It's a custom model and it was 10 years ago. Your guess is as good as mine about that. All I can tell you is that we made all the segments as strong as we could.

How did those little suction thingys hold up 2.6 kg?

The surface of a suction cup is roughly 10cm² so with a perfect vacuum it could have held about 40kg. But since the vacuum circuit was very leaky, it was barely enough to hold 2.6kg.

Awesome! What I like most is that you're using classic Technic bars with holes! I don't like the modern Technic style with liftarms/beams and various panels. Lego needs bricks and Technic activity must be visible, not covered!

get two nxt programs to run the switches and airpump attach it to the top and have them pump air and run the switches
