after another with position sensors. Thank you for your interest and comments.

It's definitely on it's legs. Ignore robolegoenthusiast, LEGO can be ridiculously stong when built and braced properly. This thing can easily take it's own weight.
@robolegoenthusiast

@MyopicM2C1 The movements are controlled by position sensors attached to the central pair of legs. If the movement of these sensors is blocked, the following movements are stopped. This assembly is nothing else that an automaton.

I'm sure it's possible. For example, checkout the video called ("Lego pneumatic walker : Test 1 - rising", KZfaq doesn't let me post the link) I myself have been toying around also with some walkers (although I use linear actuators instead of pneumatics), and it's a challenge, but they can be made to support themselves. Don't get me wrong, I still think your model is fantastic! But it'd be great if it would support itself :)
